Heard a bit of Tashiro Masashi from a couple of variety shows and commercials, but haven't known about his backstory until recently. Thinking about it, I found one video making fun of him set to the One-Winged Angel theme from FF7 to be somehow amusing. The game is bad, but it only achieve the worst of the library after the backstory of the main character got into mainstream. And that price bump sure had to do something with the current affair related to that person. It isn't the only case though. The tragic passing of Ai Iijima in 2008 caused Magical Pop'n (which featured Ai as the voice actress for the protagonist) to be one of the most expensive titles for the Super Famicom.
thank you for the warning. I was able to make it through the video despite learning about the truly awful backstory. Also, good luck with your diet. I am watching these as I do my exercises, so just imagine me suffering with you.
Yup, I guessed right some months back. The game is horrible, and I recall reading something about this guy's excesses in the past. Overall, definitely not worth it and might be in the top 10 worst games on the Famicom, but I've got a feeling there are worse games out there. Good thing you're not playing the NES exclusives, because there's some truly awful stuff there too.
Been trying to beat this one legit for a bit but the problem is that damn jump right after the first disappearing block. Since you have to kinda exploit a running jump to even get to the upper platform.
@@RndStranger I know I wrote this a year ago but I have still not managed to get past this in one legit go but once, and then I ran out of time trying to get back out of the maze....
@@RndStranger Still have only managed to get through the section @4:00 only once. The biggest problem here, even if you get past the disappearing block that is far too fast for how fast the main character moves, is that you hit your head on the bottoms of platforms, making it practically impossible to get up the intended way. Instead, the only way I found is to manage to do a perfect run up from the furthest edge of a platform to where you are actually already standing in midair to jump and double back on yourself to reach platforms directly above you. If they made you pass through the bottom of these specific platforms while jumping instead of bumping your head, this would be completely managable. As is.....
At least Super Munky Adventure lets you get hammered and wander around in circles for hours, this is just AVGN fuel right down to the sh!tshow that resulted in its coming into existence. This game helped contribute to the Mother franchise almost not being made because Nintendo was burnt out on celebrity-driven games due to rampant and sometimes scandalous shovelware like this before Itoi managed to win them over.
Wow, you really weren't lying when you said "bad things surrounding it" in the super monkey adventure episode
2:07 I think my jaw actually dropped hearing that. What the hell.

That cart must be a truly cursed object! Have you heard any strange noises coming from it late at night?

I am so glad that Beam Software is completely absent on the Famicom.
Okay, they might have a few things that Pony Canyon wound up publishing...
@@RndStranger Beam did get good later Le Mans 24 Hours dc is good
Oh god, that fan-translation title sounds even worse now, Jesus.
I had to look it up. What the actual fuck?

It really is terrible to move and platform.
