Agree on a comparison of the Fuel series M12 vs M18. I like the lighter weight of the M12 series, however, I use the multitool for a mix of light and heavy work. I am between both of them at the moment...
Iv used makita, mil, dewalt. And fein. Dewalt is nice. But the blade get a little more flimsy cuz of the quick lock mechanical feature. Milwaukee you got to use the lever, then unscrew it, then tighten it then put lever down. Dewalt you only have to squeeze replace and release. Real easy. Fein is like that too. And they vibrate the least out of all the brands. Other brands can't figure out how to reduce vibration in the tool. Anyways. Makita nice to with a quick lock kinda like fein tool. But it's too damn large. The body is like humongous. Milwaukee also got the double squeeze battery release. I'd much rather only need a thumb to press and release it but just my thoughts on it. Iv used my mil tools alot don't get me wrong. I watched hella reviews about the tools before I bought. But not until I owned them did I see I wasn't fond of the oscillater. It does come with an extra adapter for certain blades Wich is cool but also a curse cuz you have to keep and and store it.
I recently got one and used it on a job in my house. It was a very complicated job. It did it big time, I'm seriously impressed by the quality and versatility of the tool.
I have the older one, the 2626-20, which I have been using mostly to cut in Caddy Rings (MPLS). Over the past couple of days, I've cut in about 30 of them for a cabling project, and I have loved cutting them in with this tool. The space is already finished and carpeted (right, let's call in the network guy after we are finished the space. We seem to always be the last one they call!), so I also bring around my M18 briefcase vacuum so that I can clean up after each cut. What a great, time saving combo! I do need to remember to grab my CP3.0 batteries from my basement, I keep them for my router which I don't carry in my van, but would be nice to shave a little weight off of the oscillating tool.
@Sher John honestly it’s not that much difference it has more power and better light. But blade change is the same. But if my m18 wasn’t used up I woulda stuck with it.
I've been running the m18 since last week. Much better tool than before. The auto is great. It has more power than my corded Fein tool. Almost no vibration on your end but has power to spare.
Wow....it handled the steel alot easier than I expected. I am pretty sure the 11th setting is Auto. The quick change is alot easier than grabbing an allen key, but I have to give props to the yellow guys, their blade change system is pretty slick.
Auto likely saves the charge of the battery and helps you better control the re penetration of the material. T noticed on 10 when you were going fast it slipped off a few times.
I have the M18 Fuel and I like the auto feature especially for scraping its slows down while clearing debris saving battery and lowering vibration. I seem to use it the most often. Works well in the other modes as well. I really like the M18 Fuel.
Got mine yesterday and cut some holes in plaster and lath for electrical outlets (used a grout blade, followed up with wood blade). Super clean, effortless, and FAST cuts. And the auto speed feature seems pretty great!
Hi Vince, The new milwaukee oscillating tool looks very nice. The Auto feature is interesting. Like the large LED light in the front. I differently need to feel the low vibration. Now, the two things i wish milwaukee did change. 1. A flat bottom (not angle). Just like the (m12). I know you don't care for it but it's very handy to stand it up right on a lot projects 2. The quick blade should had a better design. Losing that bottom screw section will be very frustrating. They should had designed it like the DeWalt oscillating tool. I do like magnet feature but don't lose that screw. Just my feed back. Thanks for the video
Please do the compare, I’d love to see the M12/18 face off, I could go either way as I’m on both platforms, and the input would help me make the right call.
I just bought it online at the depot September 6, 2022 for 189.00 with a 5.0 battery. Yesterday Labor Day it listed at 229.00 no battery. I was happy I waited for a day to get what I wanted. I have all m18 fuel tools except for the full size saw-all which came with a fuel impact driver kit as a freebie
I just bought the M12 Fuel Multi and I have the non-Fuel M18 version I've been using for a few years. I also have a Rockwell Sonicrafter that I've been planning to give to my daughter. I love that Automatic feature and I may have to get one of these. Vince I love your videos and everything the VCG does every day - a tip for you - you should always move the blade back and forth when you're cutting through nails, it distributes the stress and heat across the teeth. It's a SAW, it helps when you saw with it. Same goes for the steel.
Vince. Really gonna need to see the m12 vs m18 fuel on this. Was about to pick up the m12 version but now I'm not sure. Side x side comparison with your professional opinion would be another great help. Thanks for all you do.
I like that auto mode it will save battery life and stress on the mechanical parts reducing heat and to the motor on auto mode gives u power demand when its needed and yea the tool will be sensing the load its getting to speed up or slow down the rpm prob detects a current change ramps the rpm
The auto would not only save battery but also perhaps prevent burning while the blade moves through a cut and is not under load. Less friction = less heat
I bought this one last Friday out of desperation after the foreman's old corded Makita lunched itself, we're doing a reclad on a 100 year old house with gnarly old nails. The blades can't keep up with the tool unless you buy the high end tungsten carbide blades. It is bad to the bone though. I really wanted the 12 volt version but they're very hard to get in New Zealand, and this one was the last one on the shelf. The newer release models also come with a Starlock adapter. Not sure if it does Starlock Max though. Also the tool has a shutoff feature if you try overload it or it gets into something weird and it grabs, which is handy but my apprentice shit his pants when it happened, he thought he just broke my tool. I've managed to do this on this reclad job cutting into native timber that's as hard as woodpecker lips
Hello Vince, my name is Alex Oliveira from Alex Home Improvement, I am Impressed w/ the performance of the new M-18 oscillation toll, that's for sure the next addition to my Milwaukee plataforma tools, thanks for the video ( I DO NOT FORGET TO SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON ALL THE TIME ) PEACE BROTHER. Alex Oliveira from Bridgewater, NJ.
That is sweet. Damn straight. I used my son's corded bostitch that didn't cut that fast and the wood blade wasn't as fast. It seems auto is charge saver.
I've had the Milwaukee M12 Oscillating Tool for a while now. As a licensed plumber (California) it comes in sooo handy, ESPECIALLY when I have to put my carpentry skills in action. I can really see how the M18 version takes it to another level. Thanks for the review!
After sitting through all those commercials and waiting to the end I was surprised there was no mention of a suggested retail price. If anyone is serious about the best oscillating tool, which I found a few months ago, it is the new Festool OSC 18. Why? Because of the dust control feature. They have done a great job of designing a shroud that hooks to to the tool’s collar and rotates. I’ve had a few fine multimaster corded tools but I was sick of all the dust and was glad Festool came out with a solution. These oscillating tools by their very nature generate a lot of cutting debris, which is so evident in this video. If Milwaukee wants to get serious when they come out with a new variation they have to address the possibility that the owner wants to have this dust collected before floating around in someone’s home or into their lungs. The Festool OSC 18 is a bit pricey - I bought the whole kit for around $800 that’s with the two Bluetooth batteries, charger, dust collector, plunge base for making plunge cuts, in a systainer case. I bought it because I need it to do a large job of removing a lot of grout and it’s great having no dust flying around and the depth stop prevents me from cutting too deep into the grout line. The plunge cutting base utilizes magnets to keep the blade straight to prevent vibration when making a plunge cut. Just as you mentioned the use of magnets in this Milwaukee tool, I think these magnets could be more utilized in innovative ways in power tools. In an unrelated question, I just bought the two new Milwaukee Fuel vacuums the upright (0940-20) and the Packout version. The upright I loved at first especially because of the powered brush head (it is strong!) but there’s some quirks about it- like if you have the nozzle on if you’re running it at high speed the filter light always comes on, on the slower setting it does not come on. I assume because of the restricted airflow of the nozzle it’s sensing that it’s a clogged filter. Also the filter and the cyclone housing I had to pull off a few times to clean after just a basic vacuuming job. I’d like to see a review of that one to see what you think.
It'll last too.but milwaukee came with 5.0 battery. Can't beat that. I really like the dewalt but the length In Wich the blade is allowed to sit from the quick lock link produces sloppy cuts sometimes.that or just the locking mechanism doesn't support blades as well. They don't come off...ever...but also because it's on a slight pitch from the locking mechanism you have to bend it it and be careful not to have your cut walk on you there just an odd flimsy ness to the dewalt. Over all I think I would still choose the dewalt because how fast you can change the blade compared to others. Once you learn it your fine but there always something about everything you use. My speed scroller broke on my milwaukee and dewalt is just controlled freely by the trigger you press lightly you get little power you rev it and go ham and it rally's up in power and speed
When 10 is not fast enough and you need a little extra, this one goes to 11! lol. That’s just awesome. I almost want to buy it just for that. If only it came in green...
Dewalts blade change is nice, but I'll say no thanks on the trigger. I accidentally turned on that DeWalt so many times just picking it up or changing cut orientation, almost nicking my hand or material. I will say the only con with dewalts blade change is that it's stiff as hell until it gets broken in. My dad, who is the DeWalt guy, bought it, and at 60 years old with possible beginning stages of arthritis, has a hell of a time working that lever. I ended up going with the m12. Same opm's as the m18 and the blade change is just about as fast as any competitor. Works for me.
i will say. the dewalt oscillating saw doesnt have the magnets. but it does have a better system for installing and removal of the tools. it has a clamp area you just press to add or remove each tool. i had one and was very fast to change out. but i plan on getting the milwaukee one
I have a gen 3 multi tool, but it is one of my favorite tools. You dont realize how often it comes in handy unless you have one. Buuut and its a big ol BUT, this new one looks pretty darn sweet.
@VCGConstruction .... The Ridgid Jobmax Octane has not just a few magnets but the whole ring is magnetic... I love my RIDGID but just got this killer deal... I got the Milwaukee pack out slim compact organizer the M18 fuel quarter impact driver with pack out combo the pack out 15-in tote and that all came in at a total of $208 plus tax.... Thank you for what you do....
Holy smokes. !!! That thing is awesome I was on the fence about buying one but I am completely all in now the wife is going to go crazy when I bring one of these home
Great video as usual! I really like the magnetic and as well. The skil 12 V oscillating tool also has a magnetic end. Would be great to see a versus video between the 12 V Milwaukee and the 12 V skil.
Great tool. I think the Auto mode would almost be effective as a variable speed button/trigger. Prefer this setup over manual trigger to vary the speed (much less effort and finger fatigue).
We just got ours a few weeks ago. Came from a Dewalt corded version. You gotta give it to Dewalt when comes to oscillating tools, the trigger, toolless quick-change system is great! But this new M18 monster! This thing cuts through stuff like butter! Personally, I like the 'A' mode. We mainly use it for low voltage wiring stuff, paired with a Qbit blade to cut out 1 gang boxes. 'A' mode lets you start out slow and precise and then ramps up when needed. Great video as always, keep up the great work!
I have the regular m18 and I used it often and it does great but this thing is such a beauty I’m crying. I have a m18 fuel hackzall that makes the job easier but sometimes I need to cut a 2x4 on a shower that’s on the floor and this would safe me that hassle of burning my blades easily.. 😭
Ridgid job max multi tool has the magnetically locking device. I like theirs better because it does not havd a separate bolt. However, the ridgid is no comparison in performance.
Been looking to replace my rigid multi tool. The locking bolt system is a pain in the ass. I’ve had that on other multi tools. It needs a real quick release system like rein and rigid have.
I think the auto feature is great just for saving juice! I'll have to get one myself and put it to work to see if the auto setting has any advantages. It does seem that it might help decrease blade skipping when making precise plunge cuts into hard surfaces. Pork Chop Sammiches.
It does. I was cutting thick aluminum channel. And everytime I applied pressure it will increase and really start cutting. And battery was still fully charged after 5 cuts.
Hey Vince. After one of your older videos about the Skil 12v Multi-tool, I gotta say, that tool has been one of my faves. I picked up the M12 FUEL Multi-tool over the holidays and even though they both offer a keyless change, I prefer the Skil.
After watching this video, I will be upgrading my current M12 Oscillating to a M18 Oscillating Multi Tool. Smash that "Like" button above. Thank you sir for the reviews.
Id have to admit if they’d offer more kits with the packouts, Id upgrade/ expand my tools more frequently. I know this because Ive purchased three drill/impact driver/packout kits just for the packout case and spare batteries. The drill & impact drivers are on the shelf still in bags for backup’s. I procrastinate every time I buy a bare tool because I know Ill have to find a case to stow the tool and I hate bags and blow molded cases take up to much room. The improvement it needs, as you said... offered with pack out case kit!
Hey Vince do you think you could do a video on your favorite work gloves. Be greatly appreciated , I’ve seen you wear mechanix gloves just wondering your take on your favorite. Love your videos brotha
Hey Hunter, just a heads up. The mechanix gloves are great while they last, but I've had 3 different sets in the last yr & a half (all $30+) & none have lasted over 6 mos. + They only have a 90 day warranty (which is usually right when they start splitting on you). I do construction & remodels FT, so I might be kinda hard on em, but all 3 pair were diff. styles, yet fell apart the same way, in about the same amount of time, so personally, I wouldn't recommend. I agree a work gloves vid would be great.✌
milwaukee was in beast mode 💪 one thing i would of liked to have seen in the review was the noise level coming from the tool compared to the gen 1 or the M12 model. We all know these tools are super noisy. The 5.0 or 4.0 amp would be the perfect size battery for this tool
Yes please do a 12 vs 18 i would like to know before i buy one
Milwaukee same company as dirt devil and hart from walmart. TTI industries

Perfect, I'm going to use this tool to line up my beard while cutting trim
This guy is definitely sponsored by Milwaukee.
I got one today and its amazing how clean it cuts with no vibration in the hand
I know my skil 12v oscillating tool has a magnet to hold the blades. The Kobalt and the Hitachi I believe do as well, but don't quote me on that.
Auto is amazing !! I do flooring and cutting door jams or metal cutting with auto setting is unbeatable
I vote for you guys to do a side by side comparison with m12 and m18

@@firstlast5139 I think Milwaukee themselves know there was no point of a fuel version. Took them 9 years to say fine we’ll do it.
Also @VCGconstructon we need a shoot out please
Great video as usual! I really like the magnetic and as well. The skil 12 V oscillating tool also has a magnetic end. Would be great to see a versus video between the 12 V Milwaukee and the 12 V skil.
Just finished the video and was not expecting it to cut through .5 in steel, I'm putting it on the buy list. Thanks VCG!!
At 4:15 let me guess, Bosch and DeWalt
just bought one. its a beast
I'm surprised by its power and low vibration, it would be nice to see a teardown of this tool 🤔
Get one to AvE!
Thank you for the detailed video on the new multi-tool. I hope to talk to Santa to bring me one.
the next design,, make it so the tool can stand up like dewalt . Add belt clips as well.
Well there ya go....I was going to buy the M12 but after seeing this....me gots to get the new M18!
Great vid Vince...THANKS!!
Love it, this is my next tool
YESSSS a comparison between M12 fuel and M18 fuel oscillating tools!!
I JUST ORDERED THAT BEAST! THANKS FOR THE REVIEW!!!
Auto is great option to have 👍👍
I am from Australia and we love Milwaukee. Totally buying this beast tommorrow. Thanks for the review mate
Yes, compare the 12/18 fuels. Do a full shootout with them!
Beautiful tool 🎉 i
i think the auto seems to work pretty well, good way to save battery charge.
Got to have one . Like the auto
Oh, the little magnets at the tool interface is a nice idea
I agree a work gloves vid would be great.✌
Heat kills these blades. Slow the speed down on steel ,and keep using the oil. Well done.
milwaukee was in beast mode 💪 one thing i would of liked to have seen in the review was the noise level coming from the tool compared to the gen 1 or the M12 model. We all know these tools are super noisy. The 5.0 or 4.0 amp would be the perfect size battery for this tool
Just bought one yesterday
