You have lifetime access to the course, it's self paced, and it's a great resource that really is a mini cooking school dedicated to the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker & Air Crisping appliances. People who have enrolled in the course already are telling me over and over that it's the best money they have spent since getting the Ninja Foodi. Skip the cookbooks and learn to create your own masterpieces with detailed instructions that you will only find in the Ninja Foodi ~ Basics & Beyond online course.

      @@TheSaltedPepper - such a great review from you! I'm thinking that using the older internal pot, even if it's slightly heavier, shouldn't be much of a problem, since it would be almost as if you added weight by putting more food in a lighter pot.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  2 года назад +1

      @@manofsan Thank you! People are saying it works fine! In fact, someone asked Ninja for a second pot for their OL701 and they shipped the same pot that is used in older models. I’ve also weighed other pots I have and I think they do vary slightly.

      @@TheSaltedPepper - thanks for the tip! I appreciate your warning about the noise on the OL-701, since noise is important to me. Can you please tell me how the noise from that other OL-601 model compares? Is OL-601 just as noisy? They both look to be very similar in design, but I wanted to ask you. I own one of the older Foodi models, OL-310 which has the separate lids, and it seems reasonably quiet.

    Great presentation Louise. I was a 302 owner. I upgraded to the OL701 (based in part on your review). The pros speak for themselves, with you being the main spokesperson for same, so I'll comment on the minimal cons I've come across. I'm a bit of a clean freak so I've discovered some cons based on that. The internal pressure ring is a different material then in past versions and seems to need cleaning more frequently. Removal and reinsertion is a bit trickier as the open-lid angle makes it a somewhat more difficult operation. But the real headache I ran into was the little anti-clog cap. Man, was that difficult to remove. I have an average hand size but nevertheless it was very difficult to grasp and remove.
    The pressure release valve arrows are a bit misleading as the seal setting is when the valve is in the little notch and not all the way to the end of the arrow.
    The new probe is a very cool feature but the manual seems to imply that is can't be placed in water!? Huh? I must be misunderstanding the manual as it is used under high pressure, with superheated steam, so how can it NOT be in contact with water. And how would you clean it?
    Nevertheless, I pressure cooked a piece of boneless skinless chicken breast using the probe with CHICKEN preset with quick release setting and the finished product was excellent, perfectly cooked and ready for me to make chicken salad sandwiches. This machine is going to be a blast!

      @@TheSaltedPepper you know i've been looking into different devices now and... in anticipation to black Friday's discounts next month

    What an amazing and thorough review!!! I thank you SO much. I have the 8 Qt 11 in 1 Foodi and am absolutely satisfied with everything about it. The probe and auto release on newest model sounds nice, but after seeing everything you have showed - I'm not upgrading. 🙂
    1. I love the ease of cleaning pressure cook lid in dishwasher. As well as attaching seal, etc. while lid is off.
    2. The noise of newest model does not seem pleasant.
    3. Most everything can still be done in older model, that newest model does.
    4. You reminded me I have a steam (water) catching drawer, that I've never checked!! 😳🥴😂

    I ordered the 601 version and less than a week after I ordered it, they introduced the 701 version. I was so irritated with Ninja because I would have gotten the upgraded model if I had known it was coming out. But I really do like the version that I have. The sous vide works really well, as does the slow cook setting in addition to all of the other features, and I love having only 1 lid.

Time to exchange for the new one. I also have an Instant Pot Max which was a major disappointment that will probably be sold when this 0L701Ninja comes to replace it. Great review, Louise! I watched you do the live full chicken one and I guess that was the 601. I was like, "I don't need to upgrade". However, after you showed the 701 with the probe and then showed the delayed release (which I always use Alexa to help with that and listening very carefully for the beep), I'm like, "hubby, I know a great Xmas gift". With that delayed release or automatic release functions, I could see me cooking the food ahead of time and doing errands. Just let it do the releasing and keep warm and it's ready when we are ready to eat. Really love that!!! Thanks again!! Hope the house hunting is going well.

    Thank you for this video. Well done! One of my concerns with the one lid is how dirty, greasy the air crisp lid gets on the older model makes me think that the grease, mess will "drip" into your food when pressure cooking/steaming. Does that make sense? I know when I clean my air crisp lid on my older model I use the steam function and the amount of grime that drips is what makes me think that would happen when using the newer model and on lid. Of course, it does appear that with the new model it would be a lot easier to clean and you won't have that grime build up.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  2 года назад +3

      There aren't as many places for the grease to "hide" and the lid stays pretty clean, but I've only used it a handful of times.

    I'm late to this party, but this is great information! I've had an Instant Pot since 2016 and also a separate air fryer and for a while, the air fryer lid for the older instant pot. Several weeks ago I somewhat impulse purchased Instant Pot's new Ultimate Pro Crisp One lid - although IP's version has a pressure cooker insert that you remove to air fry. At any rate, I have been watching many of your videos as I transition to using multiple functions to cook multiple foods together ... and started learning differences with the Ninja line. I am a 1 human household and work from a home office (for 37 years :) ... not just COVID). I used your Hasselback potato recipe last night and on today's menu is Ribs with Raspberry glaze except I made it cherry because that's what I had. Loving videos and blog!!

    Louise, you do such a great job explaining all these machines for us. Thank you for that! When I heard Ninja was coming out with new models I was interested, but now that I see them I'm happy to stick with my current foodi. I don't really consider this an "upgrade" at all. For me, the cool features (probe, hands free release) aren't worth putting up with the odd noise it makes, and the sheer size of the machine, not to mention the outrageous cost of the new model.

    • @TheSaltedPepper

    I got the Ninja Foodi 10 in 1 last year, and I love it, use it almost every day. But I will give one warning. For whatever reason, they built that particular version so that it was not as deep as other 6.5 qt versions, so many accessories for other versions won’t fit the 10 in 1. And because they came out almost immediately with the 11 in 1, they didn’t bother to MAKE accessories for the 10 in 1. So I don’t like the fact that they keep coming out with new versions, especially when the inner parts may not work from one unit to the next. You may, like I did, find you have a version that has very limited support. These new versions have a lot of great improvements, though, especially the “easier to clean” part and the hands free pressure release.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  2 года назад

      That's interesting. I wasn't aware that they ever made a 10 in 1, do you mind telling me the model number so I can look into that. I have always thought all of the 6.5qts were the same size.

    • @lkayh

      @@TheSaltedPepper It’s OS301. You can still get them on Amazon, but not direct from Ninja (if you search, a thumbnail comes up but then if you click, you get an error page). When I first got it, I went looking for accessories, and there were none on the Ninja Kitchen site so I called. I was told anything that fits the OP301 would fit mine, but when I needed a new grill rack, I ordered one for the OP 301 and the lid wouldn’t close. I called again and they told me that what the rep had said before was not true, and then sent me (I think) a rack for the 5 qt (much smaller diameter but it fits in the pot). I just went looking to see if I could get a new inner pot for the OS301, as after almost daily use for a year the one I have is getting scratched up, but no dice. Check the Ninja Kitchen site and you’ll see that if you look for accessories for the OS301, you also get an error page. It’s like they want to pretend that model never existed. LOL.

      @@TheSaltedPepper I am seriously considering springing for the XL with thermometer, but it really is pretty huge. I am only cooking for 1 (2 at most) so I don’t need that big an appliance. But it still beats heating up your whole kitchen with the regular oven and I really like the new features and the ability to clean the lid. Anyway, I’m going to wait and see if they come out with a line of accessories for that version-apparently if they don’t it’s a red flag that the model won’t be supported for long. 🥴
