I’ve heard lots of covers of this song but nothing compares to Paul Barrere’s voice. How he draws it out like it’s gospel. The slide guitar at the beginning is incomparable! Damn am I glad you shared this. I keep coming back to it again and again
Remembering Paul now two years gone ... and... just in case some are thinkin' this was a Linda Ronstadt song ... "HEAR" IS a Great (IMHO)... the BEST laidback version ~ as it was first presented when originally released. written by Lowell Thomas George before "little Feat was realized. Love it! Sharing ~ this is how preserve the good music.
The song is almost fifty years lod and it still seems as good as it was the first time that I heard it!!! I knew a guy, who was a world superstar(the name is not important) and he says that Lowell was the most influential and AMAZING musician...and guy...that he ever worked with!!!
Can't remember the first time ...I heard this song........trouble is,,,,,,,I can't forget it!! .....and then there was the time I was one of those people they call "Driver" you know, 18 wheels and a lot of ROAD!! skybill-out
Jack Shaw this an amazing song. But I hate the way Little Feet’s plays it. Even if they wrote it. With all of the dramatic pauses and uninspired speaking the lyrics. And what not. Does anyone have their favorite version of this song? Provide a link
Little Feat did this song right for a old time trucker like myself. Both this version and the earlier Lowell George versions. Linda Ronstadt has a beautiful voice and sounds great, but to me it needs to have a bit of grit when performing this gritty song...
Over the Road, Long haul, "BIG GLASS," thanks "Mr. Schneider!!"out of Laurenberg the old Pilkington Plant!! All my Buds, D.J., "Dirty harry!!!!!!!!!" Dave, Bobbie, and on... Can't forget "James Meager!!!" my "training Engineer!!!" Ride on You all!!!!!!! Blue skies' skybill
Just heard this song for the first time recently, Tom Petty Live, haven’t heard the original yet, Petty’s version is absolutely brilliant (imo), this version not great.
There will never be too many times to listen to this classic. 👏
Paul berrere he joined in 1972 some three years after the band was created by Lowell George,.He passed away today one of my favorite bands
Music with a kind heart. I will never get enough.

Really takes me back.
I learned this song in Sedona while traveling through. Still one of my favorites.
One of my favorite from all time. Sung it where ever I played and the first song my son learned
The days of waiting for Columbus are long past and yet somehow it still shines despite the gratuitous lingering vocals of the singer. RIP LG
Just in case you thought this was a Linda Ronstadt song! Lowell Thomas George, gone but not ever forgotten!
not only did Lowell write it but Frank kicked him out of the Mothers for writing to good of a song.
It WAS a Linda Ronstadt song!
@@barbaralovenvirth8726 She covered it, it was a Little Feat song written by Lowell
@@davidpate3859 When Linda "covered" a song, it was hers.
@@barbaralovenvirth8726 I know what you mean, but it's a Lowell George song and that's all there is to it, exceptions to every rule rule

..... could the guy drag his 'meeeeee' out any longer? seriously
I'm thinking since it was Live and being taped, they slowed the song's tempo and were milking it every other way they could lol
