Usually I find it stupid in anime to punch someone for minor reasons like not answering them or to avoid being seen with vulnerability (tears, blushing etc.). But Jun is an exception because he deserved both punches for avoiding Tomo for a WHOLE YEAR

If people are punching each other, it is not a healthy relationship in the first place. Laws of physics apply to all of us therefore it still hurts regardless of gender.

When i changed from secondary to high school i didn’t talk to my best friend for a year also, i don’t even know why (its not like this situation), we were just talking to different people and then suddenly the next term we started talking again and we still good friends. Things just happen in life.
Different classrooms, different times, and people who are closely connected relatable to your hobbies. Anything can stop people from reconnecting their relationships. In Tomo’s case, it was rumors that split them apart.

However, the moment he accepted her BFF's proposal, she began to develop romantic feelings for him, which I believe was portrayed in the way the scene changed when he accepted as well as her reaction.

Yeah, our guy basically admitted that he cared more about what other people thought of them while they were hanging out together over their own relationship, effectively “ending” their friendship for a whole year. Thankfully because of how their friendship is built they seemingly managed to patch things up after a few one-sided blows but had either of their personalities been different then there’s a chance that Jun would’ve unintentionally ended their friendship with no sign of reconciliation a year ago from this moment in the video.

@@adarkwind4712 he actively avoided her, she didn’t get the chance to talk to him because he kept intentionally ignoring her and keeping his distance. He kept at it and even tried to get a girlfriend just so that he could have an excuse to stop avoiding Tomo; he basically tried to find a solution on his own (like an idiot) to a problem that he himself was making a bigger deal about it than it actually was and also that “problem” was something that Tomo didn’t even care about in the first place, something he would’ve found out had he just stopped and talked things over with her. So yeah he definitely deserved those punches.
A lot of it was Jun's fault. He felt ubber awkward because he didn't see Tomo as a girl. At this point, Tomo also, didn't see Jun as anything but a close friend. She had every right to be upset. Now the really funny, heartwarming part is that Tomo starts developing feelings towards Jun because he took the initiative to make things right again. So now, she sees him in a very different light. Now of course, she gets spooked about having a crush on Jun and decides to take him up on his offer on going back to being best friends. And who cares who everyone else thinks, right?

I did the same to a girl. She really liked me but I stopped talking to her because I know it would advance more forward and i have to build a future for myself first. She asked me why I didn't talk,ended up resenting me and became sour and she changed schools after that year. Yeah happens a lot, especially if you were in one of those schools with lots of children. Have like Year 9 A, B, C, D and so on. Had close friends but was moved to another class due to shortage and never spoke to my childhood friends for like almost 2 years, then we got put into the same class again and we were all surprised how different we were. Good times, for the first part you'd try to be with them at recess or lunch but eventually you'll make new friends or have a girlfriend and she's with another friend group. If its meant to be, its meant to be.
