- If you're thinking of buying a smart wifi thermostat, check out my Netatmo thermostat review. I run through the pros and cons of installing the thermostat, connecting it to wifi, and using it via the App and website.
My Netatmo thermostat review is completely impartial and is reviewed using the Android version of the Netatmo App. I'm unable to provide an iPhone app comparison unfortunately.

Nice vid, just got one of these and was also initially confused a little about the black and grey wires but noticed in the instructions they have a little note to say that there is no polarity for the black and grey cables. So looks like they had a few queries with this and updated accordingly.
Hey guys. Just to let you know the display on my thermostat broke in October 2018, so it had a lifespan of approx 2 years and 9 months. The thermostat has a 2 year warranty so Netatmo aren't willing to replace it. I'll be buying a replacement so let me know what other smart thermostats you're shopping around for.
Hi, can’t decide between nest or the Honeywell tr6. Which one would you recommend?
Hey Warren, great video. It is a shame about the screen and its lack of information it shows.
Do you know if the thermostat can be controlled through Samsung SmartThings? Thanks
Cannot believe how much I love this. Got it to go with my Echo Dot. The web interface makes it fantastically easy to set times and temps :)
And for what it's worth, I have a Virgin Media hub (UK) and a Note 7 Edge. I had no problems at all with connecting the app to the system and getting it working.
Hi Warren! I have problem with conneciting my relay, could you tell me where i can find software to install thermostat on my computer? Couldn't find it on the netatmo webstite
Thanks Warren for posting this review - exactly what I needed before making my purchase - much appreciated!
+alphamale068 You're welcome :-) what thermostat do you think you'll go for?

This is great Warren, very informative. I'm thinking of buying the Netatmo and this is a very useful review
+Doug Bond Great. Glad you found it helpful.
+WarrenNash did you notify Netatmo about the incorrect wiring in their video you discovered?
Hi, i just got the unit. Works as designed but i can not get nor find the HomeKit code to link it to my iphone. Help center sais: For the Thermostat, the HomeKit code will appear on the Thermostat screen. It never does. How do i get it showing?
Thanks
Hello all, one question --> will valves work withour hardwiring to termostat? in our flat we have central heating, so i believe I won´t be able to do hardwiring stuff. My idea is to control valves on radiators only via app. Is that possible?
I've just ordered this as part of my new energy plan, now before this arrives I want to know, should a professional being installing this? I've always been to scared to touch my boiler 😂
great video looking into one of these for my home, very informative video.
Is it still working well for you after this time?
Great video, thanks. Does it work via Apple Homekit and Control Center? Also, are you planning on upgrading to smart radiator values when they're released? Thanks.
Hi there. I'm unsure about whether it's compatible with Homekit. No plans to upgrade to the radiator valves at present.
Hello, i have the same problem than you, with the connection on the phone. Once you have setting up the relay by usb with the computer, it was possible to manage the thermostat with the app on the phone ?
Thanks in advance,
Mate
Hi there, yes, once set up via USB, it did work on the phone for me afterwards.
Does this only work with a combi
Hi Don't know if you can help but which ever way round I connect the wires it wont turn the boiler on. Any ideas ?
Hi Craig, I wouldn't want to advise without seeing your boiler set up. May be worth getting a gas engineer out?
Many thanks Warren, totally helpful video, excellent!. We are all set, downloaded app on iphone. however, the schedule set on the phone does not communicate to the boiler so we keep having to activate the thermostate manually. How is that possible?
hi warren thanks for this informative video.
I have a quick question, i just bought this thermostat and connected the relay to the wall adaptor directly without connecting to the boiler to test the equipment. configured wifi, everything worked ok but as soon as its all configured, it says unable to reach the thermostat. even though its connected to the relay, no signs of any issues, but no matter what i do, the relay doesnt connect to the thermostat.
is it necessary to attach the relay to the boiler in order for it connectivity to thermostat to work?
Hi there I'm really not sure unfortunately. I imagine this would be the case, but best to reach out to Netatmo customer care.
Good review
soooo, no controlling via thermostat itself, just via app or website? is the app able to connect via local network, for example when internet connection is down? the same with www, does relay have local/direct web interface?
+Daniel Kamiński Hi there. You can control temp via thermostat (up or down) but the rest is via app or web. Not sure about local network unfortunately. I'm actually having problems with it at the moment and the thermostat keeps disconnecting from the relay :-(
Thanks for helpful review. How is the unit doing now?
Hi! I have a Netatmo weather station which is well worth getting if your interested and you can link it to your thermostat! Having had your thermostat for some time now do you think you have saved money with it???
Hi Matt, I would certainly say I have, in combination with a smart meter.
It has a pictogram when the boiler is on. You said that you don’t know when it is on, wich is untrue
Does the relay need mains power supply? I found conflicting answer.
+TheDropForged Hi there. It does need power. This can be taken from the boiler power, or plugged in separately. It's easier to plug straight into the boiler for power.
That little adapter that he put on the wall has 4 wires live (brown)and a neutral (blue) and call for heat and heat off (grey and black)
I have two questions:
1) When you first install the thermostat can you complete the installation if you don't have internet access? Just a wi-fi network?
2) same with Daniel Kamiński, if you can control it in a local network
Internet access is needed to set the Netatmo account up and control the thermostat from your phone (you can't control it from your phone locally). However, I think you'll be able to set the thermostat up without internet connection.
The LS AND LR shouldn't make a difference one is call for heat and the other is heat off I install thermostats from nests to this I've never had any trouble with combi boilers only trouble I've had with this is one of my customer never had a Apple or Android phone so had to setup via pc and use web on customers windows phone but still a good video tho.
Thanks for the insight.
The indicator is at the bottom a electrical symbol
shame it has no back light :(
