The past stages have this mysterious yet fascinating vibe due how genuinely old they look, and the fact they made their songs using the Mega Drive sound chip was genius, it reminds me so much to those prehistoric illustrations about dinosaurs
Like, you know it's earth but it looks so alien and different you can't help but feel a bit of fear mixed with a ton of curiosity and excitement

No wonder, how the past levels (especially palm tree madness) reminds me a little bit of yoshi’s island
Well they were on the genesis sound chip bc im pretty sure they ran out of memory to put them on the cd sound chip. Palmtree panics prototype has a past song on the cd sound chip and sounds much different.

In a weird alternate universe Sonic CD has no time travel and these are the default stages

@@mappingsworld That is what Sonic CD is. You have to travel in the past to get a good future by destroying the transporter. If not you get the bad future
You can also get good future by collecting the time stones.

I really need a fan game to completely redo the level design of sonic cd. If that were to happen, it would be my favorite out of the sonic classics games. Oh, and also make it so you can only get a time stone through a ring by traveling to the future, so the future has a purpose.

In my opinion, the past stages are the best, probably because they were made with the intention of having to spend most of your time in them, and exploring them.
Fun Fact: If you were born in the 1990s, you're gonna have lots of 1990s memories, Especially when your playing Sonic CD from the 1990s

I feel very well knowing you got the roboticizers destroyed. It's impossible to not go one run without.
Fun Fact: There is a small part of the Sega CD that creates sounds that are not as good as the other one. Due to this, all of the past themes use the part.
It uses PCM with the co processor of the Sega cd, and gotta admit while its not rebook audio its catchy

the first time I managed to go to the past of Metalic Madness I got stuck, the doors at the bottom are closed, until I found out now that I could take a big shortcut on top

All the Past stage themes in this game were made with the Mega CD's PCM chip. My top 3 Past stage themes are:
1. Metallic Madness
2. Wacky Workbench
3. Palmtree Panic (the one for Tidal Tempest juuuuuuuust barely missed out on getting top 3)
If you look at a colour of a waterfall at palmtree panic past, the colour of the water is same like tidal tempest past water colour. So thats mean that flows at the palmtree panic past is from tidal tempest past

Are we not gonna talk about how metallic madness sounds like you're late for school or smth?
I mean, it is the location of eggman's base, and it's under construction which means he ain't ready for you just yet, and also since it's his entry point into the past, destroying the generator there hurts him so much worse than other points, which adds to the urgency of the situation.
in a sense, it's meant to emphasize the panic eggman has since you've basically caught him off guard and it's also meant to emphasize your chance to fix the future once and for all, by stopping the last generator
Tidal Tempest past has one of the best color schemes of any game, especially when viewed from underwater.

Why no Bosses for the Past variants?
Every third act in each level is always set in the future. Whether it be good or bad, depends on if you have all the time stones or destroyed all the generators in the past if you don't have all the stones.

Alright so how there is technology in the past ik it doesn't show the year that sonic was back to but like I can't comprehend it in metallic madness stage for example look at the stardust speed way in the past there is some stuff indicate that it's actually the past like the background has some ancient civilizations (old Romanian or Greece building) but metallic madness past stage still gives off the vibe that you're still in the future lol 😂
How far you go into the past seems to be inconsistent, which was probably intentional so they could get more creative with the stages.
Perhaps metallic madness was started way more before any other of the zones were started to get eroded by robotics apparently, perhaps at the 1st place Eggman landed and decided to make that into his base and focused on it way more and considering the past the fact that metallic madness is 100% eroded by machinery make sense

You messed up big time on the metallic madness stages. You failed to destroy the robot generators there. Leading to a BAD Future.

I can’t believe Eggman spent all that time building it and still none of the bosses have more than four hit points

Off-topic, why exactly did Eggman even build them just so you can fight them in a future that’s dependent on whether you destroyed the robot generators and Metal Sonic projectors? Did he like time-travel himself and his machine to the future? Honestly, I thought it would take him years to make the bosses fully fledged.
@@GMKGoji01 you know, since all of the bosses are pretty weak, and have little hit points compared to the average eight hit points I just decided to joke on them and also I kind of got that theory from sonic CD in 3 minutes (sorry if I got the time of the video wrong)
