I love your videos. This is the one place in which I feel products are NOT being showcased for the sole purpose of creating self-purposed sales so THANK YOU for all you two do. That said .... the basket is also good for steaming veggies, "boiling eggs", PCing potatoes, etc. I have the complete OL series; ie 6.5qt OL501; 8qt OL601; and 8qt OL701. The 701 auto-vent settings along with the built-in temp probe puts the 701 top-of-the-line. The BI internal temp probe can be used in the following settings: Sear/Saute, AirFry (AirCrisp), Broil, Bake/Roast, SteamCrisp, and Pressure Cook. As you guys know, with most Ninja devices that come with the BI internal temp probe, the temp probes are inaccurately calibrated and the Chicken Preset is set too high (170F). I find they devices run about 10-15 degrees off. What I do (when not choosing a Preset) is use Manual and set for 10-15 degrees lower than what temp I am wanting to reach. At about 10 degrees before unit is set to shut off, I do a temp check with an external temp probe. I do feel the BI internal temp probes, however, do come in handy as they allow one to not have to hover over the device as much.

Just got one of these for Christmas from my sister, every year she tries to give me the latest version since I’m always cooking for our small church family. I was so grateful for your post, it helped me to understand how to use this smart lid pot, as I learn better with visual representation. I think I’m going to try your fajita bowl recipe next, I was hesitant about the steak, however after you kept cutting it and I saw the full outcome of it, I was impressed. I hate a dry steak!!! I’m now subscribed to your page, so I’m looking forward to learning new recipes for to serve at my church and for the homeless community here in my home town.

I got the one with the two lids several years ago. I really do love it. But there is a learning curve to get it to do what you want. Not all the videos on youtube are as great as they appear. One of the first things i tried was chicken wings. They came out good, but the cleanup was a pain. I used the pressure-cooking feature. Then the crisper feature. The basket was covered in meat and grease. I used cooking spray but still the wings stuck. I tried soaking then boiling it and ended up using a green pad to scrub off the mess. Afterwards everything would stick. So, one day I found how to make country fried steak. All you use is the inside pot. I used oil and some cooking spray, but it stuck again, and I tried to boil it out and soaking, but it did not work. Ended up scrubbing it out with a green scratch pad. And ruined the pot. So, I had to replace it and the basket. U.S. $50. Now when I make chicken wings, I pressure cook them for 10 to 15 minutes. And while they are cooking, I set my stove to 425 and let it heat up. Then pour the wings into a bowl and put some olive oil on them along with some pepper and salt. Take a piece of aluminum foil and cover a baking pan and spray with Pam. Then pour the wings on to the pan, cook uncovered and put in the oven for 20 -30 minutes. Cleaning the basket and pan are easy to do. One thing it works really well at doing, is thawing stuff out. I have tried steaks every way I can think of, so far for 1/2 thick or less works best on the pressure-cooking setting. Anything larger than that I pressure cook for 8 to 10 minutes. IF you pressure cook it to long it will taste like a roast. Afterwards drain the pot and air crisp at 350 degrees. I cook it for 5 to 8 minutes. From there on I check every 3 to 5 minutes to get it where I want it to be. The best way to cook steaks is on a grill, an open flame. The one pot spaghetti is not bad but not great. The problem is finding a sauce that you like. It is somewhat fast, and you only have the one pot to clean up. All in all, it is OK. I use the foodi for many things. And there are lots of recipes you can try, here on youtube. You were saying the first time you released the vent it scared you. Don't feel bad, did the same thing to me. The wife got a puppy, small dog. I did not want anything to do with her. So, one night I was cooking, and she creeped into the kitchen and was watched me. I hit the vent lever and it scared her, she went to shaking. And lost all her bladder control. Scared the piss out of her. So, we call her puddles. After that I started to bond with her and now, she is like our own child.

The item lasts up to 18 months and right around the time the warranty expires, so does the "smart lid." Not an inexpensive item and it should have a 5-year + lifespan. Loved it and my family used it frequently but now Ninja is saying too bad and to purchase a new one. At nearly $400CAD, that's a high expectation of a customer to replace this item every 18 months.

To help with that steak temperature, and still get the remaining ingredients fully cooked, lower your temperature a bit. everything should cook the same with the time and the meat should come out med-med/rare, rather than med-med/well
