    This is wonderful to see since the leatherback turtle used to be endangered. It's now classified as vulnerable, but at least it's making progress.

      Statistically 2 should survive, nature balances things so that all animal populations stay around the same, so if 2 survive it compensates for the parents' death.

    Beautiful and delicate. That's what it is. My girlfriend and I had a similar experience two years ago in Greece. On our very last morning on our day of departure back home, the eggshells broke at 6:30 am. It was so amazing seeing those small 'carreta carreta's' finding their way to the ocean. With a little help of some bystanders paving the beach sand. Shame I didn't bring my Drift by then...

    I'm going to link to this on my FB page because it was awesome. If you want to raise awareness you should get in touch with some other vloggers about possibly giving the turtle rescue a shoutout. @rebelyell91, @chasein3d, @downshift83, @steelhorseclub, etc. I'm sure a lot of them would probably be happy to throw a link or a clip into one of their videos.

    I like the video, I just need to point out something...These are not Leatherback turtles. They are Olive Ridley turtles most likely. If they were Leatherbacks they would have an incubation period of 60 days and are buried about a metre deep. The facts are other wise correct if you change it to an Olive Ridley (or whatever else is may be, eventhough I'm certain they are Olive Ridleys)

    • @halfthrottle

      Ding ding ding! This video has been online for 3 years, and has been viewed 28,519 times. And you are the first person to notice my mistake. The owner of Tigre Salvaje pointed this out to me when I showed him the video, but it was too late to change it.

      +Carly Lauren I don't see how him not being there at the time this video was made matters when clearly the comment above you is the person who made this video and he has confirmed it as well. Those are Baby Olive Ridley turtles. Do you're research!

    Can't this have some serious consequences to the ecosystem if you allow all the sea turtles to get to the ocean? I get that it's cute and helpful to the turtles but it's only natural for other bigger animals to prey on them when they hatch

    • @MUNDOM316
      @MUNDOM316 2 года назад

      @Billie Joe not necessarily. Who knows when was the last time some of these predators had a decent meal, or when their next one will come. They don’t have the same luxury as most humans who have 2-3 meals a day simply by walking to the fridge, making a trip to the grocery store, or hell even have food delivered.

    love it, cute little guys.. I love watching how intrinsic natures design is.. 10 seconds in and they're doing their little air gulp thing just like Maui turtles.. Amazing.. It's funny cause on Maui you can be fined 10k for touching a sea turtle so they are doing very very well here.. I guess the market needs to be taken down first.. Who's buying these eggs? Ignorance.. gawsh it's gettin old..
