    Spoiler alert for the trolls... at no point did either of them give me the advice that I need to squat more upright, in fact Brian acknowledges that is not in my bio-mechanics... we need to focus on keeping my back in place throughout the movement.

    Honestly the main reason I like your channel is because a lot of your material is for the adept bodybuilder/powerlifter. I hate the “how to get a shredded six pack” videos that flood RUclips. THIS is the content that real athletes want. The information in this series has been pure gold. Thank you for allowing your supporters to see you learn how to become a better and more efficient lifter, these are the concepts that so many people need to hear in order to help us break PRs and stay healthy. You’ll be back and better than ever, stay the course, your ship is strong 💪

    Stu McGill is the man. Im so jealous that you were able to get assessed by him and to look at your form. I was introduced to him through my personal training certification that I did through Fit-Pro Academy by Dave Parise. We had to watch all of Stuart McGills videos and learn about the spine, forms, and herniations. And this was for just a CPT lol.

    What a gift to be able to see Dr Stu McGill coach.
    Props to Brian C for being such an insightful and eloquent exponent of the McGill way and to BioLayne for sharing this and his humility.
    I tried the Big 3 years ago and it was meh. Rediscovering it with new back pain, I realized how important the intensity is - this didn't come through for me in Back Mechanic back then, but watching video demos and feeling the results of doing them correctly was an epiphany.
    3 reps of each and I'm sweating 👍

    Curious if Dr. McGill has ever sent anyone to surgery? Aside from loss of bladder or paralysis, are there any cases where his methods just didn't work or there was some physical obstruction, like a piece of disc lodged in the epidural space, and surgery is the only option?

    Hi Layne,
    I enjpy this series because I am also "fixing my back" after a bad injury and surgery.
    A few quick questions about the "Mcgill Big 3"
    What time of day do you do them? does it matter?
    Is it 1x per day only?
    I have been doing 10 sec holds, max tension, for 5 reps each, or 5 reps/side for bird dog and side plank.
    Is that the correct protocol?

    Brother, I was deadlifting one day and I really hurt my back, then had my physiotherapy and I increased my mobilty to full extent and immediately after my recovery my mobility helped me with my electrical impulses and strength and I became an intermediate with squat of 180kg with 82kg bodyweight. I always do mobility and stretching 3 times a week and some mobilty work before my workout ,u know just to reach full range of motion, but now my "fucking back injury" returned after that mobilty work also. Brother what should I do?

    I did bird dogs before and gave up on them after a few tries because I wasn't sure what the point was. I could probably do 1000 and feel no muscle ache, and no stretch so what was supposed to be happening? I might try them the way McGill demonstrates in this video, seems more difficult.

    Can herniated disc actually be absotbed by macrophages, and can anulus fibrosus zhe surrounding tissue of disc heal at least as a scar tissue? If it can how long does it take aprox ?

    • @lionelson7098
      @lionelson7098 18 дней назад

      Yes, herniated discs can be absorbed by macrophages through a process called resorption. Macrophages help clear out the extruded disc material, which can reduce pain and other symptoms. The anulus fibrosus can heal, but it often forms scar tissue rather than regenerating the original tissue. This scar tissue is more rigid and less functional. Herniated Disc: Typically takes a few months to a year, with significant resorption usually occurring within 6 to 12 months. Anulus Fibrosus: Scar tissue formation can start within weeks, but complete healing may take several months. The healing process varies based on the individual’s health (age), extent of the injury, and treatment methods like physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, or surgery

    McGill seems like snakeoil salesman. Mechanical model for explaining back pain has been disputed long time ago. So it is preposterous to even open a book called Back Mechanic. All you can get from it is a one giant nocebo.
    Also, you will never squat heavy weights with that form, especially with elbows down as McGill suggested. And you know that Layne. There was almost nothing wrong with your form before.
    Hire Austin Baraki to manage your training and you'll be fine. This is not one of those weird exercise/mobility suggestions.

      He seemed to know everything intimately. Also from what I gathered he gave no guarantees or quick fixes. I think less is known in general about lifting mechanics as I'm not sure there's a way to lift to eliminate the risk of injury or even reduce it significantly with decent form, but he definitely knows the back.

    • @feigenkek9246
      @feigenkek9246 6 лет назад +2

      The way he sets you up in weird positions and the assumes there's no pain as if he's some kind of wizard is ridicilous. Sure, you can say that is because he knows what he's doing but correlation between structural, mechanical state of the back and pain is very very unconvincing in science. Doesn't mean you shouldn't care about mechanicsd. Again, contact Austin Baraki and have a chat with him. If you value scientific evidence you might consider working with him. This is a friendly advice.

    • @feigenkek9246
      @feigenkek9246 6 лет назад +3

      In response to Candor, yeah, so if we can't fix it with perfect form and even can't make it happen with bad form in most cases, what causes pain? The answer is more nuanced than mechanics. Back pain is not caused by mechanics, same as diabetes is not caused by sugar.
