Warrant- Jani Lane band. I don't get when I see the other guys carrying on and introducing their selves as so and so in Warrant. You mean you were in Jani Lane's back up band?
1:32 "(JANI) was a workhorse..IF I SAID LET'S TRY THIS HE'D COME UP WITH SOMETHIN BETTER". ..occurred to me as I'm writing this how UNFORTUNATE it is that i ADMIRE Hill for admitting so and giving Jani 'credit where credit due' as such an act should be innate and NOT the exception. Be very easy for Hill to have said many ideas were HIS ALONE as Janie is no longer here to offer counter recollection...but Hill doesn't ..he does the RIGHT thing and gives the late great songwriter his props. HOW UNFORTUNATE more in the entertainment biz didn't, don't, won't follow this Man's lead. Hats off Hill... 2 Devil Horns For You🤘🤘!! I'm not alone in acknowledging Jani's songwriting attributes, that third album Dog Eat Dog really exemplified the direction and improving quality of his writing. Sad Theresa, Hole in My Wall ... ForGetAboutIt!! F'N AMAZING songs. ...BUT ALAS Jani was pigeonholed into an inescapable genre prison to be put on display like a pierced butterfly within a glass trophy cocoon; watching as the wooed leather clad Fonzerali reflection metamorphed and gave way to Winkler obscurity till only CherryPieGuy stared back from that cracked Hollywood Motel bathroom mirror. Come full circle but not at the beginning. Seeing only Red within a Cabin located in the anthesis of Heaven, Down where no one wishes to go. .... ahem...okay tad hyperbolic lol. i remember i saw Jani few months before he died at the Rainbow on Sunset. We had just offered a pizza and it wasn't uncommon to see him or other musicians come n go from there (previous time i nearly bumped into Ace Frehley on way out lol).. i remember pointing Jani out to a friend and thought it be cool gettin a photo with him... but just then the BEST PIZZA IN LOS ANGELES arrived to our table ... (SERIOUSLY it is! Rainbow Bar N' Grill Pizza.. you're welcome!) ... andi thought I'd hit him up in the patio om the way out OR next time i saw him there as i was a frequent patron (RiP Mike). Needless to say that opportunity never arrived as Jani took his life shortly there after. What a talent he was. Thankfully he lives within his eternal music. Thanks J. .....your tunes cheered me up through some tough times... some of which exacerbated by the Warrant Nemesis AiC! Cuz when when you're Down in a Hole.. a lil BIG TALK is what ya need! 🤘👍!
Stephen Percy was a horrible singer . If it wasnt for producers he would sound horrible . Jani didn't need the layer or over producing . he naturally had a good voice and you could hear it when he did his acoustic shows .
I’d disagree with that. Yeah, technically Stephen wasn’t a clean singer, he had too much raspiness in his voice. Either you like that or you don’t. I get why some people don’t like it. I’ll say this though, I saw Ratt last year and Stephen sounded just as good(or bad depending on your taste) as he did in those old recordings. No doubt that Jani was the better singer though.
Jani Lane was warrant he wrote all of warrant s material he was the talent of the band and jani lane was a singer Stephen wasn't jani was a great song writer warrant sucks without him no jani lane no warrant period. Warrant s first 3 albums were good my favorite is dirty rotten filthy stinking rich
Noble Failures I love them all, and I love Jani’s solo stuff, like the Jabberwocky project and “Back Down to One”, plus all the demos he did like Serial Killer. I also love the record he did with the band Saints of The Underground featuring RATT’s Blobby Blotzer on drums and verbal harassment.
I am happy that Warrant continues to play all of Jani’s songs on tour and I’m happy they have such a great energetic and fun singer now. Life is better with Warrant, even if it’s without Jani.
Do you mean Ultraphobic and Belly to Belly, Vol. 1? I enjoy them as standalone experiences. They are dark and complex records that build on a past work, but beginning with Dog Eat Dog I started to pick up on the darker and interpersonal elements in Jani's lyrics which linger after a song is done. I like all of Warrant's stuff, but am most fond of Dog Eat Dog because you hear where the bands was coming from and where they were going sonically.
Underrated singer. Was Excellent. R I P Jani.
Jani lane was one of the best songwriters ever .and great vocalist
Jani has a great voice
Jani HAD a great voice.
Thank you! And thank you for providing the link to your website as well!!
Beau is a master of his craft. Just listen to 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' single, it's flawless, perfect. And it hits harder than any Slayer record.
Underated Band from the classic LA 80's Sunset Strip.!
