Explaining the sword crowbar and hatchet Each section of the bluecoats hornline has a special symbol/idol. The contraline has a crowbar, the Mellos have a hatchet and the trumpets have a sword
To my knowledge, (4 year vet and met a ton of older generation Coats over the years), we've been doing this since the early 80's..probably before Crown even existed ;)
it's a shame the Coats drown it out in far too much synth-bass on the field. the past few seasons I am astounded by how much synth bass bastardizes such a phenomenal hornline.
Between synth bass and voice overs It’s hard to decide which of the two makes DCI most unrecognizable from 15 years ago. A long time Cadets fan I point the finger at them for having won with voiceovers in 05 (The Zone). And ushered in the trend.
Ok I get it, the trumpet hangover thing is an intentional effect, but It just bothers me when there isn't that crisp cutoff. However music and ensemble sounds awesome!!
Gonna be honest chief, I liked last years show better. BUT HOLY JESUS THIS HORNLINE IS NAILS. I didn’t think they could improve a lot from last years line but DAMN. This is by far the best Bloo hornline to date. Period. Also I love when staff create exercises that coincide with show music.
So all you playing the 7th and 9th of the cord bring it down a notch dynamically and warm it up. What keeps going on about this time? It's his way, leave him be, he's on a roll.

Wow, that decrescendo at 6:09 is some good stuff.
6:49 to the end hits differently
Whoever made the decision to take out the Mello sustain at the end of the opener, you’re not my friend anymore.
most solid low brass section in a while

Was I the only one who checked to make sure I was on full volume?
Reason I don’t is because I want to keep my speakers
@@seansleee A small price to pay for salvation.

I thought that I was the only one who noticed
Daniel Brandt // i march and i don't know what it means 😅
They represent each section. Trumpet is sword mellos is a hatchet and contras is the crowbar. Why because why not
Nice , as a high school marching & concert , and big band player I give the brass a big thumbs up
oh what a dream it would be to be contra player in the bluecoats
You can do it!
Music arrangement reminds me of 2014 Bluecoats (Tilt) in style. Love it.

in the last 4 Bloo tuning/warmup vids i've seen, there's always a trumpet that misses the cutoff at the same spot 1:00

Too compressed. Listen to the audio on Hornline Fanatic's videos. That's what a hornline recording should sound like.
Messed up a setting in the audio file before export in this recording. We use the same microphone 😜
