Sloan absolutely kills this scene, but one of my favorite touches is Neal putting his hand on Sloan's shoulder trying to restrain her. You can practically hear him thinking, "Oh god no, I see where this is going, please don't... yup there it is."
lol wasn't that hard to predict what was coming. She shit on Will, who Sloan loves, and called them condescending, despite acting like an arrogant brat herself. I could feel the sass coming haha
Neil could've slapped Shelly across the face with his wang and she'd probably have been less offended than she was by that absolutely savage insult lol

"Money honey" was a little harsh, but when Emily Mortimer offered Sloan the job she did specifically cite Sloan's legs as the reason she preferred her over other, equally well-qualified economists.
She was more qualified for the job. She is is well versed in economics and she has the features to keep people watching. I will admit, I rather watch her talk about money than some 75 year old dude.
I think that's different, Mac was being honest. I think it appealed to Sloan that Mac was so honest, and Sloan she's equally, if not more, qualified than the others that were in question. Although there is once where Don calls Sloan "money honey". She said he looks tense and he said "you got that backwards, money honey", she didn't mind but Don was a friend she was romantically involved with, not some random condescening professor.
The other thing that cannot be forgotten is that Shelly downgrades Sloan ("Money Honey") and continually elevates herself ("I teach college").....Yet, Sloan is considerably better educated than she is. Hence, if nothing else, I think tearing into her ego was warranted and necessary. A lot of people teach college; there are very few world class economists.
@@matthewdiano5226 Yeah, that's the big thing. Sloan was comparing herself to other world class economists and Mac was basically saying she needs to settle for 95% of the best because looks are important in show business. Shelly was treating Sloan like her economic background was little more than High School rather than someone who got two Ph.D's
It’s funny how Sloan is somehow perceived as being at fault for Shelby Waxfigure, yet Shelly was intentionally stubborn, indignant and stonewalling. Sloan was legitimately being kind and patient with Shelly since Will can be a hard ass to work with despite his good intentions. The interview went badly because Shelly (and others within OWS) wouldn’t recognize that having a leader for OWS would’ve helped cement a more stable public perception and therefore rallied better support of their cause.
The Newsroom on HBO. You should watch it, very funny and interesting take on how the media delivers various real news stories to us vs how it should. A little preachy at times but great cast, writing and stories.

The women went on Will's show and couldn't answer basic questions because Will exposed how silly the objectives of Occupy Wallstreet were and how they were planning to change things. Later in the episode, she admits she was so mean because she was just embarrassed in front of her students (on TV) that he made her look THAT stupid (when he didn't necessarily have to)
A very harsh but fair interview of Will questioning the value of leaderless movements, how they intend to change things, and the point of OWS beyond just being vocally angry.
