It's hard for me not to think of DRFSR as my favorite. From the time I plugged that cassette into my bright yellow Soni walkman with the fierce mega base button I didn't listen to anything else until the second I unwrapped Cherry Pie. In those days I didn't have an appreciation for a well written song I only knew Jani's vocals rocked my World. Of course if I had a Soni Walkman I'm much older and can now recognize Jani for all that he was. Without question one of the Most talented Front men and Songwriters of my time. With all the amazing songs he went on to create and perform there will always be a tender spot for the Album that introduced me to Jani and his Rock N Roll Soul. Rest in Peace Power and Perfection Jani. Keep things rockin until we get there. "Heaven isn't too far away". Amazing review I can't tell you how much it means to hear Jani talked about as time passes. He deserves to be recognized as much today as he did when he was "Flying High"
I'm glad you liked my video. I still have and use my yellow mega bass RCA waterproof cassette Walkman myself sometimes in the car when it's not to hot or cold lol. Indeed he was so underrated and songs like blind faith heaven April 2031 stronger now and countless others. I know why he said he hated cherry pie as uncle Tom's Cabin was supposed to be first single but record label wanted another hit so he wrote it in like 20 minutes and is so cheesy I like it but so many other better songs he wrote. He was mad because it was all people knew him for as time went on which is sad. Thanks for the support and kind words. I love 80s hard rock and metal and I speak with honestly and from the heart ❤️.
I remember that totally forgot to mention it. I think it Robbie Crane was on bass and forget whom else was in the group. It was sorta a supergroup. I should have bought the album when it came out back in high school or right after can't remember the exact year. Could have been during college years.
Jani lane was a fantastic singer and songwriter, the first 3 albums are simply masterpieces and Ultraphobic is a decent album, Belly to Belly is totally a pos album indeed, great video
Yes sir! Definitely Ultraphobic grew on me over the years and it's pretty solid at times too. Everything else meh I have the Jaime St. James warrant album some cool songs but just too cheesy haven't bought any with Robert Mason. Just not same.
I was just wondering why I never saw Jani perform Your the only Hell... live? I love you still have your cassettes of Cherry and Dog. So do I. They still sound great. I Wore DRFSR out. Agree with Dog. Love Indian Giver and Letter to a Friend but dude calling it Shit was a bit harsh. Now calling Bob shit would be spot on. Sorry for all the chatter I have to admit to being an over the top fan and I love talking Jani. Sadly his name doesn't come up often in conversation. My pleasure to subscribe.
I saw him 2 times including his last go around with Warrant around the under the Influence tour. I don't recall him playing that song. I am 20 plus years older at heart so I am not really a good example of living today don't stream collect old media including new albums on cassette and laserdiscs and sometimes VHS haha. Well that whole belly to belly album minus those 2 decent songs it's just too alt grungy 90s for me. Doesn't even sound close to Warrant really. The groove on Indian giver is amazing. I grew up with all 3 but mostly cherry pie as 90/91 was the years I got hooked in music and hard rock and metal at a very young age so that was just released and it was the first one I heard. I have the tour poster (album cover bascially in poster form) framed on my wall downstairs! Jani was such a great songwriter and musician that led a hard life once he moved to California. I wish I could have met him for sure. He is from just 2 hrs north of my boring small town lol.

Awesome as always dude. He made his mark on the rock scene.
Yeah he did even if it's mostly for cherry pie lol
@@retro_wanderluster9962 yeah the first album was good too.
SAINTS OF THE UNDERGROUND was a really good super group. Liked there album a lot.

@@retro_wanderluster9962 Yes, and the drummer was from RATT too. Really a good album imo.
@holspa metal oh yeah Bobby Blotzer another local boy haha from Pittsburgh
Nice story how Lane became WARRANT vocalist. Didnt know about that. And yes, i also think he was a underrated song writer.
Thanks he was sort of a local so I figured I'd give some backstory.
@@retro_wanderluster9962 very cool.

You should do a def Leppard ranking
Definitely thought about it need a few more albums the shitty ones lol but most of the last 6 or more can be considered that, haha
They got way too poppy hut a couple were ok
Will do one eventually
