Hello, Pete Have to check out the band. The right way to say the bandname is "Yenferd"
Greetings from Bergen, Norway
Listen and order here: gjenferdbergen.bandcamp.com/album/gjenferd and lasercd.com
I think it's pronounced Gyenferd.
This is seriously good stuff. Norway`s been killing it lately.
Away for a bit so time to catch up on SoT episodes. Started with this as ordered from The Professor after a recent Professor's Picks episode so already have and heard this. A great choice from that week's order. It was the keyboards that drew me in initially and some really good songs on this album. Glad to see you pick it for review and urging other SoT followers to give this album a listen. Thanks once again, Pete, for the weekly review episodes. Will catch up on the others as time permits.
Purple/Heep/Sabbath. Sounds very interesting. Thanks Pete.
4.5. No slouch. Thanks for all your reviews Pete 👍💯
Just purchased this online on LP.....so looking forward to it's arrival. BTW, Discogs lists Sivert Kleiven Larsen on drums.
I agree with your assessment of their style with the other bands you mentioned but would add Wishbone Ash to that list.👍
That album cover would look perfect on a tee shirt.
This album of around 30 minutes is one of my favourites so far this year. Deserving of success and a bigger audience.
Agreed, definitely - hopefully Pete's most excellent review will give the band a boost!
Lots of good bands that have been coming out of Scandinavia these last several years. It's putting the Rock and Metal scene to shame in America
Sounds great!!
Gjenferd translates to (sort of) ghost
The album is excellent
Yeah this is a cool Album.
like the music. not the biggest fan on the singer.
Since watching this review, I listened to the album maybe 50 times by now 😀 It's soo good! Album of the year contender for sure! Thanks, Pete!
Great album. Just learned Gjenferd is Norwegian for Ghost.
5 tracks in and I'm really enjoying it, fantastic record! Definite Purple influence with the keys, opener 'High Octane' reminded me of Monster Magnet and I'm getting some strong Hawkwind vibes throughout! Thanks for the review Pete!
Great review, just gave the album a listen and was very impressed! Already can't wait for more from the band 🤘
Killer!!
Thanks for this review. This was one of three albums I picked up from Bandcamp today, based on your reviews and a quick sample listening. The other two were Tarot and Crypt Sermon (their previous album, as the new one was $ 666 for a digital download).
The name is pronounced just with the J, but without the d-sound first. So basically as the beginning of Yes. It's a word for ghost, or more literally "one who walks again".
You briefly mentioned Uncle Acid. I hope you'll be reviewing Nell' Ora Blu soon. IMHO it's by far the best release of the year. It's a mix of heavy psych, Italian inspired 70s prog and giallo, all ingredients I'm sure you appreciate. And a great album cover to boot.
Go to the Dark Descent Records Bandcamp page for the Crypt Sermon...normal price there.
This was recommended to me on Bandcamp and, yeah, I really dig it. Lots of fun. It's a great summer album. Thanks for talking at us about this one, Pete!
