I think you could have bought the whole back sill? ok mine is coming you should warn people take the fuel tank off. That my next step. Glad you guys are still alive wtf
If you google the repair Manual for your Jeep, there are pdf versions in the tj forums. It shows where all the spot welds are and so on. Hope this helps for future jobs hahah
lol, thanks man, which i took that into account
Can you tell me where you bought the parts
My sill is ok but the body mounts inside the rear panel are rotted where did you order yours ?
I was the same. I just cut a square in from the wheel well. I made a square of 1/4 steel that fit inside the area and welded a nut on. I then did rosette welds to attach to the sill
I ended up doing the rear panels and the rear sil it was cheaper at jegs had a friend order it and mail it to me was cheaper than the 350$ here in Canada
I’m rebuilt a 1981 Jeep cj5. So lots of rotted parts, I didn’t know what this part was called I was just gonna get square rubbing and weld it in…
I got it from 4wheel parts. Not sure if it’s the same for CJs but it could possibly be
Hey man. wonder where you bought the rear cross sill? Appresiate it and thank you for the video.
Odds are you found it but for anyone else it can be found at Summit Racing
Hey man, this video has been an enormous help to me as it is the only view of the structure of the rear tub I can find. But I'm hoping you can help answer a question for me:
Starting at 2:35 you unbolt two small brackets from the tub. These are attachment points for child seats. My early TJ does not have a nut (or a hole) in the tub in those locations, and I'd like to add them myself. My question: Are these nuts positioned vehicle-forward of the "backing plate" (that you accidentally cut) so as to be accessible from under the vehicle? Or do they fall inside the cross sill and are thus inaccessible? I'm afraid it's the latter. Thanks again for your video!
I would have to look at my Jeep closely to give you a proper answer, send me a DM on Instagram and we can chat. I’ll send you some pictures aswell and hope that can help! Thanks for supporting me man, means a ton!!!
