I saw this when it was new 16 years ago, watched it many times and then forgot. So sad. So happy to have been reminded of it and came back to see it's still up.
I found this video like over a decade ago and it still gives me goosebumps. Literally the best ukulele work I've ever witnessed. I never knew a human could strum that fast.
I’ve seen Jake reprise this version over the years, but there is something very magical about this particular performance. Perfection. Don’t think it can be outdone.
10/2022. I could've sworn this was one of the "viral" videos back on the beginning days of youtube. Now realizing it only has 375k views, while nowaday "viral" is 10mil+ views. How the internet has changed.
One of the first RUclips videos I’ve ever seen. The world changed a lot , everything changed a lot since then.. I am very glad and thankful that this beautiful classic still exists 🙏🏻 Much love from germany
When I was 4, my dad went to a Jake concert and when he came home, bought me a ukulele and taught me everything he knew. Then I learned guitar and piano and now today, still love this video and Jake Shimabukuro because without him I would be a different man. Music is my whole life and I owe that to him.❤️
Saw this video about 10 years ago. Kids ended up buying me a ukulele for Xmas. 5 ukuleles later I am still learning. Having fun writing and playing tunes.
This easily became my first favorite RUclips video back when Yahoo Launch and Ebaumsworld became a thing of the past. I watched this for the first time between college classes as a music major. I'm now going on 38 and have 4 children, 2 of which are teenagers, and this is still among my top favorite videos on all of RUclips.
I saw this video 15 years ago, And started playing the Ukulele. My first ever instrument I really leaned into. I strive to make these tiny bundles of joy sound more serious than a guitar.
17 years later I keep coming back to this video. So beautiful and inspiring ❤️ it makes me feel so good when I don’t. That picking towards the end is insane! Still trying to get even slightly close to this skill level.
Lots of Jake's music now available on CD, including live performances. His playing definitely stomps on the opinions of anyone who dismisses the ukulele as a mere toy. Amazing playing.
I first saw this about 10 years ago and I am still in awe as to how an artist can generate such fantastic sound from such a tiny instrument. I wish the artist the best in his journey through life. Absolutely fabulous and I am grateful to have shared this. I have never owned a white shirt now I understand why. Cheers Guy.
Long time listener, first time commenter. This has been a staple for me when I’m upset and it never fails. Whatever you’re doing now I hope it’s exactly what you want. You truly are a cut above the rest and thank you!
I’ve just rediscovered this after years as my 5 year old has just picked up a tiny guitar and I was showing him how my fingers couldn’t fit the fret board but there are incredibly talented ukulele players who can; it’s still amazing.
Jake Shimabukuro, wish him so much success!!! The highest point an instrumental musician can reach. I'm nor his mom, nor his friend, just feel the World deserves him!
Out of the current 480k views .... over the past 17 years .... I account for 80k-100k of those views. Been on repeat for years, always coming back to it.
I remember listening to this video about 10 years ago and had to see if it was still on RUclips! I'm very surprised that this didn't pass a million views! Very talented player!
THIS is the video that destroyed my ignorant “Tiny Tim” (from the ‘70s) stereotype of the ukulele as a legitimate and versatile instrument. I saw Jake live not long after seeing this-over a 100 concerts in my lifetime; NEVER have I been so blown away by a performing artist! I am a guitarist; I am now a ukulele player, trying desperately to play catch-up for all the lost years that I snubbed this wonderful instrument…😐
I haven't watched this video in quite some time. (Years). Something just came up that reminded me of this video, so I tracked it down again. It's just amazing ! I just sent the link for this video to my son. I'm sure he will appreciate it just as much as I do.
I come back to listen to this at least once a year for 15 years now. Still one of the most beautiful things in existence...
Literally do the same thing! This video been a part of me half my life now! & it blows my mind it has such a low amount of views
I come back every year to watch this. It's the most extraordinary performance that I have ever seen
@@MikeyTripz I agree. Was just thinking of the same today when I re-watched it for the zillionth time 😁
Me too! People rave about Prince's solo - and that too is great, but this is beyond compare
I saw this when it was new 16 years ago, watched it many times and then forgot. So sad. So happy to have been reminded of it and came back to see it's still up.
16 years later and it's still the best ukulele work I've ever seen.
Classic, when RUclips was RUclips. Before money and ass and sh*t. Remember watching this in 2006 and was like HOW?
Tbh I like ass and sh%t
My dad showed to me this video when I was somethin like 7, now I am 18 and on this Christmas day I found it back, I'm getting very emotional
Exactly, some people say perfection isn't achievable on this earth but I strongly disagree. This is it!
Jake cannot do it again by himself. THis is magic of only a particular momment.
I agree this particular video is "gold" as a musician sometime you accidentally make masterpieces this is on of those times for him it's perfection
This performance is simply lightning in a bottle. There's something magical about this rendition
10/2022. I could've sworn this was one of the "viral" videos back on the beginning days of youtube. Now realizing it only has 375k views, while nowaday "viral" is 10mil+ views. How the internet has changed.
And they’re usually complete nonsense!
I watched this with my dad when I was really young. I’ve watched it many times since then and I’m here again!
I think its been deleted and reposted.
i cant believe it's been 17 years
The reason I bought a ukulele years ago.
15 years and this still blows me away. Strum on man
I watched this in 2006/2007...till this day I feel the need to see this performance time and time again...bravo
The same.. the best of till the tears of joy !!!!!! Right ?
this is still my favorite version of all the ones he's played
Same.
Same
Same. Right around the time George passed. That energy came from somewhere…
This can play at my funeral
One of the first RUclips videos I’ve ever seen. The world changed a lot , everything changed a lot since then.. I am very glad and thankful that this beautiful classic still exists 🙏🏻 Much love from germany
I'm surprised this mesmerizing classic doesn't have over a million views! Saw it first over a decade ago🤙👍💯.
the ending where he picks all 4 string continuously is amazing!
When I was 4, my dad went to a Jake concert and when he came home, bought me a ukulele and taught me everything he knew. Then I learned guitar and piano and now today, still love this video and Jake Shimabukuro because without him I would be a different man. Music is my whole life and I owe that to him.❤️
Still ranks in top 3 best vids I've seen on RUclips
Years and years after, this cover still gives me certain emotions
EXACLTY
Old, but gold❤

This guy was a Ukulele God before Ukulele became cool again. So damn good.
One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Years later this is still a classic favourite 🤍
Never get tired of hearing this. Bravo,Jake.
One of my core memories

I can't believe this video only has 385K views (11/9/2022). I'm pretty sure I'm about 13K of them. Such a great rendition. George would be humbled.
One of the 1st videos I seen on RUclips and here I am 15 years later.
That was FANTASTIC. Absolutely gorgeous!
Considering how much Harrison loved the ukulele, I imagine he would have loved this.
what a legendary video, thanks for the 10+ years of memories
I saw this video 15 years ago,
And started playing the Ukulele.
My first ever instrument I really leaned into.
I strive to make these tiny bundles of joy sound more serious than a guitar.
17 years later I keep coming back to this video. So beautiful and inspiring ❤️ it makes me feel so good when I don’t.

Watching it 13 years later and still good
Watched this a thousand times in the last 10 years. Inspired every time.
I watch this every few years and get goosebumps every time. Early days RUclips you needed talent.
My guitar isn't gentlt weeping, it's having a class A mental breakdow...that was fricking awesome!
Wow. As beautiful as I remember it.
I remember watching this 10 years ago. Wanted to learn this so bad. Love watching this and the nostalgia
Wow, no more words, just...WOW!
Lots of Jake's music now available on CD, including live performances. His playing definitely stomps on the opinions of anyone who dismisses the ukulele as a mere toy. Amazing playing.
***** But they are, as he says, toys. What is a toy but something you play with to create joy? :D
Thanks, beautiful moment when I discovered this unfortetable video 15years ago
Damn, I found this 2 days ago and I've already rewatched it like 20x 😂🔥🔥
Still magical almost 20 years later 😮
I first saw this about 10 years ago and I am still in awe as to how an artist can generate such fantastic sound from such a tiny instrument. I wish the artist the best in his journey through life. Absolutely fabulous and I am grateful to have shared this. I have never owned a white shirt now I understand why. Cheers Guy.
I first heard about Jake in 9th grade, when i was 14. Im 26 now, still come back to this once in a while.
Mind, exploded.
I saw this guy open up for kaki king a few years back. He played the most beautiful rendition of Ave Maria I have ever heard.
theres some serious passion for guitar right there
This is the first video i've ever watched on RUclips. Times fly and this guy is absolutely nailing this song every time i am watching :D
Love the sweetness of this instrument. Just bought myself one and am completely in love with it. The sounds are like fresh morning dew for the ear...
still listening to this at least once a week.
Incredible. One of the best versions of this song.
Thanks Brandon Sanderson for the recommendation :D
I play your song all the time.
You are a genius.
Long time listener, first time commenter. This has been a staple for me when I’m upset and it never fails. Whatever you’re doing now I hope it’s exactly what you want. You truly are a cut above the rest and thank you!
Jake is a master on the Ukulele, so happy I found him many many years ago! Love this.
Major goosebumps. So beautiful, almost made me cry.
Pure magic. George would have loved this. ❤❤❤
I have been coming back to this video for 15 years and I’m always blown away like it my first time listening to it. Incredible.
Awestruck I fall to my knees as I humbly proclaim!!!!
Three letters : W O W!!!

Brings a storm to his audience just through his playing, omg, saw him at Strathmore in Silver Spring and he is Amazing!!!
Clearly a wizard, cyborg or alien of some description. Bravo!
i love the strumming at the end
I literally hear the guitar cry trough the amazing voice of this little uke. Incredible performance !!
This video always takes me back to the beginning.
This video is so great, I wonder why it does not get the attention it deserves...
I’ve just rediscovered this after years as my 5 year old has just picked up a tiny guitar and I was showing him how my fingers couldn’t fit the fret board but there are incredibly talented ukulele players who can; it’s still amazing.

This is OG RUclips, lost in the annals of history to the videos that fuel the content machine now. The real ones are lucky enough to experience this
Unequaled virtuosity.

Still fucken legendary in 2024!
MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING
Jake Shimabukuro, wish him so much success!!! The highest point an instrumental musician can reach. I'm nor his mom, nor his friend, just feel the World deserves him!
This is a gem.
Jake, my friend, you are truly amazing. Keep up the good work. Give us more!
this makes me so happy, there doesn't need to be a singer, its good on its own
simply amazing!!!
I love this song... and this version is just breathtaking!!!
Still THE best rendition of this classic song ever! On only four strings, no less!
Out of the current 480k views .... over the past 17 years .... I account for 80k-100k of those views. Been on repeat for years, always coming back to it.
