    The Cessasionist interpretation of 1Corinthians 13 verses 10 and 12 is clearly erroneous but they use it to try to justify Charismaphobia. Saint Paul's use of the words WHEN and THEN obviously refer to the end of time at the end of the world. This is a no brainer.

    • @TheJaronemoc
      @TheJaronemoc Год назад

      Nearly every cessationist I know does not accept this interpretation of the passage. It seems very clear that it is speaking of Christ's second coming, not the finishing of the Bible. Even John Calvin assertively interprets this passage as referring to the second coming of Christ. It seems a common misunderstanding of continuationists to believe that cessationists interpret the passage thusly.

      The Apostle is contrasting, the present versus the future. Partial versus full. Partial experience of God and Heaven, versus full experience of God and Heaven.
      This age versus the perfect state, in Eternity Future...when we are in Heaven...
      Then, we will no longer need to abide in faith and hope, but we will abide in perfect love forever...
      The gifts are manifestations of Heaven, now, in this age...
      Faith, hope and love, and all of the spiritual gifts are necessary for the remainder of this age, and will also continue into the next age, the millennial reign of Christ...

    2:00 To be fair, the majority of Pentecostals/Charismatics (at least from what I've found) tend to use their experience as their first and last defense. For example, I had such a discussion with a Pentecostal friend of mine once, and before it even started, he said something along the lines of, "Just so you know, I've had the experience, I know what happened, there's no way you could ever convince me that the spiritual gifts aren't for today." It wasn't until I (a cessationist in the sense of the sign gifts), brought up passages such as 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 and 1 Timothy 5:23 did the discussion get into actual scriptural basis. I'm not saying you're wrong on that point, but that there are people on both sides that do this.

      You do the same thing like your friend too. In no way does any scripture say these gifts will go away, but you believed they're gone because you hadn't experienced, or more so, your experience is that you've heard and agreed to cessationist ideas.
      Same thing. You could've turned to scripture to know these things. But you were stuck with your experiences just like your friend. And turns out you were wrong and your friend was right in the end.

This means that they can either cease before Christ's coming, or after. Based on their absence in history over the last 1,900 years, and the lack of mentions of it late in Scripture vs. early in Scripture, it would appear that they ceased very early on, and that they were used primarily as evangelistic tools as detailed in 1 Corinthians 14.

    Question 1) what was the main reason Yeshua performed healings

  • @gordonhumbled
    @gordonhumbled 10 месяцев назад

    I have a question please. Cessationists believe that after the canon was closed, I agree the canon is closed, God does not give more revelations, does not speak.
    If God gives no more revelations, then how did Cessationists know that God has given the doctrine of Cessation?
    Also, there is no foundation in Scripture to support the doctrine.
    The pillar verse Cessationists use is 1 Corinthians 13:10 in which Paul says that when the perfect has come the gifts will pass away. They give the private interpretation that the perfect came when the Bible was completed and canonized. However, verse 12 gives the time that the perfect comes. It is when we see face to face and know as we are known. These two phrases are 2nd coming words because it is Jesus that we long to see face to face and it is when we receive our glorified bodies that our knowledge is greatly increased so that we know as God knows us.
    So, the doctrine has been added to God's doctrines, God's Word, by the Cessationists.
    Also, even more so Cessation doctrine takes away the supernatural gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.
    How can they get by Moses' command, the writer to Proverbs command, and Apostle John's command, inspired by God, not to add or take away from God's Word lest one loses their salvation?
    Deuteronomy 4:2
    You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
    Proverbs 30:5-6
    Every word of God is pure;
    He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
    Do not add to His words,
    Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
    Revelation 22:18-19
    For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
    Some people argue that the verses in Revelation only apply to Revelation. However, when one realizes that the Holy Spirit placed the same command in 3 other places (also Deut. 12:32) this put more weight upon it to be God's universal will.

    I was an atheist for 25+ years and deeply anti Christian. But it was a direct physical encounter with the Holy Spirit that brought me, along with some of my agnostic / atheist friends, to faith in Christ. We all serve God in various ways now.
    God is not a cessationalist. If He was, we wouldn't be believers today. Signs and wonders still happen and still point people to Christ. And the Bible doesn't support cessationalism, most importantly.
    Cessationalism is unbelief in God's power and will, wrapped in the Christian faith.

      I don't think cessationists doubt the power of God. They just haven't seen any people who exhibit the gift of healing, the way the Apostles had the gift of healing. The apostles merely had to walk past someone, or touch someone, and they would be healed. I know God still heals people and does miraculous things. But how many people actually have the gift of healing, so that they are healing people regularly?

      Singing a song in another language is not a proof of having the gift of tongues. Many people in other countries can sing American songs even though they are not sure what they are saying. The gift of tongues in the bible is when a believer would suddenly begin praying in another human language that they previously did not know. In order that unbelievers who spoke those languages would know that they are witnessing something supernatural.

    SPEAKING IN TONGUES PART 2
    As I flipped through my bible(Holy), I discovered man may want to use KNOWLEDGE (filthy) to explain the word(living- highly spiritual) and may get it very, very WRONG. As I flipped my bible(Holy), I discovered that on the day of Pentecost, the brethren were all in ONE ACCORD(LOVE, FAITH) and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing wind, and filled all the house where they were sitting. Now, if a man of knowledge (filthy), picks up his bible and reads this literally, he will get it very, very WRONG. What does it to be in One accord, sitting down? Okay, this is what it means: a man left his house and told his disciples that he was coming back to them although not in the COMPLETE PHYSICAL REALM, but a realm next to the physical. He will COMFORT them and will manifest himself through them by miracles, signs and wonders. Now, how can he do this if not through his SPIRIT(HOLY GHOST)! Yes, his spirit is called the HOLY GHOST, and the Spirit of the father(Jehovah) is called the HOLY SPIRIT. Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit can never, never be the same. The ghost of a man(Christ) and the Spirit of a man(Jehovah) can never, never be the same. They are one in TERMS of LOVE and only LOVE and not power. Now talking about Holy Ghost and Holy Ghost, it is used interchangeably in the bible but it is the WILL of God at these last days to expose MYSTERIES hid from the FOUNDATION of the WORLD. Although the greatest Mystery is the death and resurrection of the great king(Jesus Christ). Now talking about Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit, even Professors of Theology do not know this, unless if they go online to read books of the writer, or still, read this piece. Now evil spirits and satan(third personalities in the world of darkness) is not the same, likewise Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost can never, never be the same. The Spirit (Holy) of the father (Jehovah) is like a million soldiers of a King(Jehovah). He(Jehovah) gives them order(holy) and they obey. His spirit (holy) is also along the tunnel of hell, to turn souls of men back(from the tunnel) and his Spirit is in the form of BIRD. Now Holy Ghost cannot be in form of bird along the tunnel of hell. The Spirit of a man(Jehovah) is at a REALM to dispute any power(DARKNESSS very, very possible. Forces that are neither of light nor of darkness not possible and forces of light(very, very impossible) that will want to RISE above the THRONE of GOD(Jehovah). Now talking about speaking in TONGUES, it is called BAPTISM of the HOLY GHOST. Once a man gives his life to Christ, he is expected to continue running the RACE(heavenly) FERVENTLY until such a man receives most of these gift. One of them is the gift of tongues. Now any man that sits down to learn this gift, has already incurred satanic tongues. He(She) should first and foremost stop speaking, and then go for DELIVERANCE , after which such a person may enter into fasting for God to empty him or her of the evil accumulated (satanic tongues) and for the spirit (Holy Ghost) to give him or her his GIFT(tongues). Now a man(Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Pastor) that DOES NOT HAVE THIS GIFT(TONGUES) is the MOST CHEATED MAN on earth. Why? Why? Yes, now if an Apostle(Paul) says that one who speaks, EDIFIES himself. Do you know what it means? Okay, this is what it means, a man that CLAIMS he is a born again and does not yet have the gift of the tongues is LIKE A CAR RUNNING ON A SQUARE TYRES. A CAR running on a square tyres will TRULY GET to its DESTINATION (HEAVEN) but with a lot and alot of STRESS(frustration of continually praying in English, frustration of continually fasting, frustration of ...), now one cannot and will not COMPARE A SQUARE TYRES with a ROUNDED TYRES(gift of the tongues). Yes, once such a man has that gift, he will see himself LIVING A RIGHTEOUS and HOLY LIFE with less STRESS, but this exclude such a one being beyond temptation. Such a person could still be tempted and can still(very, very possible) fall into TEMPTATION and still be speaking in tongues. A man of knowledge (filthy) will be PROVOKED why will God not collect such a gift seeing he or she has BACKSLIDED. Yes, God is not man and can never, never be man. Okay, this is the reason why a man that had the gift(tongues) and backslide, God will not collect such a gift:
    1. The person is already a GHOST to the gift(tongues). If any man will be able to explain this, then God will vacate his throne for such a one. Call all Professors of Theology let them try. Now, here is the meaning, if a man(Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Pastor) who has the gift of the tongues BACKSLIDE, he will be a GHOST unto speaking in TONGUES. The person is like a man that MARRIES (has been given the gift tongues), and later he decide to go after other women(harlot). If his wife is very, very faithful to him, then the man(husband) is truly a GHOST(false husband) unto the woman. Now the woman cannot or may not know that the husband in question is a GHSOT(false husband) unto her, but the devil knows that the man(husband) is truly a Ghost(false husband). Why? Why? Yes, any man(Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Pastor) that sleeps with a woman that is not his wife, has a CLONE(false replication of the inward being) with the devil in the darkest region of drakness. Now what the devil does with his CLONE(false replication), is to keep MANIPULATING such a man at his own will. If he(devil) wants the man to go to the devil's house(club), he will do that. If he wants the man to keep taking LIQUID of INSANITY (alcohol), he will do that. If he wants the man to SLEEP(false) with his maid, he(devil) do that. If he wants the man to ... Now, any man that writes what is written above without the grace of God, will be CHAINED by the devil. Why? Why? Yes, it is a great mystery that a man would be used at this LAST DAYS to expose MYSTERIES of the THID WORLD , when he is still at the FIRST WORLD (EARTH), seeing it is almost twelve O'clock (raptured -spiritually). Now talking about a man that is a GHOST unto tongues before the devil, he is likened to a man(adulterer) who has a wife (virtuous) and still sleeps( commit adultery) with other women. Now matter how the man is GIFTED, his TONGUES would never, never EDIFY him seeing he has a clone(false replication of his inward being) with the devil. So once the man is speaking in TONGUES, the devil will be MOCKING him waiting for him to finish his TONGUES, and then continue from where he stops( adultery). Okay, this is what happen when the BRETHREN were in one accord, the spirit of the son(HOLY GHOST) had to manifest himself through them confirming the PROMISE of Christ to them that he will send them a COMFORTER. Now, if anybody on earth speaks in tongues and CLAIMS he is speaking other languages on earth, the devil will not just look at the person as a LUNATIC(evil of evil), but even worst than an ATHEIST. Why? Why? Yes, the devil knows then, it was to SHOW(GLORIFY God) the people that came for WORSHIP at Jerusalem that God is truly ALIVE, and he(HOLY GHOST) can only PROVE that through TONGUES of MEN(LANGUAGES) on the disciples, so that people from various nations could HEAR them speak and give glory to GOD. Yet, even at that, many as at then DOUBTED, signifying the LEVEL of CARNALITY of the worshippers then. But today(LAST DAYS), one cannot speak with tongues of men and CLAIM to be speaking in tongues except such a man will LEARN it through men. And when one learns a language through man, it is not speaking in tongues anymore seeing the effect that it was meant to achieve on the people that came to worship those days yielded RESULT. Yes, as result, the SPIRIT of God(Holy Spirit) used Apostle Peter to preach(Death and Resurrection) unto the people, and the Spirit of God(Holy Spirit) convicted them and they gave thier LIVES to God, and afterwards most of them received the gift of the HOLY GHOST(TONGUES) and the gift of the Holy Spirit (gift of healing, gift of deliverance, words of wisdoms, miracles, interpretation of tongues(gift of God) etc. Now talking about interpretation of tongues, it is only a foolish man that would want one that speak in tongues to also interpret it, when the gift(interpretation) has not been given to him. The tongue given to him is for HIS EDIFICATION. Men should also work(divine) hard, so that they also would speak in tongues and edify themselves instead of depending on others for EDIFICATION. It is finished! It is finished!

    I know for a fact that the gifts of the holy spirit are still on the heart and agenda of the lord jesus and I believe he eqipps the church meaning his people but they are for his own purposes and if we try to use them in our own purpose we will have them taken away until we come back under his authority and until he wants to use them again... I've learned the hard way that he is either lord of all or nothing at all and he doesn't want us to be perfect for him to be a good father to us and to bless us and use us to do his purposes with us and through us and he has shown me the most wonderful things. I learnt that the world cannot afford or buy or sell the most important and valuable things that the whole world is trying to get through science and health services and they are not going to get them in any other way than through the holy spirit and the salvation found in Jesus Christ... When jesus said that the sinners were entering the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God before the pharasees and teachers of the law and they understood the truth he was saying that because they are trying to get into the kingdom through the law and their own efforts and self righteous actions in the guise of being religious and pious and noble and the truth is that because they were claiming that they were righteous that was the in the way to the forgiveness of sins and the mercy of God but because thieves and prostitute's know that they are sinful and they are in repentance and they were being freed and healed and they saw exactly who jesus was and they understood his message.

    This video didn’t age well. Sam Storms is the same man who couldn’t discern that Mike Bickle was a sexual predator and living in deep unrepentant sin for 30 years. Sam stated that Mike’s experiences were either extraordinary or he was a pathological liar. We now know who Mike Bickle is.
    So, if Sam could be so wholly wrong on Mike Bickle, what else is he wrong on?

    Give me a biblical definition of each of the gifts. We may not fully understand what they were and are making a lot of man made assumptions. I’m a Christian and have yet to hear a BIBLICAL definition of the gifts. Just a though for all theologians to consider. We may not be as smart as we think we are. 😊

    Give me one scripture that it says miracles and gifts of the Spirit are ceased or continued. Its your interpretation that you claim you got from the same Spirit as continuationist believes got it from the same Spirit. What we are telling to each other is we have Spirit of confusion ... Christians ought to mature and seek what scripture states it plainly, most of the cessationist arguments are birthed from fighting against flesh and blood as i see it is a major fight against word of faith teleevangelists flaboyance... how did that hinder a christian to take a scripture and interpret the other way and say that I got a new revelation from the same Spirit.... Letter kills and Spirit gives life ... Get some life guys ... I fully believe it is the operative grace of God via His Spirit in the gifts even today... Are we to say when manifestation doesnt happen then there is no grace of God.... Are you seriously telling me that Grace of God manifested in the gifts to help His church is ceased... you are out of your mind!!! speaking to the cessationist

      I don't doubt that God still heals people. I myself experienced healing in my life. But I haven't seen anyone in any of the churches that I attended that could heal people on a regular basis. And I'm sure you haven't either. In the book of Acts, it was usually the Apostles that would be able to heal people by merely touching them or passing next to them. Some peoplebelieve that the gift of healing was a sign/gift given to the apostles so that people would believe their testimony.

    A continuationist clearly doesn’t understand Scripture, and in order to make an argument that sounds valid, you have to counter a very poorly constructed argument from a cessationist. A good study of Ephesians and 1 Corinthians easily proves the Cessationist view.

      Cessationists believe 1 corinthians 13 8-10
      Says the gifts of the spirit have ceased and aren't for this time we live in. Let's keep it straight this verse is talking about the ceasing of the gifts when completeness comes.
      "Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears."
      Meanwhile it says when completeness comes they will be of no need and so will cease but the matter of the fact is we live in a world far from completeness and more destruction and chaos as we are living now in the end times where the prophecies in revelation and the bible are coming to pass.
      Their doctrine and beliefs are false. Anyone who preaches this grieves the holy spirit and believes they can say what the holy spirit can and can't do. Don't follow these people they speak falsely of the holy spirit.
      The gifts will cease when completeness has come when we are residing in heaven with our Heavenly Father. If the gifts are ceased why is there still demonic possession?, why is there illness, pain and heart break and Why is there still death?. There is no completeness in this time because sin still exists in the world we live and Satan the ruler of it.
      If God left us with nothing we would all suffer from the enemy and become lost but because God is just and good he has given us the holy spirit and the spiritual gifts. An example are healing the sick, casting out devils, raising the dead, words of knowledge, prophecies, visions and dreams and discernment of spirits that's just touching the surface of the wonders and mysteries the holy spirit can do through us and for his people. So do not believe these people who say the Holy Spirit of God is not here in our midst today.
      The reason for these people in their disbelief is the disappearance of the gifts in their church's because they move out of alignment with The word and Gods will. They make up such false doctrine and belief for their own actions and sin. If they don't repent for grieving the holy spirit of God and spreading false messages I fear for what is to come for them.
      Lord I pray you show your truth to these lost sheep who believe the lies of the enemy and who doubt your power and your glory I ask you to reveal yourself to them so they know you are here in our midst Lord and that they can find the truth and fully surrender themselves to you in Jesus mighty name Amen.

      All the apostles whose mere shadow healed people died. Jesus didn't raise everyone he knew from the death, only a select few. Even Lazarus who was raised from the dead ended up dying again. Does it mean Jesus who raised him from his grave was not powerful enough?
      There is a time for everything under the sun, if one is sick when they ought to be healthy, healing them is welcome.
