Thanks for the tips!! Oil change went smoothly. I will warm up the gearbox next time so the oil flows better. I also found that if you turn the wheel a little, it helps distribute the oil better. Still have at least 10mL left. Thanks again!
Hey i just really wanted to thank you guys, I was able to do my first oil change. I don't think you understand how big of a deal this is for me as someone grew up without a father, who has zero knowledge of anything tool related someone who struggles to put up IKEA furniture.... when I saw I had to do this myself I was worried, so I went to the tool store today, I bought the tools I needed, and I was able to do it, it's all thanks to you guys and this great tutorial video. Much love, thanks a bunch.
Nice! We need more poeple willing to atleast try and do stuff like on their own. Its all just a learning process after youve looked into it enough to understand what you need to do.. Now its time to find more parts to replace and swap out with upgrades and let the fun begin! Lol
Its always good to work on your own bike i know how u feel i was raised by my grandparents when i was old enough my grandpa was to old to teach me but thank god for. RUclips and google fixing something new is scary but you got this you gotta say to yourself
Thank you guys. Super helpful video. Some additional info for those doing the same - 1.) It will take the full 90ml oil it came with. Like they said, if you lift the front of the bike it drains back into the gearbox and allows more in. Since I was solo and without a stand, I would fill to the top, then lift the front end of the bike allowing it to drain back to let me to add more. I had to repeat this quite a few times. 2.) Be careful with the two screws that hold the metal bottom bracket (the bracket that gives you a place to screw into the bottom of the plastic cover). Lot's of people (including me) have over torqued these and they'll snap right off, leaving them stuck inside. Use an allen wrench by hand and don't he-man it.
Great video! Pro tip, make sure to clean around dipstick (top) before opening. for that matter, clean the whole bike well, before opening that up, dirt can fall down from the seat area, right into the hole Don't want dirt or contamination in the gearbox.
if you leave the rear bolts on the bash guard and just swing it downwards you can have your oil pan hang off the bike what this allows you to do is roll it forwards and backwards a few times, which will rotate the gears and you'll see a bit more oil slush out, just guarantees you flush the entire system i also roll it forward and backwards a few times when im filling it or it doesn't accept the full 75-90ml
Thank you so much for this video! This is my first e-bike and I know NOTHING about them. I was able to do the first oil change in about 30 minutes thanks to you guys. Much love from Kansas City!!
On the drain bolt, heat is good, you can also take a rubber mallet and tap the end of your ratchet to create a "mini" impact effect on the bolt with the hand ratchet. Keeping your socket firmly and evenly on the bolt when tapping.
Thank you so much. This was so helpful. I utilized every bit of your tips to get the oil changed. I even had to go buy a blow torch to get off the oil bolt. I Should have watched which way you loosened the bolt. I was actually trying to tighten it at first. That was a mistake.. Thanks again!
@@Surge_Stream luna, i ordered mine on 04/18 and it will arrive 05/08. i think if you ordered after 04/21 it won't ship until the end of may / early june
Thanks for posting. I want to note that for me, the amount of oil in the tube was far more than needed for the gearbox. I could probably do two changes with what I was given.
MOST IMPORTANT: USE A HIGH END SOCKET OF EXACT SIZE. DO NOT USE A WRENCH. PREHEAT the area to help release the lock tight. You do not want to strip the bolt.
@@Talariaboys Thanks for the reply bros. I did the first oil change last night while watching the video! I do them on all my cars and at work on aircraft every day but would have been lost without your instructions.
Talaria getting the specs wrong in the beginning caused a lot of confusion. I carefully measure fluids I'm changing so I knew 87 ml came out and no way 150 was going back in. Hard to convince people to go against the factory specs. A single drive up car ramp shoved against the wall and a couple tie downs makes it very easy to raise the front of the bike by yourself.
You guys are the real I brought myself one of these bikes last spring I was thinking of a gas powered then I can cross your channel then I had my first electric bike well without peddles. lol
I can't remove my friggen drain bolt. How long did you guys heat yours for? And where exactly were you aiming the heat at? Ffs I'm done with this been trying for 3 days to remove it.
Why does it take the strength of Thor to get that bolt off when it’s only 25nm to tighten?! I ended up rounding my bolt!! Not only that 17mm isn’t even a tight fit on the wrench alsmot like they made up their own size Got plug off to see it’s M16 but 16mm didn’t fit and 17 was loose! I’m replacing it with permanent drain plug like all my bikes and cars to just hook a hose to and never worry about it again lol

True. I'd also say a 6 point socket as well, not a 12.
what’s the exact size?

17 metric

Do they use that same oil from the factory? Also is it more beneficial to get a better brand of oil or that wouldn’t matter?
The factory oil is break in oil and the oil you put in is a bit higher quality. No need to put really high end oil in.
Love the content, I just got my first e bike and I went with talaria sting r mx4. I want to get Street tires what do you guys recommend?
I bought new tires for Enduro tires shinko sr241 is what I got or the (sr244 Enduro tire more geared twords street riding)
For the oil drain bolt i used a breaker bar and tightened it a bit THEN loosened it, it then came off ez first time, no heat needed.
What is the link to buy the little torch pen, I need that to open up mine lol.
good idea with the lighter !

Yes, most machines hide oil within, best to measure what comes out!
I put 140ml back in buddy if u lift the front of the bike it lets more oil in
Ya, not good advise

i’m not using the same oil as you mine is in a 1 quart container, so how to i make sure i don’t over fill it.
Get a syringe and only use 80-90 ml
Any sources on the new update from Talaria I have been looking online and can't seem to find it
It has been so long I can’t find it. It was an official statement
Hey guys. I ordered 1L of 80W90 Hi - performance Hypoid Gear Oil it sas for Talaria Sting. Will this be ok to use also?
Should work fine 👍
Is everthing the same for the mx5?
Yes
Good video, keep it up
Have you ever had problems with the mx3 controller? I didn’t even get one charge and my bike threw all kinds of codes 😞
No it’s been fine.
do you need to do this for e ride pro
No
Does it come with oil from the factory
Yes
I assume it comes with the break in oil already in it?
Yes
They come with some kind fluid they call oil but worth getting that shite out of there sooner rather than later.

Is it the same thing on the xxx?
No the xxx has a belt drive instead of a gear box
Does this work for the talaria xxx to
the xxx does not require an oil change
we need a xxx oil change and some info asap!
Xxx doesn’t have a gearbox! It’s a belt drive so no need for oil changes.
Hey so when I went to add the gear oil, at least half way through it was already at the threads and the 2nd half went very slow.
Is that normal?
Yes

Amazon... Type in the specs and off you go

I got my talaria assembled by Luna cycle WHY TF they tightened the Alens so fucking much
You realize they don’t assemble most of the bike at Luna it’s only the front wheel, bar/stem and pegs. The factory makes everything tight.
