    Flight Number: AA 1807
    From: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW/KDFW)
    To: Los Angeles (LAX/KLAX
    Seat: 4L
    0:00 Pushback
    1:16 Engine Start
    4:28 Takeoff

The reason you had a firm landing was because the airplane floated over the runway for too long so the pilot flying the aircraft had to force it down to make sure they had enough distance to stop and that's also why they got on the thrust reverser and breaks pretty hard too.

I’m actually aware of why there was a firm landing. Actually, in situations like this, the pilot forcing the plane down is not why there’s a hard landing. I’m sure he didn’t do that, especially because 25L at LAX is plenty long. Rather, right before you touchdown you’re supposed to reduce thrust to idle. If you float after you’ve reduced thrust to idle, you’re going to be bleeding off speed. Eventually you’ll have bled off so much speed that the plane will not have enough lift to maintain that float and the aircraft will basically fall out of the sky and onto the runway. Based on what I’ve seen pilots say and my own experience in simulators, that’s why there’s hard landings after floaters. It’s not because the pilot forces the plane down.
