We were on vacation and had a misfire. My husband was able to watch your video and get us back on the road by replacing the plugs in a parking lot of an Autozone. Thank you!! You saved our family road trip!!

Watching these 3 videos allowed us to change the spark plugs on our 2013 Chrysler Town and Country. The video was done very well and we so appreciate being able to do this ourselves. Not only did it save us money, but it gave us an opportunity to tackle a BIG job, and as husband and wife team ~ we can say “WE DID IT”! Thank you, Dave for a job well done!

As the owner of a 2013 Town & Country with 215,000 miles and still running strong, I want to say a big “thank you” to David for doing such a great job putting out these videos. You’ve saved me a few bucks along the way and more importantly, a fair bit of time and frustration. These things aren’t as easy to work on as they used to be. Keep up the great work!

I watch a ton of your videos and others about my 2012 Grand Caravan. I have also watched videos of yours that have nothing to do with my van, you are an absolutely awesome guy for what you do on here. As well I'm have never seen anyone explain things as well from top to bottom as you do from how the small clips come off to torque specs for any bolt that needs them. Awesome job my man you should be an instructor for a school because you make this stuff interesting and way less scary then we make it out to be when we pop the hood on our vehicles. Thanks for all that you do.

Its awesome to get feedback like yours. Some days it feels like a chore but then I see messages like yours and it puts the pep back in my step. This morning has been aggravating due to audio issues while filming.....so this message helped to remind me why I make these videos. Glad that the filming and editing make a difference. I try to make it pleasing to the eyes and also to include as much info as possible because there is that one person that finds that I left something out......guess it keeps me evolving. I do want to say thanks again for watching all the videos and for taking your time to tell me about your experiences watching them. Try to enjoy the rest of your weekend

    • @armoricain

You're absolutely right, quietcorona33, MotorCity Mechanic's videos are awesome! Not only does he tell us what he is going to do, and how he is going to do it, but he SHOWS us what he is doing and how he is doing it! He is precise, accurate and thorough as opposed to some guys who tell us they worked on their cars --the work is already done-- and they just tell us what they did without showing us the actual work in progress in a video 2 1/2 lousy minutes long! We wasted our time, and we learned zip, zero, zilch! Now, I will feel more confident about replacing the spark plugs on my 2013 Town & Country, besides, I am familiar with having to remove the upper intake manifold to change spark plugs, I did it on my daughter's 2001 PT Cruiser, which was a cinch, however the Town & Country is much more involved, but now I feel much better about doing that job after watching his video.

    • @MotorCityMechanic

Love the feedback! That was awesome and a great way to end a weekend night of answering emails and replying back to comments. Its always great to hear feedback on the videos and hearing about how they help people. I try to include as much info as I can and that has made it harder and harder to film at work during the day because the videos take sooo long to film even though the repairs are quick. Once again thanks and make sure to subscribe if you havent already.....I assume you have from all the praise you have given the channel! Its greatly appreciated. Maybe one day this will be my full time job and I can do more indepth videos. Its a dream but still along ways off.

As someone who helps to make training videos for the military for a living, i have to give you HUGE props for making a well-spoken and explained, detailed, yet easy to follow and we'll-demonstrated video! My grandfather taught me how to take care of my cars and do a lot of DIY maintenance, so I'm comfortable working on cars. But I've heard nightmare stories about gaining access to the backside plugs in the Chrysler minivans and just never thought about trying it. The van actually belongs to my ex-wife - 2014 T&C - but she's in a financial bind and i want to help her out. They were quoting her almost $250 for a tuneup and $100/cylinder on the plugs and coil packs at the dealer she bought it from, and it's still under 100k miles. They also weren't very nice to her on the phone, so if i can do the work myself and save her some $, I'm willing. So thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm definitely a fan now and will subscribe and share!

I got out of the trade after 15 or so years, but still fix my own stuff because 1) I'm cheap, and 2) I don't trust anyone else to do as thorough a job as I do. After watching this video, I can see that you do take every single part as a necessity (e.g., not just cutting plastic wiring harness clips, etc). I was taught, and still follow the idea that EVERY part matters- the manufacturer would not have put it in there is they could have left it out and saved 1000s or millions of dollars. There is no such thing as "spare parts" or "leftovers." Thanks for the quality work and clear instruction!

Fantastic video ! Very well explained and executed , My son is Learning at a automotive Technology class at tech ,Funny story he brought the van dodge 3.6 into school to do the Thermostat which was sticking open the automotive teacher was out so he didn't get permission but the substitute who was not mechanically inclined said I'll stay with you if you can do it in an hour and a half before school lets out ,He did it by himself in under an hour He's going to take it in and do the spark plugs for me ..So proud of him.

Thanks a million buddy, my wife's van started a bad misfire 3 hours before a 6 hour drive that she had to make. watched your 3 videos, busted it out in about an hour and half. Would have been really tough without it. You show the perfect order of operations and great tips. Runs like new. BTW I just swapped all the plugs and coil packs while I was in there. #6 plug was the worst of them all but they were all worn pretty bad. Thank again~

Sure, I'll comment . David, I think you did a fantastic demo of a plug swap. I recently acquired one of these minivans and I wanted to see a plug swap to know what I was up against. It looks pretty easy and I'm glad for that. But from one southern brother to another, you had me chewing on my fingernails, leaving those ports wide open to drop something accidentally into the intake. I have done it before and it will bring you to tears. I cover them with shop towels now and it gives me peace of mind. It could ruin you day man.

Thank you very much for all your help--I've been an auto buff for 50+ years, mostly GM and Ford, specializing in rebuilding older Corvettes-never worked on any mopars--my daughters car is a VW routan with the 3.6l and I had to diagnose a coolant leak. Turned out to be the oil cooler(didn't even know they had one). Your videos were invaluable in the repair--watched probably a dozen of them. I especially appreciate you telling how to remove the electrical connections and giving the torque requirements on the bolts. Thanks again, keep up the good work! Jim

Great step by step! I snaked all bank 1 coil packs & plugs out without taking all the TB connections off except the MAF intake plenum. The coil pack under the TB is tricky but u can do it! Just prop the plenum up to grab the bank 2 coils & plugs out. I had misfires at 69k so replaced all the coils & plugs, plenum gaskets. Thanks for the tips in the video. Made life easy.

Awesome Video Series! A tip for those two 2 or 3 intake manifold bolts that you couldn't get before removal: after removing the manifold, you can back these other bolts back into the manifold by turning the manifold up-side-down and backing them in! This keeps them from catching on anything during installation!

Thank you very much David! We are in the middle of replacing a tapping rocker arm on a 2016 Dodge Caravan SE with a 3.6 VVT engine. Your videos help greatly but we could use a little more detail on removing that valve cover on bank 1. It has been a real booger. We can't see on that back side where clips or pins are located or whatever else might be holding us back from removing that valve cover. Btw, you are one of the clearest and easier people to understand on here. Thank you again!

Great video, however I had done mine twice before I watched this video. I also learned that for a spark plug or coil pack issue on #1,#3 or #5 cylinders, you only need to go as far as removing the throttle body to access those back cylinders. Also, those intake plenum gaskets, if they are in soft, pliable condition and not cracked can be re-used.

Sheer luck kept me from buying an intake because the power booster nipple broke off when I was twisting the hose loose. DAP rapidfuse glue saved the job.

Thank you so much for saving me $250. I love that you tell us what size of wrench is needed for each bolt and you also say the torque specifications. Thank you so much, now after saving $250 I can finally buy my kids the PlayStation PS/4 that the have been begging me for a year to buy it for them. I will tell my kids it's a present from you. 2012 RAM C/V ... No kidding: watched your videos this AM - this afternoon changed out the plugs w/o trouble. You video(s) were a great confidence builder ... I took notes its about 20 steps ... But because I tipped the intake upside down and sideways, changed the throttle body plate so took a while to figure it out and get the idle reset ... I recommend when the intake is removed to keep the intake horizontal to the ground thru take-out and install. Thanks so much. est $240 with my helper $120 and three hours.

Thanks for the time and effort to make these detailed videos. Have a 2013 Town and Country 3.6L that has 186,000 mi; STILL runs smooth, but gas mileage is down.
Going to change the plugs, I bought the Mopar plugs, but a lot of kits sell the (6) plugs with (6) Intake Plenum seals / gaskets.
Should those plenum gaskets be replaced at the same time ? Probably a good idea to replace the (6) Ignition coils at the same time, too, I’d guess ??
