    Olivia Munn is the best actress on the show. And its not just because she's hot. Aaron Sorkin characters and dialogue are difficult, and require actors to be convincingly supernaturally witty and intelligent. She pulls it off better than most.

    So fun fact cause I just noticed his handle on the troll forum “BlueJewel”.
    His first name is ‘Neel’. That means ‘Blue’ in Hindi and Sanskrit.
    His last name is “Sampat’. The word “Sampatti” means wealth in Hindi. And jewelry is included as a part of wealth in that word.
    Hence Neil Sampat = Blue+Jewel.

    • @s___r4531
      @s___r4531 17 дней назад

      Neal is actually short for Neelamani which, as you said, literally translates to Blue (Neela) Gem/Jewel (Mani), used as the term for Sapphire in Sanskrit (Will mentions this in an earlier episode).
      Neelamani is also another name for Krishna (the Hindu deity) who is usually shown to have blue skin.🙂

    if i can balance my checkbook why government cant balance its budget what a thought.

    • @DaHuntsman1
      @DaHuntsman1 9 лет назад +10

      Goof Love Well theres a difference between a family budget and a government budget.
      If you have a steady job and income, you always know what your income is, thus you can plan your family expenses around your income, thus its pretty easy to balance your checkbook that way.
      Now compare that to the Government, where its total amount of revenue is never certain, every year its different, some years the government collects more and some years it doesn't, thus programs which could be affordable one year suddenly are not affordable.
      with the second point of difference being the negotiation, while you can be a dictator and establish what your budget will be, the government has to literally fight with itself over where to appropiate its budget, and since every agency in the Federal Bureaucracy is aiming to get its own budget increased, it is almost impossible to satisfy everyone, thus that is why the US Government almost always overspends its budget and has to borrow money

    I love Sloan. She's a really fun character. She's one my favorite characters on a show I generally enjoyed quite a bit. I have a lot of great things I could say about her....And she should have been fired ages ago.
    The moment at 2:03 - and it's far from the only one or the most extreme in the series - makes her continued employment baffling to the point of breaking immersion. You *cannot* physically assault coworkers in the middle of the office and continue to work in that industry, not to mention in the same company. Her later escapades should have landed her in freaking *jail*. And yet all characters treat this violence not merely as normative or even understandable, but as endearing.
    It's a credit to Sorkin's writing and to the actors' acting skills that this actually works at all, on an emotional level; but the moment you think about it even a little bit, it doesn't work. Newspeople can't walk around beating people up, and no matter how talented, hardworking, attractive, or famous you are, any real-life person trying to pull off a Sloan Sabith would never work for a reputable news organization again.
    There, got that off my chest. Carry on...

      If you go back to the 1990s the term troll was first used for people who would "troll" mailing lists and b. boards making outrageous statements trying to get a reaction or disrupt conversations. It had the additional feature of comparing the troller to the mythological beast of offensive visage and nature. The term trolling was originally a fishing term.

      Neil always goes on these kind of things on the show, he even tried to get a story about Bigfoot passed which mac shut down... this however goes to the kind of people who literally sabotage and or derail comments for personal pleasure and only get away with it because the laws and conduct for the internet is not yet in place... people can get away with everything from death threats and rape threats to bullying people into committing suicide becasue they are anonymous on the internet...which in this case allows Neil to find a person who claims to have tried to kill Will previously.
