First, they told you it was a routine check. Then it was the cause of a supposed wrong turn. Then when they saw the cameras, they were ordered to leave you alone because they didn't want that corrupt moment on camera. Greetings from Mexico; I too think the police is super corrupt

@@jennifermenth-pavel1260 The audacity of people trying to compare us cops to Mexico’s cops. You never lived over there have you? If not then why assume? Why not go live over there so you can see how good you have it here. Mexico cops aren’t just interwoven with the cartel. Even cops who don’t work with cartels will still do corrupt stuff. It’s the norm over there. The only upside I can think of is that most misdemeanors can get solved by paying off the police so you won’t have to go to jail or have a record of it. They tend to target tourists since they assume they either don’t speak Spanish or don’t know the traffic laws in Mexico. So they prey on your ignorance or lack of confidence and will make up some traffic law that you broke and fine you for it. It also depends on the cops since some are more aggressive than others. If they catch you in a more isolated place and they have connections with the cartel, they can do much worse if you’re not cooperating. I’m half Mexican so I have family who’ve experienced this. They feel much safer with US cops.

I live 2 hours from The Mexican border. I spent my teens traveling to Mexico with my family and later with friends in my twenties. The last time I was there was 15 years ago, due to the Drug Cartels...it's simply too dangerous. During those years of travel we learned to separate our money into multiple locations. "The Cops" or "Federales" will take EVERYTHING they see. So have a "ticket wallet" with less than $20 and pull that out when you get pulled over. Include an old Costco card, ID, etc. AND do NOT leave your REAL wallet in a purse or other obvious location.
Playing stupid, I don't speak Spanish, etc. is an excellent coping mechanism.
I'd send this to the U. S. Embassy.
    They won't like it.

Thank none other than the US. We supply the drug cartels w/ weapons and plenty of American drug addicts willing to buy their product. They terrorize their citizens w/ those weapons and drug proceeds. Indeed, plenty of money as well, to bribe officials and police officers, who in turn are more than willing to rob you. As they have already demonstrated themselves to be corrupt, why not.

Then next day I dropped my co-worker and her gf off, then I got stopped again. I was confused how to get back to hotel, but I knew how to get to hotel from a landmark "police station"..Since there was a language barrier after saying I was a little lost...I kept repeating "police station" and eventually, they just walked away. I think they just gave up....at that time, no cameras were in car. I always had plans to go to Colombia, but would only go there with someone I knew and they would have been from there. As they say, being a police officer in Mexico is considered an entrepreneurial endeavor. Better to not carry cash, just credit cards, and a Go-Pro if you're going to rent a car.

Happend to me and my family coming back
From vacation into Az they took my partners ID and made us follow them to the police station and pay whatever money we had on us to get the ID back now all of us are like ehhhhhh maybe we shouldn’t return but the resort and beach were so beautiful but the corruption is sketchy makes you not want to return

Had cops in TJ pull me and my friends into a back alley and claim they saw us trying to buy drugs. We had to each pay them 100 bucks to let us go or they would have thrown us in jail.

This is sickening and embarrassing being from there. First of all those are public security only they aren’t even supposed to pull over cars!!! Next time make sure you are dealing with transit officers they wear brown uniforms not blue! Next time just throw a fit and tell them that your going to report them to the US embassy or consulate the bigger the words the more pull you have with these PIGS!!!! And record the shit out of them not just yourselves

If you take away the robbery part this is what's it's like for blacks in the us every single day. Imagine how you would feel if you lived there and this is what you had to accept.

America doesn't discriminate! The cops treat all colors the same way! We are all slaves and we will always will be because people are weak with no balls. No one will ever stand up to the Freemasonic Satan worshiping scumbags that rule this entire Flat Earth

Legalized robbery! You can call it corrupt, but, it's not. If it's routine, then it's condoned.
