    Hey Ashton, I've been watching your videos for quite a while now and I have to say they're absolutely brilliant!! It would be awesome if you could do a Behind The Score episode for some of Ramin Djawadi's work on Game Of Thrones like the "The Winds Of Winter" or "Winterfell" themes. Another great one you could do would be the score to Vikings by Trevor Morris ("Ragnar's Sail"). Is it possible that you give us a little more in depth view on the harmonic progressions (used chords, voicings and modulations) in your future videos or include the MIDI Files like in this episode? This would be super helpful!
    Keep up the good work! :)
    Greetings from Germany

      Hey, thanks! Great recommendations. I'm definitely planning on exploring Game of Thrones this year. Vikings is another great one for sure. There's just so much music in GoT that I would likely have to make it season based. Any season in specific that you would be interested in?

      Thanks for the quick response! Well, I mean the main motifs stay mostly the same but i liked the soundtrack to the sixth season a lot.

    Just out of curiosity, what libraries are you using for your percussion? especially those cymbal rolls? they sound gorgeous! :D

      Grant Borland thanks Grant! The cymbals are CinePerc and the Timps are Percussion Redux from Spitfire. Also, that low boom is from HZ Perc.

    very nice work here. subscribing. :)

      They used an electric harpsichord on the main theme. It's very subtle. You can even see it listed on the IMDB. Thanks for subscribing! :)

    Ashton, do you actually create these score remakes from scratch? Do you get midi from somewhere? Or you have notation, or do you go from just audio? How do you get all the details?

    • @AshtonGleckman
      @AshtonGleckman  6 лет назад +1

      gnd Music Productions I don’t have MIDI or notation, everything comes from what I hear.

    • @studiognd
      @studiognd 6 лет назад +1

      Wow, I'm completely impressed. May I ask for your purpose of doing this? Is it a exercise for you, to learn how other composers do it? Or to get templates for your own compositions? Anything else of value? Would you recommend to others to do this as exercise, and what is the biggest benefit you can observe from it?

    How long does it takes to do this openig piece of 8 min?

    • @AshtonGleckman
      @AshtonGleckman  6 лет назад +2

      It's usually around a day for the initial sketches and formatting, then another few days to fill in all the orchestration, and then a final couple of days for the final mix. I think this one was around 6 days in total.
