Trev was paid very well at NU and earned a lot of respect for his work. But how he left may be worse than why he left and he fire bombed the bridge to his past behind him which is what Huskers will remember the most. As Warren Buffett famously once said: "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it."
Imagine being a Nebraska fan? A program that was so successful and respected 30 years ago and now you’re not even group of 5 level. I never thought I’d feel bad for people in Lincoln but I have for nearly a decade now. Crazy
As a lifelong Husker fan this definitely feels like a betrayal regardless of what truly was happening behind the scenes with the Board of Regents. Matt Rhule is vacationing in Scotland, students are out for spring break, and our Athletic Director that got a 8 year contract extension bails on his Alma Mater. Is working with regents and people behind the scenes? Absolutely. Giving up to go to another struggling program though is incredibly stupid.
I do not see what you mean by another struggling program. Nebraska isn't struggling in anything except football that I know of and that's turning around I believe. Neb. evidently has plenty of money. Plus A&M is in a fairy tale position as far as location, recruiting and money is concerned. So how are Neb. or A&M struggling programs?
Trev has his marching orders, bring Texas A&M to the B1G. He can easily convince their leadership that they will generate more revenue for sports AND academics in the B1G, so they will be taken more serious for academics. Plus it's a way to break ties from Texas, who they dislike, and the SEC, who backstabbed them. Texas A&M would be the only B1G team in Texas, playing a national schedule, in all the most populated regions of the country. Their national exposure would increase, just like their brand.
I believe you may be right! As an Arkansas fan I really don't care whether A&M leaves but as a lifelong fan of Tom O. and the Huskers, i hate it for ya'll losing Trev. It's kind of a shock even for non Husker fans that he'd leave. Growing up I would never miss the Neb. OU game. I hope Husker football comes back. Losing A&M might temper some of the SEC arrogance that seems to permeate the conference by losing a valued member to the prime competition. It will be interesting for sure.
I hope this isn't the beginning of an absolute disaster for Cornhusker athletics. We were/are finally on the rise in many sports and this move by Alberts one of our own is shocking.
I had no animosity for Trev prior to this. Leaving like this is inexcusable. He quit instead of trying to work out whatever problems were occurring. I never want to see or hear from him again.
He saw the fight it would take to get the stadium project done and quit. It is on him. The board of regents have a job to do and it isn't to bow down to every athletic department need. This was going to be a fight, but when the wind got in Alberts' face, he ran.
@@MikeyMike-fb5hx the board of regents have been a stain on the university for 20 years. Rich fans who support the wealthy regents need to grow thick skin because the people are furious at them ..remove them before they finish destroying the program.
