17:15 You should check the green solo/mute buttons and the knobs next to them where you click in the claps (channel rack.) If they aren't turned off or turned down, check in the mixer. The mixer levels should be at the top and have the same green solo/mute buttons turned on. It might be a problem with automation causing the volume slider or knob to drop to zero when the beat starts, but it's hard to tell from only the clips you showed.
12:20 The only thing that lines up with that sound is that OH sound. It's either that or you have an audio clip in the playlist that plays alongside the pattern.
ocean i gotta tip for fl drill beats. use a shaker or counter snare and do a really simple and basic pattern no rolls or anything. then on the mixer put a delay 2 and turn down the time knob to 2.0 (you can see what it’s at on the hint box on the top left of fl) and adjust the volume and itll give a cool vibe
Hey men, i saw you a couple times when you only have a minimalistic home studio, im happy to see you at this pro level whit a lot of fans, very impressive men. Peace
my thoughts are whatever daw a producer started with and is comfortable with is what they should stick with. watching ocean for this long makes me want to try out logic tho
This gur is working to understand what is not his to make the working with others easier wile everyone else is on them. That proves how big of a man he is💪🏾🔥♥️
FL Studio is such a useful DAW to learn since so many producers use it. Regardless tho, it's the most important to pick a DAW that has the best tools for your workflow so you can get your musical ideas out.
please go to the left top in the piano roll and you'll see a downwards aiming arrow. In here you'll see snap, try setting it to 1/4 beat, it will make the base notes way easier to set up and than you can change it to 1/6 snap for the hi-hats. Hope you'll find this helpfull
This was interesting to watch ....ive actually heard from many producers even ones that dont use logic ...that logic is the most intuitive work flow ...but spealing of different daws I would like to see you try a tracker (renoise, deflemask, milkytracker or LSDJ ) and see what you can come up with
Definitely true, massive difference between learning through watching and learning through doing. The frustration is part of the learning process, but keep grinding and you'll see the results (even if it's just switching daws temporarily).
When your are arranging you can split the channel before you put it in the playlist and the hit shift and click the top pattern and the bottom one to select all of them on the left side on the playlist, you can then drag all of your channels into he playlist at once. It just makes everything faster
I'm very proud and happy that even after so much tiring and pressure ge makes beats looks so easy and slick. I'm your biggest fan and I want to learn music from you. Please drop tutorial for Logic Pro X, cause after watching your videos I have started seeing Beats in a different way and I get excited whenever your video drops
I try not to find humor in others sadness, but having it loop at the end and wondering where the bass went...haha We( or I have been there many times myself...lol). Much love!
A tip for splitting by channel.Get rid of the main jumbled up pattern block and go up to the arrow at the top and split the channel from there and put the patterns down individually
I started with fl 7 went to Cubase, then Logic, and back to FL a few years ago (yes I'm old 🤣), but out of all the Daws, it's just so quick and versatile.
When you are copying the midi make sure to only highlight the area you are working on. The reason it copies so far away is cause to much is highlighted and it is copying the space as well. Hope that helps
I started using GarageBand when i started I was only 8 but I enjoyed making music, When I turned 10 I got fl studio and it was pretty easy, I learned everything myself and still. use it to this day
FL is like a language: easy to learn, difficult to master. My oldest FLP file is from 09/2000. 21 years, and I still discover new things (rarely), but at the end of the day, a DAW is a DAW. I mean, we are just finding ways to trigger samples. It usually ends up that whatever you have grown accustomed to is the one you will end up preferring. That said, Image Line does do things that have pissed me off to the point of switching DAWs (like when they got rid of the mini step sequencer, which made programming BEYOND easy, especially for EDM and hip hop). I had to click this video bc I know that you are not mastering this shit in 24 hours. The basics are easy af, but there are SO many tricks and hacks in FL that it would boggle your mind. I may even make a video one day...
when i first bought FL i had the basics down in like 3-4 hours. Now that ive had it for 3 month or so there are still small things im learning to this day
Ctrl A + Ctrl B will copy the whole grid to the next bar, so if your progression isn't up to a bar it won't copy to where you stopped it will just copy the midi to the next bar. Highlighting the midi manually and individually then pressing Ctrl B will copy the midi to where you stopped Hope that makes sense
Ocean I’m surprised no one else commented it but the reason your melody wasn’t playing was because you had every mixer track muted other than #6. Even though you didn’t have anything routed to #6, everything else you did have routed to the mixer was muted. So you probably had your melodys and 808 routed to, say, track 1 2 and 3, while your drums weren’t routed to anything, thus only the drums were heard. Hope that makes sense 😂
Hey! FL user here! All the problems you had have a very easy solution, but of course if you're new to the DAW it's normal to spend / waste so much time, I would probably be so confused if I tried out Logic!
Instead of cmnd A and cmnd B, select beginning to end of your melody by holding cmnd and left clicking from the time map line above the not grid then cmnd B...🤝
@ocean You know you can do the automation Channel on Logic Pro as well.... juste found out couple months ago.... Now we juste missing slides (good ones for 808) and ghost notes.
The beats are actually pretty fire 👀👀 Quick tip: always turn off the record button if you’re finished recording cuz it will record „notes AND automation“ so if you adjust you’re velocity, volume, etc. while you play it, it will record it as an automation. Loved the video man :)
Yeah when that situation happens when u dont know how sounds are getting muted, understanding how the signal flow works in FL will save u for the most part. especially when doing stuff in the mixer. Maybe I'm just stating the obvious lol
