@Craiberk no This was a primaris, not a gray knight. And the Inquisition only does that on very rare occasions with gray knights. Most of the time the human population at the time of the invasion has died of old age and generations have passed and passed before Inquisition investigations can even begin. The memories of the wars passing into legends proved only by crumbling ruins and forgotten bones.
@Craiberk those are Commissars, not Inquisitors. Inquisitors are very rare on the galactic scale, only being present along side special crusading forces as an attachment and shadow command structure. If ever single squad of guardsmen had an attached inquisitor, the entire imperium would have been exicuted by exterminatus ages ago. Even Commissars are not meant to root out corruption, but rather are ment to prevent men from fleeing, by shooting cowards.
The guardsmen would probably be executed if he lived through his wounds under suspicion that he has been tainted by chaos. And neither he nor you would want to spread that taint would you?
@Craiberk That would mean that every single guardsman that has fought against chaos marines or even just cultists would be executed just in case, for example all the population of cadia would have been executed docens of times through history. In reality that only happens in extreme occasions when the taint is evident or, when they see grey knights because they are supposed to be a secret (something really stupid in my opinion, i mean, the majority of citizens couldnt even tell the difference between a grey knight and a normal astartes, just tell them they are another chapter and move on).
I remember the day in a apoc game where a squad of guardsmen was annihilated except 1, he said fuck it and took a shot at reaver titan.... it went critical and nuked a chunk of the board... The weak sack of flesh went out in a blaze of glory.
Imperial guardsman Relax comrade, for when the Imperial Guard come ride in with a Baneblade, thou shall laugh at the enemy with all the fury and anger the Emperor himself has to offer. (Thank you for the likes, the Emperor protects)
We are just guardsmen though we are literally killed by our officers to increase morale and we fight with over glorified flashlights. 100 of us is not worth a single space marine we are mere meat shields do not pity us
3:41 I realized why this scene is so powerful. The Primaris knew each Guardsmen personally... He knew their jobs, their age, their stories. He knew the Factory Worker, he knew the Farmer, the Storekeeper, the Father, the Brother and the Son... He had spent time talking to them, knowing them... ...And he only arrived in time to save just one of them from the Chaos Marine. This actually shows that his 'Breaking speech' to the Chaos Marine was him making a Mockery of the Chaos Marine, just like the Marine had made a Mockery of the Guardsmen. It's also why he snappishly asked "What's your Excuse, _Monster?"_ at the end. He notably spits out the Word "Monster" like it was the most foulest of Poisons. With the added context, it basically shows he is no longer going to drag out shaming the one that killed _his_ Guardsmen. I mean, the Primaris could have just _Shot_ the Chaos Marine from behind, but because he was likely downright enraged by what he had seen him do to _His_ Guardsmen, the Primaris decided to Torture the Chaos Marine by beating him to within an Inch of his life before finishing him off.
Quite possible. Ultramarines mingle with the general population, as directed by Guilliman himself who didn't want them to lose their humanity. They keep in touch with their families in Macragge and visit them when they return to the fortress-monastery between deployments. They treat their unaugmented allies as much as equals as an Astartes is capable of. They're not as sentimental as the Salamanders, but they have a lot of empathy for the common man.
Such a grand speech is added considerable weight when you realize it is coming from a Primaris Marine. Who would not even be standing there had the "pitiable" Guardsman not held that line for 10,000 years as he slept.
Do not pity the guardsman, for he knows his way and will eventually reach his emperor. Rather pity the miserable chaos spawn, for they go not unto their fathers but to the gullet of those same ruinous powers they worship in life. Pity not the guardsman, for we will find our way to our fathers on our own. You however monster, I can feel nothing but pity for. When I die I go the my emperors side and await the day I may beof use once more. You meanwhile, all you have to look forward to is the same damnation which you have spawned and for that and that alone creature of chaos, I pity you.
Scrambled Egg Special clearly hasn't experienced enough ecclesiarchy sermons to prevent uttering such heretical words. Hate the xenos, and suffer not a mutant to live!
Solus Aldrain how is that heretical as what he loves is mankind and the Xenos what nothing more then to wipe us out but he will not stand and let that happen

I wrote the original text for this on /tg/ back in 2010, maybe 2011. Never thought people with 500x my talent would make an animation for it. These guys should have 10,000,000 views.
As a fellow /tg/ guy who has written things that went a lot further than he thought they would (google Drake McDougal) my hat's off to you sir. I wish I had written this. Absolutely captures the essence of "humanity fuck yeah," the real essence of it, sans the cringe, with all the heart. Godspeed sir.
Amazing work /tg/ bro. Your text is the one I always fall back on when describing IG (my favourite faction) it just captures the essence of normal humans fighting till the bitter end against unimaginable horror.
I like the idea that a space marine is saying this instead of a guardsman because if a guardsman said it would sound more arrogant than heroic. Also it shows that some space marines, the powerful super soldiers , acknowledge the importance and the sacrifice of the imperial guards who are far "inferior" to them.
Qball you say inferior I say superior because possibly with the exception of the salamanders the space marines are stripped of everything that makes them human i.e. Their humanity and emotions, a space marine marches into battle never once contemplating the idea that he and his battle brothers might lose while a guardsmen does and he knows that if he does then his loved ones will suffer and that thought makes him all the more determined to win, as a famous English bard once said "courage is not the absence of fear but merely acting inspite of it"
@@dionwoollaston5717 I don't actually consider the guardsman inferior which is why I included quotations around the word. I consider the guardsman to be far superior to the space marines in terms of heart and humanity. I was just using the word to say why I consider it better for a space marine to be saying it. To be honest I completely agreed with everything your saying including the exception about the salamanders. Great comment by the way. I also appreciate your maturity since many people could have responded in a harsher way.
Qball your welcome people seem to forget or largely overlook the imperial guard in favor of the marines, even though the guardsmen contribute just as much if not more to the safe guarding of humanity, because while the marines do retake planets from their enemies it's the guardsmen and PDF who ensure that they have a planet and a foothold to take back, for example it's not a planet full of space marines sitting at the entrance to the eye of terror it's the guardsmen who are preventing the heretics from overrunning the imperium
@@dionwoollaston5717 Well said and too true. This is why I mostly favor chapters like the lamenters of the salamanders that give a damn about the people they are protecting. This is also why Lorgar Grimnar the Old Wolf is such a good guy. He openly defends the weak a rarity for space wolves. Also the planet fell before the guard.
Qball that it did but it didn't fall to mere chaos marines and guardsmen, no it took a Death Star sized space station to finally accomplish what had taken ten thousand years to do
For ten thousand years your black crusades have been pushed back, beaten down by, made a mockery of by weak sacks of flesh with cheap weapons and disposable equipment, too good.

A man, staring down a son of the god emperor of man that is powered by chaos. Wearing armour comparable to sheet steel and weilding a gun that could only compare to a lazer pointer against such a foe, and yet not only does he dare stand, but to yell against his foe who is like a god compared to him, and damn was he right, for the day he died, the guardsmen numbers swelled until no foe could ever truly reach the emperor of man EVER AGAIN
Dying Guardsman: “Thank The Emperor, A Space Marine is here to purge this chaos filth.” Space Marine: *Give a long and dramatic backhand compliment about the guardsman.* Dying Guardsman: “I think I’d rather be dead”
Erm, he was lecturing the Chaos Marine as he beat the shit out of him. As soon as he made his presence known, the Alpha legionary ignored the Guardsman and sprinted toward a Primaris Lieutenant, and promptly got battered. It was not a backhanded compliment. He was mocking the Chaos fool with his own words, by pointing out that the "weak sack of flesh with useless equipment" had held off the horror for 10,000 years. I would be chuffed to hear a literal Angel singing my praises as he beat the Monster that was going to kill me to death, while casually berating him as he does so.
@@notyetdeleted6319 Erm, he was literally fighting a Chaos Marine. If he stops to administer aid (he wouldn't, he isn't an Apothecary, and all his healing abilities are internal anyway), the Chaos Marine kills them both. A simple man with generic equipment, fighting monsters, augmented soldiers, old and new gods, ancient soulless races, witches and sorcerers, yet their will has never faltered.
Despite the fact, most factions have advanced technology, better armor, and equipment, and while after the dark age of technology ended, and humanity ended up with Lasguns, but didn't use any other advanced weaponry, they still have the spirit and faith to continue pushing, regardless what enemy's awaits them. Two things I love about this SFM 1. Tells us to respect the Imperial Guardsmen and the Astra Militarium 2. I like the way the Chaos Space Marine didn’t notice the bolt pistol he picked up didn’t even have a magazine.
Maybe the bolter already has a round in its chamber ready to fire and that's why at the end there's only one shot normally a space marine would atleast shoot 5 or 6 rounds into that sucker since most magazine fed guns have can have a bullet in its chamber without the magazine loaded in Yes I'm late
Do you think the chaos space marine was questioning himself and his choices before he got his head shot so it didn't resemble a head because bolters are like mini RPG's?

"They have the audacity not to lay down and die." Humanity irl and 40k and anything else in one line. In fact most of what the Primaris Marine says is true about the grunts of Science fiction. But the warhammer guardsmen are the unnamed soldiers who hold the line against all evils, weather it be the alien, the mutant, or the traitor. The emperor protects!
Ian Goff they are scared shitless of the horrors charging their lines, but they are even more scared of what will happen to their loved ones should they flee. Many of the guardsmen aren't being sent to some emperor forsaken hell hole, many such as the cadians are fighting on the very planet of their birth
@@dionwoollaston5717 The cadians are not fighting on their own birth world. One it's gone but 2 they are plenty of the deployed elsewhere before then and now you can't no longer deployed them to Cadia.

I like to think that the emperor sheds a tear for the guardsmen when thay die I also like to think that he fights to protect the souls of the guard and the rest of the people of his imperium in the warp from the 4 glorified high school bully’s in there
@@steveisthecommissar4013 It is part of kreigan belief, that when we die, we join the Empeor and wait for his return, and for those select few, join at the fort that protects all the souls of those that fell in the empeors name, from the foul attempts of chaos to taint the new home of our brothers and sisters.
All this silly comments about what guardsman could do in response to CSM speech are simply pointless. It's not about a contemporary internet user with a whole library of memes and zany jokes. It's about a real and mature man who stands for something and who has done his best he coud, and he's now laying on the ground wounded and paralyzed by the pain. He doesn't have to say or do antything right now. He did his job. His deeds defend him. His Courage and Defiance.
And THIS is why I think Guardsmen are the most balls-to-the-wall badass soldiers in the Imperium. BECAUSE they're weak. BECAUSE they're poorly equipped and scared shitless. BECAUSE they are fighting enemies who should by all rights wash over them like the sea over a sandcastle. "And he has held the line for ten thousand years!"
I just LOVE that part at the end. The moment you see the face of that Chaos Marine as he's about to die, he just looks genuinely broken. Like the realization seeped in after the Ultramarine said his piece and he realized that, for all his talk, the Guardsmen he mocked and belittled were stronger than he would ever be.
the guardsman: "thanks for the help, but could you spare the speech and just finish the freak off??...i've been kept company by corpses for three days and i've got a case of trenchfoot that would make nurgle squirm.."

That is a boast few can say with honesty. To have held the line until the very ground below your feet burned away. To have held the ground till there was no ground to hold. God I love the Guard.
I can imagine the Guardsman’s thoughts when the Ultramarine was saving him and complimenting him. “Oh, you...” “You have IMPECCABLE timing!” “Wow. One of Roboute’s chosen!”
It is funny, that the imperial guard has enough firepower to conquour a sector while a chapter of space Marines have enough to take a subsector. And that ballasiks and baneblades are never too far from a squad of guardmens. Killing guardmens is like kicking a puppy, when its owner finds out there will be hell to pay
@@jasonburke1671 the thing is that doesn't happen as often as guardsmen conquering sectors. And if said armies had an all out war. I'm 90% sure the guard would wipe the floor with the space marines. @@maverick5640 that could also be because the Codex Astartes absolutly decimated their fighting capability. Imagine for a minute you took an army of Guardsman against pre-heresy Astartes legions. If this is how an Ultramarine of the Primaris breed act and see humanity, and if the Blue Blunders are supposed to be the poster boys, then I feel it would be good for them to exemplify that deep level of humanity more.
That's actually pretty wrong. The Ultramarines are very much like the Salamanders and Space Wolves when it comes to civilians. They often deploy to rescue people from Xenos or Traitors, and are shown to do quite a bit to save them. (For example, the Ultramarines' evacuation of the civilians on Damnos during the Fall of Damnos, with even a Venerable Dreadnought giving his life so that the Civilians could take off and get to the Ultramarines fleet in orbit. It was noted that the Ultramarines later resettled those civilians within Ultramar.) The Ultramarines do genuinely give a damn about the regular folk. They're the kind who will not only save your life, but will make sure you have a place to live afterwards. They're not Black Templars or Marines Malevolent.
one sub one plink They do. It's just that many people just hate them for some reason, therefore combine them with attributes that don't fit them at all. The flesh tearers are kind of sm you were talking about.

Space marines typiclly are Submissive order followers. Chaos are typically primal instincts and urges. But in both there are intelligents of all levels.
This was amazing. I especially like how the Ultramarine, someone who you'd expect to consider himself above the Guardsmen, praises them and their virtue while he beats the Chaos Marine to death. It seems the Ultramarine, unlike the Black Legionnaire, remembered that he too was once a mortal human. It's especially poetic how one of the guardsman is shown to still be alive when the Ultramarine states that they refuse to lay down and die, and how the video focuses on the dead guardsmen when the Ultramarine mentions how the guardsmen had loved ones back home.
Ultramarines and Salamanders are generally quite good to their non-Astartes subjects, and treat Guardsmen with respect - a rare thing, even among Space Marines.

It would of been nice if the guardsmen was the one who got the kill
Such a grand speech is added considerable weight when you realize it is coming from a Primaris Marine. Who would not even be standing there had the "pitiable" Guardsman not held that line for 10,000 years as he slept.

For each Guardsman that may fall to the forces of Chaos, thousands more shall rise to take their place.
For ten thousand years they have held the line against the most vile the Universe may offer.
For even if the planet may break, the Guardsman of the Imperium shall hold the line for ten thousand more years.
CADIA BROKE BEFORE THE GUARDSMEN DID
True
Ive read that the emperor actualy cares about everyone and sheds a single tiny tear whenever a guardsmen or any of his servants die in combat with some big heroes getting full tears and he weeps during great wars his custodes collect these tears

Guardsmen charge into battle knowing they will never prevail in hand-to-hand combat. Yet they still do it, for they are the mightiest warriors, the deadliest warriors...

Truly the lowly guardsman is the bravest of beings in the gallaxy, for they have no augmentation, no centuries of victories behind them, no giant stature nore gentic mutations nor blessings from unholy gods, their muscles are weak, their reflexes dull, their bodies frail, their minds made of clay easily molded or broken and yet they stand before the never ending tides of enemies who have every bit of that and more with not but the chippest and easiest of guns to produce a sharpened piece of steel for fangs and what ever scraps of iron can be spared for armor to protect them from eldritch backed super weapons and armor, they die in forgotten millions, their names blown away with the dust of their bones, and still they do not move out of the way for to take one step back brings a fate far worse then death uppon their loved ones!

BADASS
Imagine if the space marine that was defending the guardsmen was a salamander.
Amazing video it makes me shed a tear evertime he says (For 10000 years he has held the line)
If this is how an Ultramarine of the Primaris breed act and see humanity, and if the Blue Blunders are supposed to be the poster boys, then I feel it would be good for them to exemplify that deep level of humanity more.
The Smurfs don't care if guardsmen or civvies die
Try salamanders or space Wolfs
Or Lamenters
That's actually pretty wrong.
The Ultramarines are very much like the Salamanders and Space Wolves when it comes to civilians.
They often deploy to rescue people from Xenos or Traitors, and are shown to do quite a bit to save them. (For example, the Ultramarines' evacuation of the civilians on Damnos during the Fall of Damnos, with even a Venerable Dreadnought giving his life so that the Civilians could take off and get to the Ultramarines fleet in orbit. It was noted that the Ultramarines later resettled those civilians within Ultramar.)
The Ultramarines do genuinely give a damn about the regular folk. They're the kind who will not only save your life, but will make sure you have a place to live afterwards. They're not Black Templars or Marines Malevolent.
Ohhh the poor Lamenters. Constantly shit on by everything in the galaxy and still keeps on going
one sub one plink They do. It's just that many people just hate them for some reason, therefore combine them with attributes that don't fit them at all. The flesh tearers are kind of sm you were talking about.
The Leviathans would like to express their approval of this sermon by the Ultramarine Sergeant, and hereby inform you that our Chaplains have taken it for themselves to inspire our troops to remember who they protect.
The Inquisition approves as well.
Having a Khorn boi make a monologue for a straight minute without screaming/yelling Blood for the Blood God is kind of unrealistic
he was an arts major before he became a space marine, before he became a chaos space marine
Let's say he is still assimilating to the Khornite life style after following that werido Tzeetch for so long. Give him a month and it would have probably been out of his system.
The way he speaks leads me to believe that he's Chaos Undivided
He wasnt Khorne. And there are alot of Chaos that are intelligent. Just like most imperium soldiers are order following idiots that have no sense of self direction or values created by their own concious not anothers. Space marines typiclly are Submissive order followers. Chaos are typically primal instincts and urges. But in both there are intelligents of all levels.
He was a black legionnaire not a world eater.
That was literally THE best speech I've ever heard. For the human race! For the Emperor!
Let it be known that the planet broke before the Guard did!
Aye, there's some fantastic cinematography used in this animation. Works so nicely with the dialogue.
Ultramarines and Salamanders are generally quite good to their non-Astartes subjects, and treat Guardsmen with respect - a rare thing, even among Space Marines.
The Salamanders, Grey Knights(Or was it Wolves?) and Ultramarines respect the Guardsmen.
+TreeckotheRebel
No, not the Grey Knights. The Grey Knights often kill guardsmen after missions, or at the very least the guardsmen have their memories wiped and are sterilized. When the Space Wolves tried to protect guardsmen and civilians from this rate the Grey Knights betrayed the Space Wolves and attacked them during what was supposed to be peaceful negotiations.
