Will these thermostats work without wi-fi?

How is the Google Nest better at connecting with Alexa than the Ecobee 4 that features built-in Alexa voice services?

I just got the Emerson Sensi Touch thermostat but for the life of me I just can't find the usage report! I checked the manual, I checked every options under the settings menu. I want to see how much energy I'm using and see whether the kids are playing around with the thermostat (even though I always tell them not to!)

The usage report can be found in your smartphone app, Sensi. Just load up your app, press the arrow that says "Sensi" on the right side of your screen. Over there you will be able to access your detailed usage report. By the way, Sensi will send you that report at the end of each month by e-mail so you can check it from there if you don't want to fiddle around the app!

I don't have a ''C'' wire, whatever that is. Can I still install the Ecobee thermostat? What else will I need to install it, do I need to go down to the hardware store?

Yes, you still can install the Ecobee Smart Thermostat in your home even if you don't have a C Wire. You're going to need a Power Extender Kit which is included with your purchase so you won't have to visit any hardware shop. Thanks!

Are all of these Alexa compatible? Do I only need to use the thermostat for Alexa or not?

Yes, all of the thermostats I mentioned in this list are Alexa compatible. However, only one of them comes with Alexa already built-in and that is the Ecobee Smart Thermostat. The other ones need a proprietary Amazon Echo Dot device to have Alexa functionality. If you don't already have an Echo in your home, you will not be able to use Alexa even though they are Alexa compatible.

On the Amazon listing it says Google Nest needs 2 AAA batteries. How often should I be changing them? I'd hate my thermostat to go out!

Hello there! The Google Nest thermostats usually get their power from your system's already existing heating and cooling wires. Yes, you put 2 AAA batteries into the device but those are used as a measure of backup if you have problems with your system's existing wires. In an ideal scenario, you wouldn't have to change your Nest thermostats' batteries any time soon. Hope I was able to help!

So the Emerson does not work with Alexa, right? Because you did not mention that

I must have glossed over that because the Emerson Sensi Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is Alexa compatible, although keep in mind that you would need a pre-existing Amazon Echo device (or buy a new one if you didn't have it). Thanks for pointing this out!
