I’m glad I found this explanation. I’m new to jump rope for fitness. I tried a beginner workout on the Crossrope app and wished I had a chance to see this video first.
Thanks to your video, I was finally able to learn the boxer step! And, I've rather quickly gotten to the point where I can actually do a minute of it or so without screwing up, so yay! If my 53 y.o. self can learn this, so can anyone else - thanks so much!!
FANTASTIC VIDEO! Turning 60 this month. Just started learning to jump rope and I am obsessed! I had the hardest time figuring out the boxer step, until today! I just went outside to “figure it out” and ended up jumping longer than I have been able to so far!!! Great explanation..I was trying to lift my knees up, like I was shown on another video. I would invariably end up tripping after just a few jumps. I am sweating and grinning and falling in love with jumping rope all at the same time!
I’ve seen several “Boxer Step” tutorials and I completely agree best tutorial yet! Went out and practiced with the steps here and was able to get it down in about 4 min!
I’ve been trying to get this down for weeks! Watched this twice and got it on my next try. If you follow his steps exactly it makes it pretty easy. I’m grateful for this video and all the ones he does.
He's good! Its like he knew what Im going thru lol. Im so used to the regular bounce its the only thing I can do with minimal mess ups but eventually I get worn out.. I just can't coordinate my jumps to include boxer step. I tend to focus on getting the rhythm down on my feet but forget to swing the rope.
I went to a Kickboxing class the other day and we jumped for 9 minutes (3 sets of 3 minutes). They were all doing this box step and I couldn't figure out how they did it or how they could jump for that long. Thanks for the info.
As others have said, this is the best explanation I’ve found for the boxer step. I’ve seen others explain it, and it didn’t work. The side to side exercise makes it totally doable. Great job!
Ive watched multiple videos on the boxer step and maybe im not too bright but I just never got the rhythm down. The way you explained it by using side steps and cutting that down made me get it instantly. Thank you! You definitely deserve this like.
Spent days not being able to figure this out, but I watched this just last night and practiced that side stepping motion before heading to bed. Got it down the next morning. You don't know how grateful I am for this video haha.
Like many comments, got this down after about five minutes using this video. Never quite got it before. Only my fitness holding me back now! Thank you 🥊
I have been following CrossRope tutorials and you people motivated me to a great extent.I want to share an incident when two people were pro in skipping where I used to go for running I approached them to teach me as well which they rudely denied. That very incident made me watch videos on jumping rope right from basic jump to pro levels. Thank you once again...And all of you viewers and their positive comments on their part of struggle during jumping rope. For many others it might be miniscule thing but for jum rope lovers doing their 1st Crisscross...Boxer alternate...And..Double unders is golden moment...Which I am also experiencing now after 3 months of Jumping rope.....I am still learning....
I have watched so many videos hoping to finally learn the cool, loose boxer step. That it's not that easy, we all know who found your video. Your approach with the big side step was the key and helped me to break through. Today, thank God, I forgot my sneakers and tried the boxer step barefoot for the first time following your instructions. Barefoot is much easier for me than with shoes. Thanks to your great explanations, I finally understood the rhythm and was able to sway briefly in the Boxer Step a few times. Olé. Thanks a lot and greetings from Switzerland!
Thanks, today I did this easily and my leg doesn't even pain. I used to jump rope 1 hr, 2 hrs at a time. I'm a beginner. I used to follow along 1 hr of video 2 times. Now I can do this very easily. My leg doesn't even hurt
Have started skipping a year ago ... can’t get over the 60 seconds manage about 40 ... but the boxer step is eluding me ... watching you is a must ... going to try your method no rope first 🇬🇧👌
This is the best instructional video ever. I followed the instructions to the T. And i nailed the boxers skip within 10mins. My technique may not be that clean. But I'm sure with a little practice, i can polish it.
This tutorial is really effective, im doing the basics for 2 weeks and planned to add new tricks to my skip, i just followed your guide and damn i got it in 30mins.😁👍 Ty!
If you’re a beginner & want to learn the boxer skip this video is the best tutorial ! I struggled until I watched this one, now I jump like a pro. Thanks again :)
I rarely comment but this really helped me figure out how to do this tricky jump!! I’ve been tripping a lot but thank u so much your instructions were really on point!
Omgggf I just got my boxer step down!!!! I cannot thank you enough!!!❤❤ thank youuuuu!🎉🎉🎉🎉I was doing basic bounce, criss crosses, straddle and front to back steps...everyday for 10min..and it was quite challenging!!! I think this will help me skipp more and have greater results
This tutorial is the best I’ve come across so far. I’ve watched a handful of other videos and couldn’t get the trick but after these very simple drills I got it down. Might look too basic but it works thanks!
This is an excellent tutorial! I struggled for weeks following other videos. I did it within 3 days by following this one! And now after a couple of months, I am able to this for 3 minutes straight. Thanks a lot for this tutorial! 👌
Took me about a month of practice watching Jump rope dudes and this video but I can consistently do it now. It definitely helps to keep jumping side to side when implementing the rope at first.
This video is the best guide ever.. i've watched other videos before this and still i could not do the boxer step. i watched this video once and tried it. Within 30 minutes i managed to do the boxer step. Thanks !!! 👏👏
Picked up the 1lb, 2 lb rope set from Amazon.Just finished day 4 and 5 in 30 day challenge my second challenge in the last 2 weeks, as soon as I started swinging the 2 lb rope I'm doing the boxer step.It feels pretty cool.My calves are feeling better now that I can mix it up with the alternating and the boxer steps.Progressing a bit more every day.
Wow, thank you so much for this. New to jumping and love it. Saw someone doing this so fluidly today at the gym. Can't wait to try it out next time. Very well explained. Thanks!
Thanks for the detailed steps of doing this. My big problem is simply getting both feet off the ground. Doing the double bounce and then putting more weight on the outside foot. Also only do five skip sessions. Hoping to be a one foot jumper; it's looking possible. This is such a fun exercise, I carry a rope in my pack, to pull out at the first chance.
Just wanted to echo the comments. I never could get this right until you told me just to hop side-to-side, then it clicked for me. Thanks for the great tutorial
I finally learned boxer skip after watching this video, definitely the best and most educative one.unfortunately crossrope isn't available in our country.this year I'm moving to Germany and the first thing I'm going to do is to get a crossrope.
I find myself back here after a work injury, & this is still the best video how to boxer skip. 10 mins 2 days a week with the 1 pound CR is my favorite cardio, the 2 pound CR is a great finisher for 30 seconds.
Like most of the comments I was looking to learn how to do the boxer step. I watched many videos , but still just didn’t get it. With yours you seemed to be able to break it down better into steps Thanks so much! I can skip only for about 250 hops, but hope to go longer now that I can start learning this boxer step. And look cooler 😅😂
This is the only video which helped me get the boxer step. I always messed up my timings. The catch here is to practice the hops without rope first. After few drills like 10 mins without rope now try with rope. Suddenly your brain and body will catch the timing on when to hop with the rope. Then onwards daily practice the boxer step u will keep getting better. In 3 days your form will improve and you will do it effortlessly. Practice !!
This is what I want, a kind of really tutorial compare to other jumping rope channels. They just do a boxer skip/step talking explaining. But this, he explains and demonstrate and give the basicz so we could start from easy to hard.
Great lesson. Actually, IMHO, the best tutorial on learning the boxer step. But I just have a problem spending a hundred bucks on a jump rope as a beginner just learning and doing jump roping, although they seem to be the best designed jump rope handles and cable I've seen.
Hi. Thank you for the tutorial and the drills. I can finally do it after a year of trying and quitting. Still tripping up but your drills probably made it click for my brain.
Thanks bro , i really wanted to know the steps to how to learn this .... thanks for making it crystal clear..... keep it up ... hoping to see more videos like this soon .... Thank You 😊😊
This is the clearest instructions I’ve seen on the boxer step. Thanks so much.
Glad it helped, Daniel 😊
Daniel Clifton EXACTLY!
same! the side to side thing and suddenly it seemed clear as day. it was a whole epiphany for me
Agree! i searched many videos and this is the clearest instruction.
I’m glad I found this explanation. I’m new to jump rope for fitness. I tried a beginner workout on the Crossrope app and wished I had a chance to see this video first.

This comment went 20 to 53 really fast

it takes practice getting the rhythm down. keep crushing it.
The most relatable comment I’ve ever seen 😂

Hey, Elisabetta! Glad we could help! Hopefully you crush it at your next class 😃
Great teaching! You have the rare ability to break things down. Most fitness experts lack this ability.....
Thank you Abalaea
As others have said, this is the best explanation I’ve found for the boxer step. I’ve seen others explain it, and it didn’t work. The side to side exercise makes it totally doable. Great job!
This is the best tutorial I have seen on the boxer step. Hopefully I will eventually master this now
Thanks Carolyn! Practice makes perfect!
Ive watched multiple videos on the boxer step and maybe im not too bright but I just never got the rhythm down. The way you explained it by using side steps and cutting that down made me get it instantly. Thank you! You definitely deserve this like.
Thanks, Tommy! This is a challenging one. Glad this helped you 🙂

Finally! I'm sure some hand-eye coordination in involved here but only with this video did i finally got it.. thanks!

Love the "jogging vs. hopping" analogy.
The best and clearest tutorial for the boxer step! I've seen couple of boxer steps tutorials and made it from this one!
Have started skipping a year ago ... can’t get over the 60 seconds manage about 40 ... but the boxer step is eluding me ... watching you is a must ... going to try your method no rope first 🇬🇧👌

God, I've been trying to get this for ages, and failing miserably. The little side to side thing is genius. Thank you!
If you’re a beginner & want to learn the boxer skip this video is the best tutorial ! I struggled until I watched this one, now I jump like a pro. Thanks again :)
This is one the best tutorials I learned in a matter of minutes ‼️
I rarely comment but this really helped me figure out how to do this tricky jump!! I’ve been tripping a lot but thank u so much your instructions were really on point!
Thanks, a clear demonstration of how to practise shifting weight. Great initial basic training steps - Super helpful!
This is the best tutorial I've seen on boxer stop. I go to a kickboxing gym and now I can stop looking like a total noob when skipping.
Cannot give you enough likes man. That made it so much more learnable
This explanation 🔥!! I was loosing my mind trying to do this step. After 40 seconds of your approach -> BOOM! ➰ Great how-to
So helpful. I've been trying to do it without instruction and actually concluded I just couldn't do it. Thanks!
This tutorial is the best I’ve come across so far. I’ve watched a handful of other videos and couldn’t get the trick but after these very simple drills I got it down. Might look too basic but it works thanks!
Best instructions I’ve seen period! Thank you and it worked for me beautifully.
Finally!! This is the first time a tutorial on the boxer step actually showed me how to get it! Thank you
This is an excellent tutorial! I struggled for weeks following other videos. I did it within 3 days by following this one! And now after a couple of months, I am able to this for 3 minutes straight. Thanks a lot for this tutorial! 👌

Simple instructions with such clarity to get the basic foot steps right first.

Love that the app now redirects to these videos under the beginner tab. 👏🏻
I have watched many videos on boxer steps and yours is the only one i can do right away. Thank you and please keep up the great content!! 😍
Awesome tutorial...A step by step breakdown...I was able to do close to 20-30 steps after I kept on trying.
Such an easy to follow and clear instruction! Thank you 🙏🏻
New to jumping rope & this is the best instructional video on the boxers step. Thanks for a great video.
I find myself back here after a work injury, & this is still the best video how to boxer skip. 10 mins 2 days a week with the 1 pound CR is my favorite cardio, the 2 pound CR is a great finisher for 30 seconds.
This is absolutely the BEST breakdown and demonstration of the boxer step! Watching other videos I still felt intimidated by the routine.
Thank you!!!
Glad I bumped into this video. The perfect illustration on how-to boxer-skip. Thank you!!!
Best boxer step tutorial ive watched
Your techniques are always easy to learn. I have learned double under with the help of your video. Thank you.

Only video that explains it properly, got it straight away after watching this !
Glad this helped!
This is the only video which helped me get the boxer step. I always messed up my timings. The catch here is to practice the hops without rope first. After few drills like 10 mins without rope now try with rope. Suddenly your brain and body will catch the timing on when to hop with the rope.

Wow.. I got it in less than 3 mins practice.. . the side to side jump technique makes it unbelievably simple..
great presentation thanks a lot but you should mention the type of rope to use for this exercise.
The best instructions so far !! Thank you so much
best vidoe so far for learning boxer skip. in all other video's they were saying to shift weight but advice to Hop makes it easy to understand.
Glad you found it useful!
One of my favourite styles.. Ex-Boxer 😅.. you nailed it ❤
I did boxer skip finally. Now I need to master it. This tip really helped alot, thanks
