Just be sure that if you are using wind sensor that it can get wind every possible direction. I have seen too many weather stations on the balconies where wind can only come from 50% or directions because house has been blocking other 50% of directions. IMHO it's useless to get/collect data what you already know will be incorrect.
Agreed. As mentioned, in my case, it's impossible. It's not ideal but it's the best I can do. I cannot mount it in an ideal location so it will always be partially obscured. I can accept the limitations of the data on wind. 👍🏻
Regarding data going missing in case of transmission failure - it's a drawback worth noting but it's probably for a good reason. The main power consumer of these units is likely to be the wireless radio so what it does to make those batteries last for so long is to turn it off the instant it isn't being used. It could use a TCP/IP protocol or similar to establish a connection with the base unit, send a payload of variable length, verify with the base station that the transmission was successful, before terminating communications. Or it could just "shout out" the raw data every 5 minutes and immediately switch off the radio. That would mean a significantly shorter amount of time the radio has to stay powered, and there is also no need to expend any power receiving data back.
Re your problems with room to room communication: it sounds like reinforced concrete which tends to degrade wireless signals due to the Faraday cage effect. So low transmitter power from a battery driven device means that the steel reinforcement unfortunately blocks some of the signal.
Thanks for the very thurough review. I am considering using this for a kitesurfing club I am part of. The big question I have is can I make the dashboard public to all the members of the club or better yet embed the dashboard onto our website so members can log on and go to a weather page to check out what this wind is doing.
I've been looking for a weather station that works with HomeKit and it appears this does. Do you know if it's available in the USA? Great in-depth review. Loved it.
Hi! Good and informative video. Probably a long shot: do you know if it's possible to calculate degree days (accumulated degrees over time when temperature is over 5C°) with Netatmo? As a farmer degree days is a very good indicator for when to harvest and so on.
you are clearly a knowledgeable person on this product. However, the video drones on. Keep it simple, and to the point. It would help you drive higher engagement. Max length could easily have been under 10 minutes.
The number shown is the Air Quality Index figure (AQI) for the pollutant with the highest number in your area at that time. This is not measured. It's taken from online data based on your location. For example, as I write this, mine is stating the main pollutant is pm2.5 with an AQI of 29 (0-50 is good).
I also have netatmo weather station and it falls out of the network all the time it is annoying and aut dor unit has stopped working these netatmo weather stations are not good qualities and di are expensive
Love this video I have an old weather station and it broke so I need to get another one and this is it

Makes sense. The difference in battery life would probably be significant. Thanks for the explanation 👍🏻

You could use IFTTT and feed the data into something that calculated that...

What does the air quality number mean? scale, index, would be nice to know what it means...

So the weather forecast is not from the weather station? It’s from an external provider?
Correct.
will the rain gauge work without weather station
No. The central weather station (the taller silver hub) is always needed as that’s the mains powered and internet connected part.
Can be use any smart phone?
Android and iPhone.
Can you turn off the sound meter?
No. I can see why you might want to though.

Yes. Definitely overpriced for what they are but they kind of have a monopoly in the area of simple consumer weather stations now. 🤨
