It’s now 6-5-2021, the 8bitdo Wireless to USB device firmware is V2.0 and my Xbox series x controller does not pair with the device (controller updated to latest firmware). Buyers beware! I have read a forum where it’s claimed that the 8bitdo uses a old version of Bluetooth, Bluetooth 2.1 and the controller needs at least 4.0 (LMP 6.0) If that is the case, a firmware update of the 8bitdo will not fix it.
The same happened to me with an Xbox One S Controller (EU version) and the Mayflash ns. The actual firmware is able to pair with the US version of the controller only. I think this will be solved in a future firmware update, as long a they get the EU version of the controller :)

Update your xbox one controller first on the pc before you connect it to the switch have this error first but after updating it paired, though pairing takes a minute or 2
So I just got this thing today, 5 months after this video was released, have you got anything new with it? For me none of the controllers work. I sent a message right away after finding all this problems that people had have with this thing
Arys Okami plug the controller into a Windows 10 PC and get the Xbox Acessories app from the windows store. Update your firmware there and it should start working
I’ve been having his exact problem. It doesn’t work with Xbox one controllers full stop. It works perfectly fine with DualShock 4 controllers. Such a bummer. Even after updating the firmware on the 8bitdo and on the Xbox controllers themselves. This is very frustrating. They shouldn’t advertise a feature that doesn’t work. In other news you can pair a Nintendo wii controller and nunchuck using the 8bitdo!
for me it works fine with xbox one s controller but my elite series 2 controller won't connect at all. the og xbox one controllers won't connect becuse it uses a different type of bluetooth i think
I’ve made my Xbox one X controller worked by pairing it after it’s connected to the console by micro usb cable then activating with my normal joy on the option Nintendo pro controller with use cable then pairing by it pressing the adaptador button and then the button on the Xbox remote at the begin it was pairing but it kept doing the vibration like when you barely connected but nothing happened. after doing all this previous mentioned and pressing the home button of the Xbox remote it several times and some buttons it worked then I unplugged the cable deactivated the Nintendo controller with usb and voilà! Start enjoying I hope this help someone
This helped me. At first I managed to pair my Xbox One Minecraft controller (model from 2017.) but it didnt work at all... it seems like it was connected, both led lights, on USB dongle and controller, lit solid but controller just randomly vibrated wit no other signs of life. Steps to do: 1. remove 8BitDo USB from Switch 2. connect Xbox controller with switch via USB cable 3. go to System settings > Controllers and sensors > Pro Controller Wired Communication >On 4. go to home scree and select Controllers 5. go to Search Controllers and select add controller 6. after that you should see new USB controller 7. disconnect controller from USB cable and turn it off 8. connect 8BitDo USB and press button to start pairing 9. turn on Xbox controller and press pair button 10. I hope it is working like mine :)
Yeah I just purchased one. And tried it with my Ps4 controller and it works. But tried it with xbox. I pairs but i am not able to move or press any buttons
If anyone will look for problem solution. In my case controller (bluetooth version from xbox one) was connected with adapter but actually not working with console. I updated drivers from xbox controler via usb cable, and adapter to latest version. It was mistake, because drivers from adapter was too fresh. I restorated drivers to previous version and it started working! So if you had this same issue try a fiew versions of adapter drivers, one of them should start working.
I have a similar issue: Nintendo switch OLED, Xbox series X|S controller, 8bitdo USB adapter V2, 8bitdo-firmware version (the most recent until 11Nov2022). The USB adapter and the controller do pair and even the controller vibrates when pairing is complete but there is no response in the Nintendo switch. I tried also downgrading and upgrading with all firmware available for USB adapter but it does not work. Any suggestions?
I really regret getting the 8bitdo. Wasted loads of hours trying to get it working. Even bought a new dock. Finally got the controller paired... But no input registers. Not sure why it has such good reviews on Amazon. Simply does not work with Xbox controllers. I have both a series S controller and an original Xbox one controller. Neither work.
I had the same problem tried everything. Controller was up to date. The adapter was up to date. Other things connected. I thought something was wrong with my controller. Found out the thing just wont connect if that batteries are low. Thats all it was. It connected to the xbox and it said the battery is low. Changed those and it worked.
And today we have a wonderful Saturday, the 22.05.21. A FW version 2,0 was released on 11.01.21 and the Xbox controller still does not sync with the dongle.
@@TrackDayMaker same problem, man. Just connected xbox controller to pc laptop with its internal bluetooth. So bluetooth is supported i guess. Tried all of update versions on 8bitdo adapter.. feels like shit.
AdstarGaming hold down the sync button while plugging it into the usb slot on pc don't let go until the application shows what version your using then click update
had the same problem. I updated 8 bit firmware to latest (currently 1.32). restarted switch and put both adapter and xbox controller into pairing mode connected right away for me.
Danilo Nogueira yeah bro update the firmware 1st and foremost . fully power off the switch and make sure your controller is off. Put the adapter into the switch dock and put the 8bit into pairing mode 1st Then turn on your controller and put that into pairing mode Also navigate to switch screen that shows the connected controllers give it some time it should pop up as a usb controller usually the controller vibrates when connected

2 years later and I can't get it to work with my Standard Xbox controller as well as the Elite 2 (which they've claimed now is now supported as of update 1.3)

A year later, it still does not work with the Xbox One controller even though it's advertised to work with it. I tried contacting customer support, and never received a response back. Very scammy! I contacted Amazon (where I got it) and they couldn't even get a hold if them. I guess if you're getting this for a dual shock 4 or you get lucky and it somehow works for you it's a good option, but this was I believe the only option I could find for Xbox One that was advertised to work on both PC and Switch.

I'm from Mexico and bought this on amazon. First time connecting on switch worked it a couple of minutes.. about 20 and started disconect it every 10 seconds. If I try to connect again later just last 2 seconds and it gets disconected. I have the ps4 crystal control.. I'll try to update the firmware of 8bit and we'll see whats wrong
The Xbox pad and 8BitDo pair but won't appear on the Switch change controller screen. It's an Xbox1 1708 model, it can connect to the laptop over Bluetooth and I've updated to the latest firmware. The 8BitDo has been updated to the latest firmware. Pro Controller Wired Communication is on. They pair, lights turn solid, pad vibrates. The pad also vibrates when the power on the switch comes on. But the Switch will not register it. I've gone through the setup multiple times and restarted the Switch. It will not appear as another controller. I feel like the 8BitDo is paired and taking power but the Switch is not registering it. Any ideas?
I found the solution! For all the people around that are having the same issue, connect the controller to your PC using USB, install the official XBox Accessories App and update your controller's firmware. That's it!
I have not tried. I just got the device today and have spent about 3 hours trying to get it to work and researching solutions. I have updated the firmware to 1.16 and still nothing. Additionally, I have used various models of the xbox one controller....still noting syncs.

You forget to press the share button like on the top of the controller there is a button.Press that while you are holding the home button. On the ps4 controller there is a button that says share and when you hold the share and the home button it should start blinking and your ready to pair.

Didn't they come with an update that fixes all of that? The only problem I have now is that the Xbox elite series 2 controller is really buggy with it controller profiles bit other than that it works just fine now.

I have this same problem. I have 4 black XBox X controllers. I was updated all gamepads to version 2.3.2381.0 and used 8BitDoFirmware and update device to version 1.32. I tried all three usb slos in nintendo switch dock.
I struggled and struggled to get my ps5 controller to actually do somthing it would connect and nothing. I updated firmware and installed their programs and nothing. I read all the updates on the update program and the trick was holding the sync button untill it reset
Doesn't work for me either! I have an Elite series 2 controller, it used to work but was very difficult to connect. When I would turn off my system and play another day, it would literally take hours! Today I updated the firmware on the USB, my controller and the switch. Try to connect with wired connection off , when it fails turn wired connection on again then try again . I also switched the USB port hopefully that helps , also make sure controller has at least 3 bars for best results
You need to buy V2 of 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter... That version doesn't support anymore Xbox controllers... Note: Xbox Bluetooth controllers on the latest firmware released in Sep, 2021 are NOT supported any longer, due to their bluetooth change from Classic to BLE.
However, I have tried downgrading an Elite Series 2 controller using the PC update application, and it worked for me. There is no risk in performing a downgrade; the PC application for the Xbox Series 2 controller tells you that it won't notify you about another update, but you can upgrade it whenever you want.
Also! Ps4 controller it connects but i cant play with it i either need to be super close to play or in a weird angle, so i cant use it.. also input lag due to crap connection
ironies, it's funny all of my issues went solved downgrading the adapter firmware to version 1.18, today latest version is v1.32 bringing more issues than solutions
Nate ybarra sorry I thought you meant Xbox controller, a PS4 controller should work no problem, just got ahold PS button and Share until the light starts blinking, then press the sync button on the 8bitdo adapter
Patrick Burke yeah bro it’s not working unfortunately. I looked it up on YT and it’s saying I need to update the firmware on the 8bitdo. Which is dumb why sell software that needs to be updated to the latest firmware to use. It should be backed up to the most current software.
Just worked for me. I used a micro usb cable to connect the xbox controller to the switch dock. And put the 8bitdo adapter into the usb port and press the button on the adapter and then press the home button and then the sync button and it will work in like 30 seconds

Isaac Llugdar uhm no but maybe try having the 1.14 update it might work and also I haven’t ever updated my controller so it might be the controller update causing the problem . But still you can try 1.14 maybe it’ll work if it ain’t the controller update causing the problem 🤷♂️
did you buy it from a 3rd party seller it has to say 8bitdo for the seller any other name from eBay or amazon there selling fakes counterfeits man did you plug in the wired usb to the adpter the adpter hsould have a usb end ?
Probably likes the bulkiness of the Xbox controller. I do find that the PS4 controller is a tad to small for my hands and gets uncomfortable most times.

Luis Torres hey you have to update the adapter. Go to 8bitdo.com go to support and do an upgrade. It worked for me.

Once, only ONCE, my Xbox controller connected to the adapter. It turned solid, rumbled, but it didn't register any input.

It works with EVERYTHING except my brand new Xbox Game Labs controller, and I can’t figure out why.

I had my xbox one s controller running but now it just wont connect again. My older xbox one with bluetooth still works. Odd.
It did work before but it doesn’t sync anymore. And i done everything as you should.

I have not tried. I just got the device today and have spent about 3 hours trying to get it to work and researching solutions. I have updated the firmware to 1.16 and still nothing. Additionally, I have used various models of the xbox one controller....still noting syncs.

BUT you also have to update the xbox controller via the xbox accessoir app (which you can download in the microsoft store for windows 10 idk if there is such thing on win7/8)
and you need a usb data cable
if you're not sure if your cable is also a data cable or just a charge only cable
test every possible cable you have or buy one mostly they only cost like 1$ on ebay
You forget to press the share button like on the top of the controller there is a button.Press that while you are holding the home button. On the ps4 controller there is a button that says share and when you hold the share and the home button it should start blinking and your ready to pair.

But try to plug you 8 bitdo into the back of the console
Fix for me by pressing on the Xbox One controller left bumper and share button same time paired.

Didn't they come with an update that fixes all of that? The only problem I have now is that the Xbox elite series 2 controller is really buggy with it controller profiles bit other than that it works just fine now.

I have this same problem. I have 4 black XBox X controllers. I was updated all gamepads to version 2.3.2381.0 and used 8BitDoFirmware and update device to version 1.32. I tried all three usb slos in nintendo switch dock.
Mine blinks red if plugged into the dock without the the switch in it or if the switch is off

I struggled and struggled to get my ps5 controller to actually do somthing it would connect and nothing.
I updated firmware and installed their programs and nothing.
I read all the updates on the update program and the trick was holding the sync button untill it reset
Doesn't work for me either! I have an Elite series 2 controller, it used to work but was very difficult to connect. When I would turn off my system and play another day, it would literally take hours! Today I updated the firmware on the USB, my controller and the switch. Nothing has worked, really annoyed right now. Anybody know what can work?

have u tried with Xbox one Original controller with 1708 serial number? because mine also didn't work because mine 1708 controller is fake,, then after i bought a new original one, it works.
The old controller doesn’t work because it’s not Bluetooth, only the S model controllers and up are.
Weird I had the same issue and then I updated the adapter and it work now so maybe try to update the adapter again or something ?

Try to connect with wired connection off , when it fails turn wired connection on again then try again . I also switched the USB port hopefully that helps , also make sure controller has at least 3 bars for best results

You need to buy V2 of 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter... That version doesn't support anymore Xbox controllers... Note: Xbox Bluetooth controllers on the latest firmware released in Sep, 2021 are NOT supported any longer, due to their bluetooth change from Classic to BLE.
However, I have tried downgrading an Elite Series 2 controller using the PC update application, and it worked for me. There is no risk in performing a downgrade; the PC application for the Xbox Series 2 controller tells you that it won't notify you about another update, but you can upgrade it whenever you want.
Also! Ps4 controller it connects but i cant play with it i either need to be super close to play or in a weird angle, so i cant use it.. also input lag due to crap connection
ironies, it's funny all of my issues went solved downgrading the adapter firmware to version 1.18, today latest version is v1.32 bringing more issues than solutions

Plug the controller into a Windows PC, run a firmware update on the controller, then it will start working

Patrick Burke yeah bro it’s not working unfortunately. I looked it up on YT and it’s saying I need to update the firmware on the 8bitdo. Which is dumb why sell software that needs to be updated to the latest firmware to use. It should be backed up to the most current software.
Just worked for me. I used a micro usb cable to connect the xbox controller to the switch dock. And put the 8bitdo adapter into the usb port and press the button on the adapter and then press the home button and then the sync button and it will work in like 30 seconds

JUST UPDATE YOUR 8BITDO FIRMWARE FROM PC! DOWNLOAD IT FROM 8BIT DO WEBSITE, GO TO SUPPORT SECTION AND CHOOSE CLASSIC DEVICE AND DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE. OPEN THE APP AND UPGRADE IT BY KEEP HOLD THE BUTTON BEFORE PLUG INSIDE USB SLOT. HOPE THIS HELP YOU GUYS!! 😉

I had the adapter and it didn’t worked but the after updating the adapter to 1.16 it works so I dunno try updating the adapter again or something

Probably likes the bulkiness of the Xbox controller. I do find that the PS4 controller is a tad to small for my hands and gets uncomfortable most times.

No. The only console the adapter works with is the Switch. You can use it on PC for that effect, though.
