    I would love to hear how the X version compares to 900 that I own. One thing I have to say... why the hell don't all Beyerdynamic headphones have removable cable like X series?! It would be great to change the default coiled telephone cable with the straight one without having to open up and solder a new cable.

    I've had the DT 770's for years. Mixed with these for a very long time. Here's my take:
    Best headphones I've owned for specific reasons. Yes! The Low end is more present and not flat ...BUT.....your'e not straining to hear the low end frequencies when producing and can clearly detect anomalies in the low end. Making producing a dream. If the low end is a little hot when you're ready to master....So what! You get used to it and hearing what your creating is best so not to strain your ears.
    So having the presence is important while you're creating music. Then when mixing the music you can easily get into the fine details of finalizing a nice flatter signal when youre done.
    Love those headphones. Would never buy another pair.

      Hi there! I've been looking to buy the DT 770 Pros for a while since getting the DT 1990s (amazing headphones btw, can't believe the level of detail/resolution) as I would like to enjoy a similar sound signature but on a closed back headphone - do you mind sharing which version you've got? I assume it's either the 80 ohm or the 250 ohm one. Thanks in advance!

    • @StageShout
      @StageShout 3 года назад +1

      @@dehydro ....I have the 80ohm. I use these with Apollo audio interface. Either an Apollo Symphony I/O or the Apollo Twin Duo series works fantastic. Just depends on what type of needs you have. You will not be disappointed in these headphones. I'm curious how the new DT 700's pro x's sound. Although once you get use to a set of headphones, its hard to change to what you know.

    • @dehydro
      @dehydro 3 года назад

      @@StageShout Thanks for the reply :) I won't really have an issue with powering either, just curious which version you fell in love with ^^ A lot of people claim the 250 ohm to have more pronounced mids/highs, but they get harsh apparently according to some. The 80 ohm is widely recommended, so I'll probably go for those, but then again.. the DT 700 Pro X are looking mighty fine, so I might dish out the extra cash for them once I've heard more opinions. Thanks again, peace! (edit: grammar lul)

    Hey Sean, thanks for this awesome review! My current situation is that I am looking for headphones exclusively for mixing and mastering. I don't have a treated room with good monitor speakers and my studio desk is also currently in a room that share's office space with my fiancé, so I spend a lot of time mixing when we are in the same room together or late in the evenings. As a result of that, I've steered away from Open Back headphones to avoid sound bleed and for more of an intimate mixing experience. I currently own DT 770 Pro 250 ohm cans which are powered by a FiiO K5 Pro headphone amp and I have had a lot of trouble dialing in the low end on my mixes with them as I just feel like there isn't enough there to accurately hear. I've been leaning towards these new DT 700's for this reason but from what I'm researching, a lot of people prefer open back headphones overall when mixing and mastering which I'm not afraid to try out if it will yield better mixing results. In your professional experience, do you feel that the DT 900 Pro X is better in the low end than the 250 Ohm DT 770 and would it be a better choice overall for mixing/mastering over the DT 700 Pro X? Or do you think I could get away with the DT 700's in this case and continue to not annoy my fiancé? Happy wife, happy life. lol. Thanks for your time man!

      Hi Dom, I personally prefer the sound overall on the DT700. The low end is definitely more full, so you won't have any issues hearing anything down there, even in to sub 30hz. I've been using them almost exclusively as main mixing / mastering reference cans since I got them. No complaints... and your wife will approve of the isolation :)

      @@TheFrenzyNetwork Hey man. I already owned a pair of DT 770’s. Was looking to upgrade those. I ended up purchasing both the 700 pro X and the 900 pro X and immediately returned them both. To my ears, they sounded WAY too mid range heavy with a complete lack of low end in comparison to the 770 pro’s. I ended up springing for a pair of DT 1990’s and I really like them! They are very flat but when I throw Can-opener on my mixbus it completely made them sound as if I was listening on closed back headphones with a more pronounced, rounded low end, so it was easier to mix. The DT 1990’s are WAY more versatile IMO. They are pretty pricey though.

    Today is the first day of testing the dt700 pro x. My first impression is that there is far too much bass, which drowns out the main vocal, this can be confusing when mixing. In the DT770 the main vocal is dominant, and the bass and instrumental dominate in the dt700 pro x. If the bass could be averaged between dt700 and dt770, that would be the perfect balance (dt1990 got that ideal balance). I would be afraid to mix / master with dt700 pro x. But for the beats production and a more detailed analysis of individual sounds, they are ideal and much more convenient than the dt770.

      @@creatiw From what I've heard/experienced, a higher impedance generally causes a more nuanced sound, where you may be able to hear subtleties you just can't with a lower impedance headphone. Also depending on your DAC/interface/whatever is being used to drive them, this causes colouration which is more evident at extreme amounts of volume. I.e. a headphone with a low impedance needs to be turned right down on a DAC to not be deafened, and this low volume can colour the sound. In saying this, I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes practically, and if not used for mixing / critical listening I'm not sure how much of a difference you'll encounter
