The acute phase of the infection was managed at hospital so I'm not sure what medicine is used.. Following that the treatment was monthly to prevent a recurrence.. She was prescribed a typical Medication for yeast infection. She has typed one diabetes so that accounts for the long prophylaxis.

I recently scraped my fingers against an old weathered board in the garden. The edges of two fingers were left with a fine matrix of tiny slivers. I was worried about bacterial infection and treated it as such. Instead, I got the most difficult fungal infection I have ever experienced. Going on two months now, I had tried every OTC antifungal at the pharmacy. Tolnaftate seemed to be slowing the spread and scrubbing the infected area with hydrogen peroxide seemed to help though the infection still spread to my other hand, in particular finding places to root at the knuckles. I found butenafine hydrochloride, which was incrementally better than the tolnaftate. Still, by the time I was my appointment to see a nurse practitioner arrived, it still wasn't clearly under control or in remission. No I have a tube of Clotrimazole and Betamethasone. It has been about a week. The open wounds on various knuckles have mostly healed. My understanding is that fungi are particularly difficult because they are eukaryotes, the same cellular structure that the human body is comprised of. The upside is that my new white gloves are very stylish.

There are two types of mushroom producing mycelia that interact with live organisms- the ones that benefit the organism (trees for example) or the ones that attack the organism like a parasite. Musroom producing mycelia can be very beneficial to humans, like the ones that break down dead organic material and produce edible mushrooms.
Scientists are working on new ways to use fungi for humanity. There are many types of edible mushrooms to try.
