    That NX-01 Refit is impressive to say the least. When Polar Lights first released that version in 1:1000 scale I was even more devastated that Season 5 never happened. Thanks for this video and showcasing all of these fantastic creations. I'm thrilled to hear that there were so many entries this year, and I hope to go to the event sometime in the future. I doubt I'll ever compete at the show as it's a long way from Canada and I doulbt any models I'd have would survive the trip.
    I've heard that there was some controversy with the judging this year, to be honest the last model show I went to was in 2019, and I was very displeased with some of the modelers at the event that it put me off ever competing again. I do agree with you, I think that these shows are really a fun way to nerd out with fellow modelers and just have a good time. I'll check out part 2 in the morning, I'm really excited to see more. Thanks again :)

    Hey Ken, I rarely comment but have to say your Fly Diorama was simply outstanding, followed the build throughout! I can only surmise that, with so many models this year, the judges had some form of judgment fatigue?? Great vid…love the channel…Thanks.👍

    Hello Ken, I just wanted to say thank you again for doing the interview on the NX-01 Refit. It was an amazing show with the Refit winning the special award for best Star Trek entry considering all of the artistry by so many talented builders. It was a pleasure meeting with you along with the many other guests attending Wonderfest 2023. G. Salerno. Starburst Models

    Thanks for some behind the model interviews. I do miss the interaction with other modelers. The creativeness does spread, and becomes addictive. Appreciate the look at some very fine work.

    Thank you for sharing, the video is awesome. Also thank you for using stills. Your Fly diorama is awesome. Awesome channel

    Ken you should have gotten at minimum a Silver if not a Gold for your Fly Diorama IMO. The amount of detail and work that went into that was amazing. The NX01 refit got a special award yet only got a merit award from the judges. The judging was certainly odd this year.

      Thanks Joe! I noticed that as well, very contradictory for sure! That’s why I don’t rely on it any longer, too subjective and random.

    I totally get you on how judging works: Aside from model building, I also enjoy costume contests. There was one competition I'd enter every year, and was clearly the fan favorite a few times. Nevertheless, I never finished first.

    Where is the videos showing modelers in the painting class painting their models ? it used to be great seeing people painting the various models.

    Hey! Great video. And thanks. Don't be too disappointed. I work on projects for years, and cost thousands, and never hve the opportunity to show them. No prizes. Just satisfaction. One thing......can you tell me more about those green light sabers? I used EL lights in a current project because I could not find a bright tube light that did not require an electrical connector at each end.

      @kenspriggs5687  Год назад

      I’ve used filament LEDs from Brickstuff dot com but they are pretty short at 38 mm. But they do require a wire connected at both ends. For my Asoka light saber I used a thin magnet wire and ran it back down the tube.

      Ken, I was referring to those 3 Starwars figures with green straight light sabers. As you know from your Fly diorama, the noodles have a wire out each end. What are these sabers? Any idea?

    • @kenspriggs5687
      @kenspriggs5687  Год назад +1

      @@richardstiers9010 they appear to be a similar rigid filament and also had a wire from the tip as well. I’m not sure what they used. RUclips has a lot of videos with ideas about creating light saber blades on models.
