Interesting. Marsalis is an interesting guy. Says a lot of interesting things. I do not find a lot of the jazz he plays to be all that interesting. Miles went through something in the 70's that may or may not have taken something from him spiritually - maybe. But at the very least, he made a lot of music worth listening to. "Jack Johnson," "Big Fun" and "On The Corner" are three albums from the early 70's I find endlessly fascinating. I am not endlessly fascinated by anything Marsalis has been on, though I will say that his "Live At Blues Alley" from the 80's is a record that everyone should give a listen to.

I don’t agree with Wynton all the time, but I respect his conviction

    No dream deferred there. Awesome.

Inspirational. A dream defered can cause depression and other mental problems. Langston Hughes put it this way:
What happens to a dream deferred?
    Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
    Or fester like a sore--
    And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
    Or crust and sugar over--
    like a syrupy sweet?
    Maybe it just sags
    like a heavy load.
    Or does it explode?
    -- Langston Hughes

Its very unfortunate to hear Wynton criticizing Miles who he's never held a candle to. Sad .
