I much much much more prefer his original performance. Its way more intimate, which suits the song better. It feels like he is more showing his technical prowess here than doing the original song justice.
I prefer his solo...that same video you talk about. ruclips.net/video/qw6YL_l2YxA/видео.htmlsi=UdatMzRzd7uV0IVf I was talking to my 13 year old son about it today which brought me here.
Big smile on my face😃 when I listen to this version of this song: great!!! (the bass: it's not hearing the sound, but "feeling" the bassound under neath the uke and guitar, wonderful done)
WOW! Extraordinary, beautiful, bright, and such a tight trio! I love this - just read about Jake in the SF Chronicle pink section and looked him up. And I'm so glad I did!
So, beautiful. I love, love, love this Performance of Hawaiian Island Musician & Ukulele Player..This Jake is truly " Tremendous :& outstanding Musician.." what a blessing to all of us..Keep the Videos a coming. Please keep making Music. And keep Writing & Singing. You got a New Fan in me. You are a " True Gem Jake S .!" Keep Shining there.
I love that he came back around and re lit that flame for me and remember straight nostalgia because I always go back to the original, but I must say the original with nobody else is WAY better the passion and sounds were just too unique and pretty this one here gets a 4/10 for me just based on performance and sound …
I've seen him replay this song a few times since the original video & nothing ever comes close to his original performance. Makes me curious why he doesn't just play it that way anymore? Like was it some supernatural moment in which he can't replicate? The song was perfect in the original & all the other renditions just sound.. off =/
Saw Jake in Gts Pass Oregon a few years back. Brilliant and boring. The video confirms my opinion. Your opinion may vary. And then there is OtahSan. he is a musician , not a stage act.
While Jake and his uke shouts joyously in playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps... in essence: "While His Uke Vibes Joy"
I just saw him perform with the Allman Betts Family Reunion in S.F. Last night. Had to look him up. He’s so impressive. ❤
Jake playing this song in 2005 was one of my first youtube video watched on the platform
the vid that was 17 years old is still there. i watch that at least once a year. lo and behold, 2023 has a new vid!! Hell yeah!!!!
Jake has a video performing this exact song from 16 years ago and it's probably even more intense because he's playing it solo.
I much much much more prefer his original performance. Its way more intimate, which suits the song better. It feels like he is more showing his technical prowess here than doing the original song justice.
Just beautiful.
I prefer the original. This version is way different.

@@Rem_NL I see this more as a tribute to IZI and the beatles, more so than a solo piece. There is alot of 1960's harmonic beauty in this form.
I am a brand new fan!
all the different mini-pieces at the start and end are so nice
Jake was, and is the best uku burner in life
Would love so much to be as good as him
2:08 IZI bruv. So beautiful.
Exquisite..
Magical sounds on the first part on the "I don't know why.." section

Angelic version, thank you for sharing your love and talent. God bless one and all.

Saw him play it live in Chicago some years ago at the Auditorium Theatre! So wonderful!
