Lol your walk and demo would have come out better had you had half a dozen slices of bacon and a quart of grits to go with them eggs 👍 and maybe a couple of Dutch oven biscuits. 😜

You know I couldn't help but notice your spoken narrative (for the video) and realized that's exactly what I sound like when I'm alone . Seems I don't do anything when I'm alone without telling me about it. Probanly because I'm so smart that I want to make sure I agree with what I'm doing. Anyways, he keeps me company. But it always amazes me that I let me do a lot of completely stupid stuff, too!

Congratulations on a great channel, mate. Your ideas and tutorials are economical, innovative, and ecologically oriented. Your presentations have a great appeal for those who either don't have a lot of money to spend, have a love for the environment, and who support re-purposing, and reuse of what's already available, or a combination of all.... Cheers.

I really like the idea of using the hinges as a cooking surface I would have never thought of that .. I have some old gate hinges and a 8X8 grate that I am going to cook up some Hot Dogs for lunch..that is a great way of using crap thats not being use for anything and turning into a useful tool. great video and idea. well done.....Thanks

Very interesting! And a great idea! My father had a friend about 60 years ago who made one of these with handmade hinges from his blacksmithing forge. The big difference was that his did not come apart the way yours does. He used his in his forge shed to make coffee in a boiler type coffee pot. I like your version much better so I am going to make one of my own. Thank you for the memory and the idea!

I have made these before along with the door handle trivet and they both work nice but on this one I use the same kind of carriage bolt you used for the door handle one and leaned over the thread end a little so that the wing nut did not back off all the way also I have found that if you use a small diy grill to it that just over laps the top of the hinge legs where they fold you can also use smaller cook sets ( Stanley and boyscout style and does not add a lot of weight and takes up very little room as they are flat mesh screens but work very well with this. As for a bottle I found something that also works for olive oil and you can add a spout to it that works nice to that you can see through it is a small hospital mouth wash bottle and a eye drop cap after it is cleaned out of course they fit perfect together and about 4 0z of oil and you can see thrue the bottle to keep track of the amount you have in the bottle. Keep up the good work and thank you. Btw what kind of bag did you use for transportation the trivet or does it matter?

I enjoyed your comment, “We cook over coals”. I grew up in south-central Alaska and I could never figure out what the outdoor magazines and survival literature (that I devoured) were talking about. Coals from a fire? Where? Spruce fires dissolve into ash. No coals. It was not until I came “outside” (an old term for stateside) that I understood. A fire from hardwood is a HOT flame. Not only that, there ARE coals that are hot enough to cook over!
