    I've been putting off upgrading my GEO CR612 for quite a while, almost ordered a 618 a while back and I'm glad I didn't. Today, after another disappointing alkalinity test, some research, and watching this great video, CR 818 on order! Thanks for the great video!

    I like how they added the drain port. I'm sure that will come in handy. Def get a check valve for the carbon doser, I know someone who got water in theirs and it was game over.

      Ouch, and considering how overpriced those Carbon Dosers are you definitely don't want to have to buy another.

    Looking good - down to the blue thumb screws! What type of media will you be using in the second chamber? More CA media, or crushed coral "sand", or? Their seems to be an endless debate on that...

      Gotta love all those details! as for 2nd chamber media... I’m not 100% sure yet. .... now I have to look into the sand option debate. Hehe

    Looking awsome and now I’m thinking of one for a tank upgrade again haha. Do you find your Sailfin or blue are cramped in the tank and are they fully grown?

    That’s an awesome reactor!! One day I’m gonna get a big enough tank to have a sump and make a crazy build like u have!! I love everything about ur new sump and build and your tank is amazing!! I keep entering all kinds of giveaways hoping I’ll win a big tank and sump! No luck yet but I’m gonna keep on trying!! Got to get me a big tank again!! Going through big tank withdrawals!!! Lol

    A couple thoughts, first how is the alkalinity staying that stable? are you in any way changing the dosing amount throughout the day? Because lights on corals start sucking up the alkalinity and if you're dosing a constant rate I would think you still would see dips in it. second I didn't think 6.9 could melt the media, I mean that's practically pure water :D

    That thing is big........shit ya ya that's what she said. Looks like its going to be an awesome setup. I have a duel chamber the 612x2 that I am waiting on to add to my system similar concept in the sense way way bigger then what my tank will need but just leaves me room to upgrade my tank one day.

    Hey Dev...Can the CR818 calcium reactor be used on a smaller 120 gallon setup? I just got a used 120gal tank and bought a CR818 during Black Friday while I'm slowly saving up for a 200+ gallon tank. My question is can demand in a 4 foot reef reach the capacity to use the CR818 on the 120? My concern is that the media will eventually foul in the reactor if it's not used up as a result of the CO2/effluent demand for the smaller tank not meeting a minimum amount of output of a reactor of this size...Or can the tank water recirculate forever in a large reactor while injecting C02 in small amounts, relative to the potential output capacity of the reactor??

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  3 года назад

      Yep it sure can be!! You can likely scene run a higher ph in it. It will keep things super stable as it is so massive it will hold that satiation point. Your good to go!

    Awesome setup... love the channel! So I just installed the exact same Geo reactor (minus the cool colors) 4 days ago and it’s settling in great. This thing is a beast!!! I’m sure you’re still tweaking things as well, and there’s always a ton of variables in every tank setup.... either way I’m curious how similar/different our reactor parameters are? I’ve a got a fairly well stocked 220 SPS tank, Right now I’m running the reactor at 6.78 ph, Vectra is at 50% and Versa is pulling through the reactor at 40mL/min. Keeping my Alk dead steady:) I was going to email Geo and ask... is 30% the recommend Vectra S2 setting? How is your versa working on the reactor... mine seems to have a little oscillation in the drip rate I’m not loving, hoping it’ll settle since it’s new.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  4 года назад

      S2 at 30%. Reactor PH 6.87. Versa 45ml/min pushing through the reactor. Alk 8.17 currently (just dropped it down a bit) :)

      Where did you get the pipe mods to use the Vectra S2? Is it still quiet? I have the sicce pump and the cavitation noise is terrible.

  • @gabesreef
    @gabesreef 4 года назад +1

    So if you have an apex, all you need is a regulator, a reactor and co2 tank?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  4 года назад

      Yep, ideally regulator with a solenoid. you dont "need" the PH probe" but its nice to monitor and act as a backup to keep the co2 in the ideal range. you can do this with just the bubble acount but it makes it a bit easier to have the PH controller.

  • @stevied71

    Did you add the Versa on the IN or the OUT?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  4 года назад +1

      The in. I always like to push as I find it keeps the reactors quieter

    • @stevied71
      @stevied71 4 года назад

      ReefDudes ok, so the effluent line should not have a needle valve correct? My 618 Geo reactor is an old version and doesn’t use the RO tubing. I’m going to run a carbon doser regulator , but thought I needed a small feed in pump

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  4 года назад +1

      @@stevied71 If using a normal pump or a manifold to feed it then yes you use needle vale. If using a continuous duty dosing pump like versa or kamoer then do not use anything to restrict the output.

    I just can't understand why you changed pump. Almost no benifical features over the hight quality standard pump reccomeded for a calcium especially when you say it's running at 30‰. Yes it looks cool but so would an aquabee that has 0-10v port that would be connected to your apex. I really like most of your informative videos however this just led me to feel a level poor tech choice.
