After YEARS and years of searching for a worthwhile webcam, one that doesn't look terrible and actually saves your settings through reboots, I have found one. This is the HuddleCam HD 4K USB webcam. It supports 1080p and 4K over USB 3.0 or HDMI (or both), saves your settings even across computers, and has an extra super power that unlocks some creative potential.

I was actually just looking at these but couldn't find any good videos on it. Thanks!
Omg seeing you so young is a trip. And that room? What a come up! Amazing to see where you started from to where you are now. You are one of my biggest inspirations Adam
Well thank you, I'm flattered.
Omigosh! I can't believe you just name dropped CrashKoeck's channel! Ive been following him for years, and that guy has a high tiered channel unlike any other.
your intro is phenomenal i love your layout love your vids
Looking at possibly getting 4 or 5 of these for my recording studio (NDI version). Yours is the first review video I've found with some real world footage and it doesn't look bad at all!
Looks even better with more light. Will show in my NDI review
@@EposVox Looking forward to it!!
This looks super interesting! I will have to look into this. Very cool, thanks for the video Adam! 😀💚
Thanks for the great info. I started using this camera for my watercolor zoom classes. It was recommended to me and what attracted me was the remote zoom feature. This camera makes it so easy to show close up views of my paintings. I watched your video because I needed know how to change the resolution. I will use your info and check out the Avaya Camera menu to see if I can actually figure out how to do that. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks
I see that they also have an NDI Version of this camera that also has the same features but I would love to see how that performs especially for folks who run NDI for their streaming PC instead of using a capture card since you're not bottlenecking the bandwidth on the BUS but running straight over a Gigabit network.
Great review as usual Epos!
Me wondering why the webcam footage looks so blurry...
Google: Haha you dont think we'll be giving you 1080p by default don't ya. Here have some 480p footage
OMG I was like "WTF this camera looks trash". Thanks for bringing that up.
same with me, haha
1:58 "Can do 4K 30 or 1080p Si|-CHOP-|". Yeah, I was with you up until you had to edit that out. 1080p 30 for that price bracket isn't good enough. Sure the programable auto pan and stuff is cool but perhaps not worth the frame sacrifice.
Thank you for this video🌴, Love the Intro 👍
Looks like a descent camera. Thanks for the cool tip man !
I still think for this kind of money you just can grab a older go pro and a cantlink or even a camlink
I have been interested in this camera for several months and finally picked one up today. Based on the reviews, the camera seemed perfect for my needs with a clearly sharp picture (due to the 4K sensor) compared to any other in-built and external camera I have tried (I own several logitech and mevo cameras as well). At first everything seemed to look fine , however, I discovered a major issue while on my first webcam session with a friend. I noticed extremely tiny white dots on my face. (I have dark skin which made it more obvious). I didn't notice these for the first 20 minutes, in fact the image looked incredible. However, as I was demonstrating the camera 's ePTZ features to my friend these dots did not move and under 8x zoom became larger and some of them were mildly pulsating.
I then started troubleshooting the issue (cleaned the lens of dust, varying the background, increased/decreased the lighting, etc.) Then I came to a startling conclusion. When viewing the full mage generated by the camera in a pitch black environment (put the camera in a box) I can see about 70 little white dots scattered all over that are brighter than the background throughout the frame. Some dots are less bright, some are more bright, some are off-white, some stay solid while some pulsate. Once I noted the location of a few of these dots, when I look at the image generated by the camera under normal light conditions I can easily spot the them, especially when zooming in. I may have a defective unit, but I suspect that the sensor that is being used by the manufacturer is of poor quality and that this is a common problem that largely goes unnoticed. I will be returning the camera and letting PTZ Optics know of my experience.
Might just have to look at PTZ cameras in general for a webcam solution. The webcam Industry has been sitting in the corner eating glue for years and quality hasn't changed at all. Thanks for covering this.
ouch, 600NZD (299USD) for a webcam is a pricepoint that takes it out of the equation, esoecially when I can get an SL3/200d Mk ii/250D DSLR for not much more. Great advance in capabilities but webcam prices are just stupid right now.
Will rather buy a camlink or a capture card...that way i can use any dslr or mirrorless camera i own....its too expensive wont buy it
Honestly, if they can just go ahead and put a phone camera module into a webcam form I would be great.
My s9+, while not as super wide as the webcam, looks miles ahead.
Hell, my old android phones are holding up better and with 5 dollar apps, you can make them wireless too.
You can buy those for less than the webcam
@@annekedebruyn7797 you can. Droidcam OBS
If you're able to find the time, I'd really like to see some demos of this webcam in daylight or a brighter setting, looks a little noisy in the low light setup you have and it's hard to really judge the quality. In this video it only looks marginally better than the Logitech Streamcam to my eye.
About time! It seems like web cam makers really dropped the ball. I mean making a decent web cam can surely be done for less than the cost of a cam link and a dslr...
The PlayStation neon sign looks SO sick!!
I would most likely go and buy this cam except it's on backorder until sometime in October 2020. No hurry though I can wait.
Any chance this cam can be controlled via a Stream Deck?
$300? Jeeze, I got a Sony A5100 a month ago for $280 to solve my Webcam problem thanks to Corona resellers.
Now I have a camera and a Webcam
Would you do me a favor? What lenses is good for the camera as webcam? If you can send me the link where you bought them, I'd appreciate it.
@@amazdrm me too
@@amazdrm Sigma 16mm f1.4 is "the" go to lens for the Sony Alpha series cameras for streamers/youtubers.
Epos just wondering if you have done a video on using an android phone such as samsung etc for a webcam including how to set it up? Like a budget stream guide vid. I've been looking at the different options and noticed this review while in a box store yesterday and still can't decide which way to go. Is it a terrible idea to use my phone or is it much more easy to use a webcam? Thanks and I'm enjoying the videos. Thanks for your hard work
Thanks you. I just subscribed! Quick Question: Can I connect this camera to a smart tv and view live on my TV to monitor?
ur intro is sick !
Cool channel! I'd want to run this HuddleCam into a Roland switcher v-1hd.....would I still need a capture card or would it work directly with HDMI cable?
Would like to know wich option provides better quality.. gopro 8/9 as a direct webcam or using a 4k camlink with a gopro 7??? Both for internal video recording and webcam stream.
$300 WEB cam? DAAAANG! For not much more I could get a Sony a5100 and capture card...🤦
Erm...if you find one that cheap, send me the link lmao
@@bluebehrry8473 they are out there, just gotta look
Some people consider time to hunt for parts and assemble their solution as part of the cost.
I got my camera + cap card for the same price.
That is what I am running. The only issue is that the 5100 overheats.
I mean, seems impressive, although with a pricetag to boot. Starting to really reach that breakpoint where you could get a DSLR or mirrorless instead.
$300 for a webcam with that quality? You're kidding right?
300 is steep for a web cam, but the quality is really high. I have been needing a 2nd camera for when I do live mixing videos, but didn't want to buy a 2nd gh5. I will probably pick one up when I get paid from work. Great video by the way.
love your videos true and honest
Does it have an aperture priority mode? What’s the F-stop range? Thanks! , great video.
You reviewed a number of the newer 4K webcams, so would you recommend the Avermedia PW513 webcam or the Huddlecam HD Pro?
That webcam's also a lot bigger than others. As small as the mechanisms are in most webcams, they're going to fall flat.
It seems to be excellent for the prosumer and creative types that want to go beyond the standard. Yeah, pricey, but great what you can get out of it
In the UK there is the Konftelcam 20 which appears to be the same thing based on appearance, spec and price £240-260 . Can't find the NDI equivalent.
I want that playstation neon sign!!!
can you take a look at their more standard fair conferencing webcam? It's 89 bucks, so Logitech webcam, price, and it has an OSD that you can use to adjust settings, not sure if they persist or not though
Our standard webcam does save settings as well. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the review, I actually have two of these and I use it with ecamm live one facing me and another overhead view to show what I’m writing on a whiteboard etc, my problem is with the ptz zoom feature, I get the camera facing me to zoom to my liking but 2nd camera also get zoomed in or out. Any help appreciated
This looks solid! The controls are a total win, imo.
Is this compatible with a Mac? Aside from the remote, is there software that's Mac-compatible, or do I have to use OBS?
The features are great. I wish you had tested the follow me feature. What about the cheaper 1080p version of the camera? Could that one be better than the c920?
I use this as a B-Cam static wide shots in live productions. It looks remarkably good, but I think it's a Sony sensor, so it makes sense.
10:32 "the more noise you have, the harder it is for our encoder to compress".
//comment to self: keep that in mind!
This seems like it would pair well with that new Avermedia Duo capture card. For the price of a DSLR alone you can get the capture card with built in camlink equivalent and this camera and hit the ground running as a streamer.
Would be great to get a decent HD webcam ... if only the mac actually came with a super high quality one in the first place then it would be great. Any time I use a webcam (good quality or not) the result is a very jerky response in a variety of apps
When will this be available for purchase? Looks like it's only avail for preorder.
Great finally found something I want and it's unavailable anywhere!
Welcome to my life
Just buy a DSLR, about the same price anyway and you can have a camera instead of just a webcam. Imo at this price point this cam just isn’t worth it
@@VB_Bryan depends on the application. For streaming? Yeah go DSLR, for professional use in things like conferencing and education this is extremely useful
@@sonicwingnut if you're watching this video its obviously in search of it for webcam use
@@VB_Bryan Actually while I am an amateur content creator, I'm also an AV tech for a university and I'm looking at alternatives for lecture capture and video conference systems for smaller rooms, where expensive PTZ cameras aren't financially viable. I was aware of Huddlecam's more expensive solutions but this video made me aware of their new webcams - in particular the NDI version of this thing cos we've been looking for an IP-based cam that's appropriate for content creation as opposed to security cams.
Basically my argument to my superiors is universities are becoming more like content creators, and we need to learn from videos like this and step up the quality of our recordings.
That ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon!
interesting. It is worth checking out. My initial big negative is like virtually every other web camera available, it is only available in wide or very wide H FOV. Why doesn't anyone make a narrow FOV or have two models? This is fine for some things, but for single user video calls, it is 3x wider than it needs to be, thus wasting away about 75% of the pixels on a digital zoom. This has turned in to a big deal during Covid home meetings where everyone is distracted looking at everyone messy and personal home background images. Sticking the zoom preset through a reboot however will help with that a bit over the old standby C920.
Did you ever/are you still planning to do follow-up videos about the HuddlecamHD's NDI version or tips for how to adjust its settings and lighting for better image quality? The fact that it has both USB 3.0 and HDMI outputs and solid image quality have me very interested, but I just wanted to see if it had any more potential before I made the purchase. 🤔
P.S. Your channel is awesome! I've learned so much about streaming tech since I found your content a couple weeks ago. Thank you!👏😤
oh..im so thankful that youtube recommended this video 2 days after i ordered a more lackluster webcamera..Im so THANKFUL!..
Did you actually watch the video or did you just listen? He says its great but the image is soft and blurry. Ridiculous.
They even have an NDI version. I'm sold!
The NDI version is 500 bucks, might as well buy a mirrorless.
Great review! Can you connect this camera directly to a video mixer using the only the HDMI port?
Did you find out whether you can do this? And power the cam over USB without it into a PC
Sold out already ??????
We are in back order hell .
Sadly it doesn't look like they ship to Australia or have any other resellers over here. Please let us know if you come accross any alternatives to this because the Huddlecam would have been perfect for my setup since I can't add another capture card for a mirrorless cam with all my PCiE slots being filled.
At $299. it better zoom . But will it wash and wax my car ? It really is very cool and I love the wide angle capability as well as zoom. That remote is a game changer I think for those of us that don't already have switchers . Thanks again man !
Your room is so fucking cool Vox. GOALS !
You really should have shown the auto framing function for those of us who want to use this for the home office, and visiting with younger grandkids on Zoom. It seems to perform much like the Facebook Portal but this is almost 50% more.
No way!! There's actually a proper USB port on it!! Not that permanently attached cable garbo!!
Can you use this with camera control on a stream deck and/or with switchers that require HDMI to connect ex Roland V 1HD+
You can get a brio for about 180 - 230 bucks on amazon rn. Got mine last week for 180 and im pretty happy with the results so far. Doesnt have as much features or settings but also doesnt cost 300. The hdmi out and remote are pretty cool tho.
This. No reason to chuck out 300$ for this webcam sponsored or not.
Looks like a rebranded Konftel Cam20, or they partnered with Konftel to make a modified version of the Cam20, or maybe the other way around. Not sure...
I would like to shoot two-person interviews with this webcam. Is it possible to predefine multiple 4K crops (full image, closeup person 1, closeup person 2) and switch between them by clicking specific buttons on the remonte control?
i hope the price could reach 200usd, that would really justify the price, cuz for 300usd its just plain better to get a camlink with a used A5100, since u basically can use the camera also outside of being plugged to your pc.
Nonetheless, finally a company taking the step into the right direction in the webcam department.
@JuneAyayaTop As you don't record with the camera it should be fine. At least my A6000 could handle a almost 3h session without problem
My question is can i plug it directly into a BLACK MAGIC ATEM MINI and would it work instantly can you make a video showing that please would be great then surely i will get this...
Waiting on your reply thank you!!!!
how does this compare to the AVerMedia Live Streamer CAM 513. A Plug & Play USB 3.0, 4K UHD, Wide-Angle Lens Webcam (PW513)
Omg they do an IP-based version with a network port - I do AV for a university where we're implementing lecture capture across the entire campus and all the options under like £1000 for fixed IP cameras were security cams.. and frankly sucked. If we can feed their IP-based streams into Echo360 then it'll massively improve it.
Aluratek 4k. Similar cmos sensor, $200 less. No remote though or software.
Just picked it up though over my old logitech and its actually really nice.
Hey bro, thanks for the video. Just want it to know if its compatible with ATEM Mini? Can you help me?
PTZOptics has a webcam as well which looks pretty solid as a budget option. Unfortunately just 1080p MJPEG over USB2 and no physical remote - but still EPTZ Control and full manual Settings (don't know if it's saved inside the camera but it should be as their PTZs do). And they're just around $100 - maybe that's a solid budget option. (It's their PT-WEBCAM-80)
(AFAIK my work can request product samples from PTZOptics, maybe I'll be able to check the webcam out - let me know if someone's interested)
Oh and on a side note: AVAYA (HC020) and Konfitel (Cam20) are selling the same Webcam at the same price point - maybe they're more available in some countries (There's no B2C Reseller for HuddleCam in Germany but I can get one of the before mentioned easily).
Epos, does the software make the webcam work on multiple programs similiar to how logicam works?
Is there any noticeable lag when using the HDMI output connected directly to the HDMI input of a TV?
Maybe Huddlecam can make the worldwide purchase options clear, being B2B maybe they didn't need to advertise purchase points on their site and I have not found it on amazon India.
Did you also try the webcam's built-in mic?
So could I use this to livestream from a browser on my smart? tv :)
Using one of my favorite songs by Pylot? PoG
I love PYLOT! Used their music for years
Sorry to trouble you, is this still the best that's out there with an HDMI output? And do you know if this would have any issues running 24 hours a day?
People complaining about the $300 forget that the brio is around that price, lol. After seeing this, this looks like the top of the food chain for webcams.
Woah! Looks better then my A6100 lol
If you have good lighting and on the right settings the a6100 should look much better
Is it just me or is there a soft-focus issue on your face throughout the entire video? The camera seems to be focusing on the metal box in the foreground.
....maybe the universe is trying to tell us about, the metal box...
Seems the whole image is in focus, note the mirror and DVDs also are in focus behind Eposvox. Yes the face seems horribly blurry
Oh wow, was reading other comments and discovered it's Google encoding at lower rate is horrible. Stepped up to 1080p and it looks great
Excellent video, thanks for the thorough review! So looking around I found a camera (Avaya HC020) that’s eerily identical to the HuddlecamHD, and its $100 cheaper, any feedback about that? Maybe you could do a comparison between both of these cams? Thanks again!
@@filosofote smart phone plus Camo =
Forget about all their crap Webcams !
What is this amazing music in the background?!?!
4k YUY2, finally a reason for USB 3.2 Gen2x2 webcams :P
Maybe it's time to look at PTZ cameras in general
So.....about that 1080p ssss-......??
How does the hdmi output behave?
Low latency? Camera output hdmi without computer host?
I do stage plays, will this be good or work for that
why can i only buy it on their website and what is the price?
where in God's name did you get a PS one logo, in NEON. OMG!
that deserves a video!
I looked on the website. $98 is pretty good price far what they pack into the camera.
Regarding physical tilt/pan, I would suspect you can mount it on a little flexible tripod like the monkey grip or whatever they call it.
I wish it had a built in ring light like my Razar Kiyo but I can certainly work around that.
Razar Kiyo sucks lemons BTW.
It's $349, not $99.
But is it better than Avermedia PW513 what you recently showed us ?
Yeah, nice to have access to all the settings for sure but... underwhelming quality to me personally. Not sure the price is worth a settings menu. Great info as always though, thanks.
i was looking for something like this, apparently not readily having a webcam for online classes makes participation not valid Q.Q Edit: $339.. can you do one that is more affordable for a student??
just looked for a price on this in the UK for £450, for that it should come with a free barrel and ball gag!
Check out the Konftelcam 20, I reckon it's the same thing but about £250ish. Still no gag though...sadly!
Can you ask about UK/EU resellers?
The image from this camera is "curved" - for example, the walls in the room are convex, like... ( ) instead of square [ ] Is this normal? Can't find any setting to change this. It's a damn shame, cause otherwise, it's a good camera. Any insight? (Any chance there is an answer to this?) Initial impression of this camera was not good...
100% accurate
Q would this work through a HDMI capture card to
Love my video capture and cameras over any webcam. $40 capture cards and any Pocket cameras with clean hdmi rock
A great review!, Honestly it's just hard to justify the price point given that you could get a Canon rebel 7 and capture card for that price and potentially have better quality. I'm not knocking it, I think it is definitely a viable option, just not one I feel like is worth the cash. mind you I'm seeing it at a $550 price point at the moment
