the part where they didnt give translations was bcoz he was making vocal runs. just like English theory has "do re mi fa so la ti do"....we have "sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa", and every note he sings is accurately on the right note as designated and he is playing with them through something in south asian classical music called raags which have fixed rules about some note placements

This is an adaptation of a poem written by Amir Khusro in the 14th Century. He was a Sufi poet and wrote this about his spiritual master, Nizamuddin Aulia. In Sufi poetry the soul is often referred to as "the bride" and the master and God as "the beloved". So a devotional song becomes a love song of the soul longing for the Beloved.

At the 12:30 Mark what he is doing is singing musical notes (much like do re me fa so) in a certain combination. So it's a technique in Qawwali music where he sings the note at the tone it is supposed to be when he says it.

The author of the lyrics, Amir Khusro, refers to himself in the 3rd person in his poetry. This was common in Sufi poetry and you will see this in the poems of Bulleh Shah (which have also become the lyrics of Qawwali songs).

So I just wanted to point out that some songs in coke studio are made from Sufi poetry(it is kind of a spiritual poetry). The poetry is heavily metaphorical and may confuse you if they are talking about a person(loved one) or Religion/Prophets/God. It’s very open to interpretation. Also since most of it is written by spiritualists it is actually referred to the divine.
Also Khusro and Nizammudin auliya were both famous Muslim spiritualists.

Thank you. I wanted someone to tell him about the unique features of Sufi, Gazal and Kawalis music.
Sufi music is so powerful! The depth of the lyrics lets one relate the depths, to ANYTHING one relates to and ponder on. ❤️
Urdu is such a beautiful language! Though I do not know the language completely, what I listen in the form of music always hit me proper.
Such beauty of the words and pronunciations! 👌🏻

@@LisAbe Your welcome! Urdu is a hard language and even the layman urdu speaker cannot understand its poetry fully. You really need to have interest to interpret and the background of the written piece to get the layered meaning behind it.
Often the language used is not the problem. I know from school that the ghazal written with the easiest vocabulary were the hardest to paraphrase. Haha😅
