I was at the band stand in Kap Park,, also at the Uke Festivals. So glad i lived on Oahu.. worked in the same block art Kamaka factory, Fell in love with the uke,
I've been to a few of his concerts when he comes to Austin. Jake stayed afterwards to meet his fans and sign CD'S and other merchandise. Yes, he is a nice guy.
Never in my life have I heard a ukulele played like that, you truly excel yourself sir, I'm a uke player too but I can always dream that I could play like you, what a performance, hats off to you sir, 🎩👍👏👏👏
And at 3:02 I hear angel’s harps while millions of colorful butterflies surround me as I am lying on a peaceful meadow and the green grass tickles my bare feet. ... Simply one beautiful piece of artwork!
The finest violinists can make their one instrument sound like 20 all playing together. Seems like this phenomenon is now is now also possible on the ukulele. Bravo sir.
I wish George Harrison were alive today to hear this wonderful arrangement and performance of his composition I think he would have wanted to "jam" along. Bravo
Probably 20 years ago, Jake played at an outdoor summer concert series in Chattanooga. A lot of folks weren't paying attention, until he played the Star Spangles Banner. It got super quiet and one by one everyone stood up to see him and listen. They were his for the rest of the evening.
People with the thumbs down probably were expecting to hear a more straightforward tune. This is for musicians, and lovers of great musicianship and true creativity. Wowow
bronxbudget he was great but for the first four minutes it seemed like he was just showing off. I could understand people not liking this as much. This is like some tommy Emmanuel shit which has its place but like sometimes you just wanna hear the song itself. But great performance tho not gonna lie
We just saw Jake for the second time last night... Wow! What an incredible show! I'd be hard-pressed to think of a more talented musician. As talented, yes, but more?! It would be tough. His musicianship is great and his shows are fun. Everyone should try to see him live at least once in their lifetime!
And sometimes a kid just ask God the force to keep going year after year practicing and mastering his art wile other just pray for miracle gifted grace of God
Clean, Clear sound, the notes: melody, harmonization / orchestration for only a four stinged musical instrument in the hands of a Grand master Uke Virtuoso... Bravo Jake!!!!
The very first song I learned how to play, start to finish completely. Played on my Epiphone EJ160 E way back in 1968. Awesome rendition to an original
An artist has to have a vision (hear it in their head) of what they and their instrument are capable of doing together...and then they must practice and work hard to realize that vision. This is a wonderful example of that process...very skillful and engaging...well done! As far as people who give thumbs down, I figure it's none of my business but I do look forward to the day when some musician, song and performance get a thumbs up from every single person in the world...that will be a wondrous thing...
timing, musicality, performance, expression.. tell me there is a better musician in the world..Jake, thank you, I LOVE your stuff, blows my mind every time
My musical mind climaxed and was blown at the same time! Holy freaking goosebumps BadMan on the Uke! I thought the strawberry fields version video was too much! This is almost on a different level from that 1! Thank you eternally for this Jake! I can't wait to show my Grandpa this since he was the 1 to introduce me to this man in the first place!
If you ever get a chance to see him live, make it happen. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing. He is the Tommy Emanuel of the ukulele.
Disagee.......(and disliked). I like him as an artist and have followed him for years but this ‘interpretation’ of the song is more about showing off, than art. It was painful to watch. His other versions of the beautiful song he loves so much, are done better and purer.
Wow! That was just amazing, I am a complete beginner in playing ukelele, but really enjoy playing so far. now I have something to aim for! That was absolutely awesome in every way thank you!
Arrr, love how he gives imo the most talented person from The Beatles a mention ,,, George was a huge ukulele fan , but more banjolele,,, i know George formbys "1927 Ludwig crown " which he paid a lot of money for is still at his family home ..... Jake is amazing
That was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen and absolutely the most amazing thing I've seen played on the ukulele. You are the Tommy Emmanuel of ukulele. Would love to see Jake and Tommy play together.
I saw him at a High end furniture store, Inspiration Furniture, in Vancouver, B.C. I was working in the building and came down to see him at about 3pm. He was about a 45 minute concert.
There are certain pieces of music which when complete I have to sit and just absorb what I just heard because it was so satisfying. Jethro Tull’s Thick As A Brick CD, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, Yes’ Close to The Edge...and now THIS!!! Floored. And I’m a guy who usually places uke players with the same disdain as mimes. What did I just listen to? Magic!
Killer version. I saw Jake about 4 years ago and the night was magical; he's an incredible entertainer. And with his interactions with the audience - he seems like a great human being to boot. I like the Peterson strobe clip-on tuner he's using. I have one. And nothing I play that it clips on sounds like it's from the same planet as this : \
Met this man and heard him dozens of times when I lived on Oahu. He is amazing. And a damn nice guy.
He is from Hawaii?
I was at the band stand in Kap Park,, also at the Uke Festivals. So glad i lived on Oahu.. worked in the same block art Kamaka factory, Fell in love with the uke,
I first saw his band Pure Heart in 1999 at a street festival in Honolulu. Seen him about a dozen times since.
I've been to a few of his concerts when he comes to Austin. Jake stayed afterwards to meet his fans and sign CD'S and other merchandise. Yes, he is a nice guy.
The perfect fusion of someone who listened to their teachers AND listened to themself.
All those melodies and strums of emotions reflected only by using the 4 strings... I bow to you, sir..
graviron I see what you did there
was that intentional
He's the Michael Jordan of ukuleles
@@nsmy808 That Ukulele is the Nike Air Jordans of ukulele players.
If you like good music on few strings, watch Seasick Steve.

Hats off to the strings for hanging in there

George Harrison is alive?
@@bejamin9210 no. that was the premise of drag's response.
George loved the ukulele so I'm sure he'd be blown away.
I'm pretty sure he's fine with listening to it from the afterlife.
He would have cried.
When someone with magic fingers tells his ukulele that it is going to act as classical guitar today, and doesn't take no for a answer.
Quite simply one of the greatest musical performances ever recorded.
Probably 20 years ago, Jake played at an outdoor summer concert series in Chattanooga. A lot of folks weren't paying attention, until he played the Star Spangles Banner. It got super quiet and one by one everyone stood up to see him and listen. They were his for the rest of the evening.

Yes we all would like to play half as well as Jake
Stunning, what a musician first time seeing this guy I am blown away what an amazing player.
Always amazing to see and hear Jake play,...anything he want, anyway he wants!!
My guitar is gently weeping after hearing this played on a Uke 🤣

This makers me go cold ........... to get this BIG BIG and beautiful sound on a ukulele is mind blowing
I loved every second of this ... what a talent.
Sometimes God smiles down on a kid and gives him a rare and beautiful talent to share with others.
And sometimes a kid just ask God the force to keep going year after year practicing and mastering his art wile other just pray for miracle gifted grace of God
maybe it's just practice
you know how to get to carnege hall??
It's definitely God, the creator God, and Him alone, that gives talents and abilities to men and women. The universe is a place. It gives us nothing.
Barry Sargent God isnt real though. So it’s nothing as well.
OMG, that's mind blowing! Incredible performance 👍
Clean, Clear sound, the notes: melody, harmonization / orchestration for only a four stinged musical instrument in the hands of a Grand master Uke Virtuoso... Bravo Jake!!!!

Just off the chart ridiculous. This is the best ukelele performance ever. Fight me.

Hope this gets more views, he really put his own spin on this. Its great.
2:45 always makes my heart go "hngngngnnnhg". that chord progression is absolutely beautiful

i was curious cause ive never heard ukulele. ive been amazed by this guy for like 2hours now
One of my favorite songs, what did he just do with it? Wow just "Amazing" can't believe he got so many sounds out of a ukulele. Glad I found this.
People who disliked this are probably too miserable to appreciate anything at all
People who disliked this are simply not "getting it."
I have a feeling that there are people that “thumbs down” every video on YT.
@@digitaltissue maybe the Thumbs down are generated just to annoying people.
It barely songs like the song. Cool as a performance of music, but the spirit of the song is dead here.

I need to start playin mine. I was moderately good on guitar could play Stairway to Heaven full score. Can't anymore.
