All these years I had wondered what I had missed out on by not completing this game. Now I know how lucky I was. Whoever did this walk-through has incredible patience!
snap lol Loved the game as a kid but didn't really have any idea of what I was doing :-/
Glad someone figured it out :)
same. I loved this game and just walked around levels picking up food and drink. No idea what I was doing but I still get a huge nostalgia kick just loading it up. How times have changed. My kids would never touch a game like this.
Quite lame to have everybody walk in and congratulate you. But also rewarding, I guess.
I had no idea what this game was about, I just enjoyed interacting with other characters. I spent hours just fooling around.
I remember this one as a child, on my Spectrum 48k and remembering that I did not have a clue what I was doing. Throw stone is one that command that I remembered, then I went back play Outrun, Attack Attack, Sabre wolf and my illegal copy of Jet Set Willy2, using a Black and White photo copy of the multi coloured photo sheet.
didn't this come with a 64k upgrade chip thingy? making it a Spectrum 112K game?
Anyone know what that was about?
@@JETJOOBOY no, it was the old 48k model.
@@JETJOOBOY The one and only ZX Spectrum game with a 16 kB expansion box was:
Shadow of the Unicorn
I hated this game as a boy and gave up.I just couldn't figure anything out. Later, I became Chancellor of the Exchequer.
LOL - it's funny when RUclips shows you a video suggestion, and you go, "I remember that fy&^ing game" - then you see you already mentioned that 5 years earlier...
Loved the hell outta this game. lol. Way ahead of it's time. Should remake this and bring it back. 3D version like GTA.
Mary is not amused... quality!
"Mary is not amused" when you type shit
I think this game was £15 when I bought it in 1983. I'll never forget asking the shop assistant for it and he, in hushed tones, said to the other assistant 'He's buying Valhalla'. To this day I'm not sure if they were impressed that I was buying such an expensive game or they thought I was mad to buy it.
one of my all time spectrum favorites
Great game and great video!! Thanks a lot for this!
You're welcome :)
I liked this one.. I never knew WTF I was doing, but it was great for 'Hobbitisms' like attacking people with random crap and getting them to fight each other and the like. I like that you can throw things at people and it shows it.
It was always fun doing something like
Ask Leer for sword
Leer gives the sword to you
Throw sword at Leer
Leer is dead
You can throw random crap at each other, but I always liked having a heated battle against Elrond in The Hobbit, by attacking him with some lunch or the dead warg or the rope and giving him "a nasty slash on the thigh".
Best comment, exactly how I played it 39years ago.
The only thing i can remember from this game is 'mary is not amused' ^lightning bolt^ start again
Quietly introduces multi-tasked user prompting, as you type your input while graphics are updating in parallel in the background. Wonderful interrupt-use, way ahead of its time.
I kept getting paper cuts from the instruction manual that came with this game!
Like war of the worlds I had no idea what to do lol. Remember something about ofnir lol
Streetfighter, the early years @10:06.... that's where they got the idea for Hadoken :O
The sequence that follows - where you have to open the chest - feels like a miniature Samuel Beckett play on the theme of dysfunction.
Ahh, themz were the days. :)
Looks amazing
Wait, no loading screen!? We need that to build the tension!
I never knew you could summon someone, when your about 6 years old at the time, this is abit difficult :)
You need the manual for this game
What a classic game...you jump!
Nearly pulls it off today......
Not bad for 1983, or whenever it was.
I remember swearing (as you do) before this woman walked on to the screen and gave me a slap, telling me off for bad language. Good old days.
I used to type crap ...then kill mary after ....Mary is not here....
I think it was a reference to Mary Whitehouse.
Played this at 2X speed and it still felt slow..
my favourite part of the game was when you typed in a swear word
Loki was a right irritating NOB
Just been watching American Gods on Net Fops
How did it manage to cause such terrible Sprite flicker? it's not a Master system FFS
Tell me you had the Maps/hints from Crash or similar... there is ZERO logic to this game
Thor needs to be a bit more prompt
valhalla the reason multiple choices & WASD controlled games were invented :P
So far I've watched 30 minutes of this game, and it consists of walking around begging and pestering NPCs for stuff as if you are broke and disabled. Sorta interesting, but losing its appeal fast.
Sorry...
I didn't get it in 1984, I don't get it now. No music, just lots of annoying clicky noises. I remember the flashing question marks when you typed something that the game didn't understand. Annoying fuck of a game. The fighting was just the two characters taking it In turns to shag each other. Mary, and myself were not amused. This game should be buried and forgotten in the nearest landfill.
