When I first heard of Amon amarth I started gaining muscles and lifting more weights at gym😆. These tracks are like mini movie clips just listening to them.
my 12 year old nephew heard me playing this and before the song was half done he had grown a beard, built a boat, and forged a battle axe and has carved a shrine to the gods.

+Darius Ascendus the reason people who have been Amon Amarth fans for a very long time have hated on the new albums a lot is because the old albums had such a raw sound to both the music and the vocals where as now they gained more of a power metal feel. I don't love them any less because of this but since deceiver of the gods people have began to notice

Since Surtur rising , the songs and the style of the band is more melodic death metal generic , I don't say that is bad, but there is no epic atmosphera of a battlefield or a hymn to a ruthless norseman. Just compare this song with North Sea Storm or The Avenger
+Eduard Jaimes I totally agree with you. Avenger is surely one of their better ones. But I have to say that I slightly prefer the new stuff (last 3 records). Sure it's not as atmospheric as it used to be (just as you said), but the production is just so much better. I really don't get why people bitch about good production in metal. If I write a kickass riff, I want to be able to hear it for fuck's sake!

I really don't understand the hate on Deceiver of the Gods, I like it a lot, it has an atmosphere that sounds really\ beautiful and sad, it is not brutal like the old ones, but is kinda refreshing and I really dig it. As Loke Falls, We Shall Destroy and Under Siege, are just epic songs
+galizralynd This is the first I have ever seen of people complaining about Deceiver, it was a fucking masterpiece, brutal, melodic, and rich in story, just overall incredibly epic, especially the last track.

God alreay. I tried "Deceiver..." a couple of times and found it pretty
boring (you need more than a couple of great songs to make a good
album... last example in date is Rotting Christ: great first half of the
album, super boring second half) so I almost gave up on them... But
then I read "concept album" and heard this song... Pretty cool actually!
I'll keep an eye on this and see how good the album is in the end. ;)

+galizralynd TLDR[deceiver of the gods is good but its no twilight of the thunder god,jomsviking is win] I don't think people "hate" or even dislike every song. For me if you compare it to surtur rising with the sound system in my car, and then My fav deciever song coming of the tide. It may just have a mix that I like better but it doesn't feel like thats the case. Theres more depth to the music. This is even more true for twilight of the thunder god. Again this is just my humble opinion. It's not that I can't windmill the fuck out to that album and that doesn't stop it from being on my phone. It just felt like too many song's were about loke and they weren't different ENOUGH to be super memorable. Jomsviking with the two songs so far DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

I have developed a weird obsession for this song. Out of all the great songs Amon Amarth has made over the years and out of all the great songs they have on Jomsviking, this one suits me the most. Maybe because I left my family after I couldn't stand my abusive father, lived on a rented flat for years, then finally got my own place. I cut all ties with my family so the lyrics speak to me.

the first kill was the first song i heard from AmonAmarth. and now i have their discography. its been a week now and theres something i can say about this band - words cannot express what this band makes amd feelings cant be felt on hearing their sounds. heart cannot relax when johan sings. soul trembles and then rises to the sun to bunr it down! the brain doesnt reason with itself when the song is comes as a whole package. what can i say!

+Clarissa Gomes Mastodon's Leviathan is one of the best concept and metal albums ever.
+Clarissa Gomes King Diamond's a good try if you're into concept albums - if you don't already know him. I think all of his records have an original story and stuff. He's "softer" than Amon Amarth though, more like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden and other bands from the late 70's/early 80's.

Decent. But I wish that they would do at least one more album that is more in the style of Once Sent From The Golden Hall or The Crusher. Just some straight up death metal.
I think my favorite has to be The Avenger. The guitar work on that album is like a fucking chainsaw,the riffs rip through everything. I actually quite liked the Fate of norns,too. That's not to say,that I don't endorse any of their other works,I love them all,they are one of my favourite bands,but yeah,next time they could come up with some brutal savagery regarding the mix and the riffs.
