Good reaction man, and yes this is the greatest Super Bowl Halftime show of all time, all live, no lip syncing, no auto-tune, no B.S, just real music by real musicians in heavy rain. Prince was the God of Music.
When they told Prince it was going to pour rain, and asked if he wanted to cancel, he said “Can you make it rain harder?”

The Best of You is a Foo Fighters song. In an interview lead singer Dave Grohl said he had no idea Prince was covering his song until Prince was actually singing it. He said he started crying 🥰😁 The fact that it was raining during Purple Rain made it even more epic ❤ my favorite by far.

I think a lot of people are going to be shocked in the coming times. Prince started airing his views on certain things that were frowned on by 'the powers that be' and they tried to take him out. He was, however, saved and he will come back again, if he wants to (which I am praying he will).
Yes, this man and Queen have a piece of my heart and nothing can replace it!
Imagine being there!!! I tried to disregard all the visual effects, including the thunders and lightnings, and concentrate only on Prince and his singing, to see how he handled milions of viewers watching his every move. And he did his best, not only his songs but covers of Tina Turnera, and, if I'm not mistakin, Jimi Hendrix! (not strange since Prince was often compared to Jimi ever since he'd appeared on the stage).
I especially loved the part where his voice went very deep and melodic (and we all know how easily he could have jumped to falsetto and screaming :-)
Proud Mary is a Creedence Clearwater song. It was covered by Ike and Tina Turner a few years later. All Along the Watchtower was a song by Bob Dylan, the first Minnesota legend. It was covered by Jimi Hendrix.

Sometimes cover gives a new, even better life to a song (Prince must have had Hendrix' version in mind, especially with his guitar playing).That's why when "Proud Mary" is mentioned - the first thought that comes to my mind is Tina, just as with "I'll aways love you" - I'll think of Whitney Houston first, not an original by Dolly Parton. It's a matter of preference, music is music.

There’re certainly not many artists which can engage and move the crowd like this. What an amazing show🎇🎸🎶. And for me the performance of Purple Rain during it was raining was the cherry on the cake☔️☔️☔️.

Check out Prince Live performances of “America” and “Empty Room Live Montreaux 2009” and “Shhh!”… there’s too many to list them all. He was and IMHO still is the GOAT.
The live event producer Don Mischer said, “Put me on the phone with Prince”, rallying his production team that stormy morning. “Now I want you to know that it’s raining,” said Mischer to Prince. “Yes , it’s raining”, answered Prince. “And, are you okay?”, Mischer wanting to know. The Purple One, the artist formerly & forever to be known as Prince, had only one question: “CAN YOU MAKE IT RAIN HARDER?”

I believe that prince actually replied, when asked about cancelling due to rain, “can you make it rain harder?” Man was a legend. A beast. I’ve been heartbroken since 2016. ❤

After watching halftime shows now, where they are all lipsyncked. This was AMAZING! I heard Prince won the Superbowl that year 😊. When the mic fell to the ground towards the end, Prince let the audience finish it out. And cudos to the dancers in those high heel boots on a wet stage. Amazing performance, amazing reaction ❤ Thanks Hap ✌️ ☮️ 🎶

This Super Bowl Halftime show was crowned the greatest of all time. And for a good reason every time I listen to his music it just makes me feel so nostalgic even though I wasnt alive during his greatest hits, watching his older music videos and or listening to them makes me teary. I would like to thank Prince for letting me belt out sobbing while I hear him sing. I wouldnt use my tears on anyone else.

I have seen this a few times and what always goes though my mind (besides the great performance obviously) is everyone in heals (Prince included). How did anyone not fall on their behind on that slick stage? Also Prince's pants were so long how were they not soaking up wetness? HA! I could comment about the singing/special effects etc but others have covered that. Just things in my head.

I cried when purple rain came on. I absolutely loved Prince. He was such a dynamic artist and has yet to be outdone. The depth of his talent is unfathomable.

The lightning and thunder were effects for the TV audience, but the rain and wind were real.
That was during a storm. They told him not to go out. He said I want it to rain harder!
There was an electrician that literally stripped the wire cords and held them together through the whole performance. I THINK his name was Tony. Cudos to whoever that was.

Good reaction. Prince live was often quite different then Prince studio. When Prince played this, it was soon after wardrobe malfunctiongate and the censors were at high alert. So when Prince played his guitar behind the giant sheet, his guitar was a giant phallic symbol and was Prince snubbing the censors (who he had a longtime feud with). Also the Foo Fighters were hanging with Neil Peart and Rush when unbeknownst to them Prince was covering Best of You. Someone ran out to tell them Prince was covering them at the Superbowl. They said "cool"!. He did this because they covered Darling Nikki without telling him. Prince was the only artist (as far as i know)who added multiple covers to his Superbowl setlist. Sampling Queen, Dylan, CCR AND Foo Fighters. All live! No lip syncing like so many including you know who... Or air banding like Red Hot Chili Peppers(embarrassing). Real music played by real musicians. Legendary performance. Master at his craft!! RIP Prince 🥰
