Did The Simpsons go too far with some of the Jokes and References of Germany and German people? Please comment what you think and also if you are German or not.
@@joshgellis3292 Most jokes are based on stereotypes and have little to do with real Germans. So u don't feel offended. Besides, we're joking about the USA too...
The Germans are known for their work ethic, diligence, discipline, punctuality, and hard work, but they also have a pleasant attitude. In fact, if you ever visit Nova Scotia where more than 10% of their population have German roots, including my ancestors being the Eisenhauer/Isnor family, you'll find that they are also pleasant, industrious, and intelligent. Keep in mind that without the Germans, Halifax would not exist.
00:56 In the German dub they gave these guys regional dialects. The mustache dude had a Bavarian accent and the guy with the glasses had a Berliner accent. The dude who looked like Feldwebel Schulz however had no dialect.
I am actually from Germany. The jokes are very funny... very stereotypical like the Simpson makers always do. I can't even breath because the jokes are so funny. Love it! 😂😂😂😂😂
Immer interessant zu sehen, wie man von außen wahrgenommen wird. Ich kann darüber lachen . . . obgleich dort auf Stereotypen zurückgegriffen wird. Anders ist in so kurzen Episoden ein Plot auch schwer möglich.
I am german and I wish, they would have spent a little bit more time in researches or getting german nativespeakers here. That's no real German, it is, what americans believe, what German is or sounds like. It's not only bad accent, it's just totally broken German and makes no sense now and then. For example "Weihnachten" is just "X-mas" and not "Merry X-mas." .... "Frohe Weihnachten" would be "Merry X-mas". Later, Mr Burns says "Du verspielst deine Zeit", but correct would be "Du verschwendest deine Zeit". As a matter of fact, in Germany we say "Du/deine" to people we know for a long time, friends, close businesspartners etc. A more polite form and for people we do not know for a long time and short-time-businesspartners we rather say "Sie"/"Ihre". So the sentence would be correct "Sie verschwenden Ihre Zeit". The english language does not know this difference, here it's "you" all the time, no matter if the other person is a friend, a person of respect, a total foreigner etc. ..... The word "verspielst/verspielen" means actually losing something, for example money in a casino. But you can also "verspielen" your life. It really means rather losing than wasting. And Adolf says "Ach du lieber...", but correct would be "Ach du lieber Gott" or "Ach du liebe Güte", so here is missing a whole word. Of course, he would never say "boobie" in an else german sentence. It all has a charme, but it all is mostly wrong. :D
At 2:06 you can see the companies name on the check. The name is "Zwei Reihe Typen Inc". It doesn't make sense like this, but I think they wanted to translate "Second row guys" into german.
9:54 Also, it's "isst", not "iest". German has short vowels too; it's not a Romance or Slavic language. Why do so many people get this wrong? And you'd think Lisa would know better, because she's, you know, Lisa, and she knows everything. Except sex - she doesn't know about sex, for some weird reason.
One hillarious "german" moment is also in the movie. President Schwarzenegger's voice in the german translation is so on point and in my opinion even better than the english version. They nailed his austrian accent perfectly
WAAAAAAIIITT!! Uter is actually A GERMAN in the american simpsons?! what the heck, i feel disgusted as a german. In the german simpsons (and i saw any episode of all the 30 seasons) he is some guy from sweetzerland (what actually also would have been much more logical. for gods sake he is not german, nothing fits there). @@cashw55 it's mostly the chocolate, which Switzerland is really famous for. Lederhosen also actually aren't common in Germany except for one state, which is a neighbor to Austria and Switzerland. In those two countries Lederhosen are much more common, so while they could be associated with Germany, it fits more with Austria and Switzerland, but mostly the chocolate is a stereotype that's very associated with Switzerland.
@@cashw55 yes that might be a culture shock. The general German stereotype is having no humour and always being strictly on time (which south park capitalized on pretty well). It's just a stereotype and German trains are hilariously late all the time, but yeah Lederhosen are exclusively seen in Bavaria as well as in the neighbors Austria and Switzerland. A lot of other cliché German things like the Oktoberfest, Weißwurst mit Sauerkraut and feathered hats are also pretty much exclusive to Bavaria, as is the intense beer consumption (pretty much every village here has their own beer festival, and the Oktoberfest is just the biggest and most well known out of these since it's in the bavarian capital). Hamburg is another thing though, it's actually really famous for its red light district (no joke, it's called the "Reeperbahn" and has the nickname "the most sinful mile on earth") and being almost anarchistic in some parts, so it differs from the stereotypical German even more.
Ahh the Siegfried and Roy joke aged well. To be fair anyone could have predicted that would happen eventually. So it doesn't count as another Simpson's prediction.
