That 'No' Henry screams after killing Zod is amazingly bone chilling. You feel like you're actually watching superman kill Zod. It's so convincing with emotion pouring out of his performance, they made a great decision casting Henry Cavill he portrayed superman beautifully.
Those people could not run away the rubble stopped them. Plus no jail or even a way to restrain him. It makes no sense that he could have another option even.
Miguel de Lima both of them were on the same level in terms of pure strength it would’ve been a constant stalemate which wouldn’t budge Zod and eventually allow him to kill the family
@@runefaustblack Zod was only going to get stronger as he adapted to Earth's atmosphere. He was relentless and was never going to stop - he had to die!!!
It's as the narrator says. The movie was well received at first but over the time, people have started nitpicking, especially after the string of criticall acclaimed Marvel movies people tend to feel that every superhero movie must be like MCU. They forget that MCU heroes and DC heroes are very different in their origins and powers.
Best DCEU movie imo. Man Of Steel=6/10 - Great movie, but could of been a lot shorter. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice=5/10 - Great in terms of realism, but quite boring Suicide Squad=2/10 - *bleugh* Wonder Woman=4/10 - 1st act was okay, rest wasn't that great Justice League=3/10 - Bad CG, horrible plot. Still some good aspects.
My only problems are maybe too many special effects(Pa's death), too much grey in the visuals for the Bright Blue Boyscoutt, Zod's acting was kinda all over the place despite having well written motivations, and while Lois plays a much more vital role it's not with any charm that stands out. I like this film, but it's not flawless
I never noticed the so called "disregard for human life and property damage" until it was pointed out, I recently rewatched this movie and... its not true. He smashes a few buildings sure but a lot of it is him being thrown into them. It makes sense, its his first fight, he hasnt thought it through like an older Superman would. He just gets mad for a minute and they end up in a town. Also... he never had a disregard for human life. He saves the copter, he saves the guy with the knife from Faora, sorry, dont remember his name, he helps the military and akes friends with them right after. Even the final battle is him protecting humans resulting in his first kill. Cavills delivery of "You think you can threaten my mother?!" was one of his best Superman moments. An alien from another world is protecting him mother and flies into a rage because someone hurt her. Thats relateable, thats Superman. Hes human deep down.
Wish they showed that more with him stopping in the fight to try to save people other than just Lois or his mother. I can understand here where he's able to save her because he's(mainly)in the same place constantly. However, theres like sixteen times he saves her alone(including in BVS, where she's across the world in that warzone and then after he quit being Superman because Luthors dumb plan to make him look bad made him sad, lol.) I don't mean he has to be smiling all the time as he saves people or save cats from trees onscreen, but we need to see that he ENJOYS doing this. That he LIKES helping people and its not just an obligation. His own adoptive father in this version is all "let people die if you need to!"that it makes me wonder if Cavills Superman even has enough humanity. Comparing Cavills and Reeve, we have very little interaction between Clark and his mother(the scene where she talks him down when his powers are going off, when when he returns after he found the Fortress(er, ship?)of Solitude and her telling him "you don't owe anyone anything"in BVS. In the interactions between Martha of Reeve's film and John of Reeves film, it's got a little bit of angst(when he leaves to find the Fortress is a big angst moment, as well as his adoptive father dying and him being totally unable to save him(unlike this version, where he CHOOSES not to save him), but in their short time with Reeve's version of Clark, we see their connection and why he eventually decides to reveal himself to the world. He even says to his fathers image that it feels good to save people. Cheesy though Reeve's may be by todays standards, he showed more of a love of humanity than Cavill's ever does. Cavill's seems to be so sad being a lonely god that his only loved ones are Lois and "MARTTTTHHHHAAAA!" But I guess thats because he's supposed to turn "Injustice"in JL. Even Whedons JL can't reverse Cavills downward spiral to make him likable when his characterization was already plummeting down the drain. Snyder tries to handwave that Superman SAYS he loves humanity when he says it to Lois before he kills himself on that ugly non Doomsday clones spikes, but you have to SHOW it or you simply have a mopey jerk we can't empathize with.
@@phousefilms Why does the film have to spoonfeed you the notion that he enjoys saving people? Why is it wrong that he feels obligated? If you read the comics from the 80's, 90's, and now, Superman seldom directly shows joy when saving someone. It is just what he does and the writers understand that we don't need to be spoonfed a feel good notion that it is his favorite hobby.
@@phousefilms “But we need to see that he ENJOYS doing this. That he LIKES helping people and it’s not just an obligation.” Bruh would you like trying to like protecting Humanity but all they do is criticize you for doing literally anything and some want you dead, would he still show that he loves protecting Humanity and not treat it as just an obligation?
When you read the Man of Steel novel it gives you a better idea of why Johnathan Kent sacrificed himself. He literally died to protect his son, which any good parent would do for their child. He had the same fears as Martha did later in the film, that they would try to take their child from them. It's sad but also beautiful. As a parent myself I wouldn't think twice about protecting my kids even if death was certain. It's a very poignant scene.
@@bromodragone8405 I think that's the main thing folks forget that this movie is how Clark becomes the Superman we know. He's not "Superman" honestly until BvS, even though they gave him the name in MoS. He's just Clark maybe 24-48 hours into hero mode with a Kryptonian suit on.
@@bromodragone8405 And that inspired Clark to be the hero we all know and love seeing his dad save all of them people and their dog without any superhero powers from a tornado His father was already a hero before he officially became Superman
he recycles a lot of his scores...egregiously. Giacchino at least has points for originality. Also Zimmer is sometimes good, but he's nowhere close to the likes of John Williams or Joe Hisaishi.
I LOVED the level of destruction in Man of Steel, I really don't understand the hate in generated. We're talking about two godlike beings battling on our fragile little planet, I think anything less would be hugely unrealistic and I think attempting to avoid it, attempting to have supposedly godlike beings fight in a way that does little to no damage, is part of what makes many of the fights in previous films feel so goofy.
they seem to think that superman is smart enough to lure zod to somewhere else where there are no humans but they seem to forget that zod is alot smarter with tactics so if one of them is going lure other somewhere its going to be zod
@@barrylyndon5552 except Zod clearly said he was going to kill everyone he can, the androids Goku lured to the arctic, for example, were specifically after him
@@villekuronen6242 To be fair, Superman is one of the smartest superheroes in the DC universe (considering he can think at super speeds), but I'm with you in that Zod had the upper hand in terms of tactics and military strategy.
Now, for imitator-ception, have all the other imitations of CinemaSins (Brand Sins, PokeSins, WWE Sins et al) have "Win" versions of it. I will bet my hat on it that that happens.
"They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun". This speech fits perfectly with this movie and the people. Today they criticize it, but tomorrow they will realise how wonderful it is.
this is one of those movies that are divisive and controversial at first but after two or three decades becomes cult classic like American psycho, Fight club, The Shining and so on. I'm not saying it's on that level but...
@@zedgovos4914 just bear in mind before reading this that I am a lifelong Superman fan who has read the comics since I was basically a foetus, so here goes 😂. The character shown in Man of Steel bares practically no resemblance to the true Man of Steel. He is distant, moody and acts as though he were a god, uncaring for the mortals around him. This isn't Superman. He shows none of the care, compassion and charm that Superman shows. He's not someone we can look up to. The real Superman wouldn't destroy blocks and blocks of a city and all of Downtown Smallville, putting millions of innocent lives at risk, he would take the fight elsewhere. Superman does not care about the greater good, Superman cares about the individual, if one innocent life was ended, in his eyes, he has failed. The character in Man of Steel shows no such care. He doesn't seem to care about that much on Earth besides Lois Lane and his mom, which makes us wonder why he is bothering to save it really, when he could just save those two people. Superman has lots of things he should love about Earth, it's as much his home as it is ours. The character in this snaps Zod's neck without REALLY trying anything, sure there was the human family under threat, but was there really nothing else he could do? Superman does not trade lives, there is ALWAYS another way. Superman is a symbol for truth, justice and the American way. He represents the pinnacle of what someone should be, someone willing always to give, to do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do, to save everyone, no matter the personal cost to himself, no matter whether they are good or evil. Superman is something we should all aspire to be, but the character shown to us in this movie covers little to nothing of what I have talked about. For some reason, Zack Snyder decided to make Superman dark and edgy, when that's not who he is. And even as a starry-eyed, easily impressed child back in 2013 when I went to see this film in the cinema, I looked up at the screen and thought "This is not Superman" (or words to that effect). My problem with this character is that it is character assassination at it's most blatant. It simply isn't Superman.
Lois knowing he's superman from the beginning actually makes more sense than not. It shows they have more of a connection and it gets rid of all the "how can she not tell he's superman just because of glasses" questions.
she cant tell because Clark is suppose to act different when he is Clark then when he is Superman . thats how the comic book is thats why she doesnt figure out fast or the rest
@@chriscastrofilmfashion lol that's sounds realistic. My wife could put a bag over her head and speak in a gravelly voice and I would still know its her
It's not perfect. I like it, but could rattle off a list of flaws pretty quickly. You can also do that with all but the best films ever created. People are also just funny and pretentious with their tastes.
"YOU THINK YOU CAN THREATEN MY MOTHER?!?!?!" One of the greatest scenes in movie history. It showed just how savage Superman could be when he was angry.
Yet, if he only had half a brain, he could have saved his entire species simply for, you know, terraforming not earth but a place like mars for instance, and agreeing to help superman, etc... Literally, almost everything he did caused more trouble for him than it was worth - when 80% of it wasn't even needed to get what he wanted.
+My names Jeff Captain America (1990), Fant4stic, Ghost Rider, Batman and Robin are all "shit" movies. BVS and MOS were respectable to their characters and tried to tell a story. Both Marvel and DC are great but they have their ups and downs. It is the FANBOYS who come and ruin it by taking one information and using it insult a company. You obviously did not understand what this video was trying to convey. MoS would not be a "shit" movie if it got stuff right. Snyder brought Krypton, Superman, superhuman hand to hand combats, etc. to the big screen. There were reason to why some events happened in the film. Same with BVS. Both these movies are heavily flawed but that doesn't make them shit. It still has its pros.
This is exactly why I loved MoS. It's a movie about Clark's early phase of being Superman. Not the full phase. He was still learning how to be a superhero, and that's what people don't get. He made mistakes, yes. But that's because he was still new to the game. I also hear people saying Cavill's Superman doesn't save people. But that's exactly what he did in MoS and BvS mulitple times. As for the villain, still the best one out of all the DCEU films. Because Zod actually had a legit purpose as the video stated. MoS is still my number one DCEU film for now.
This movie is so underrated and I believe if it was released a little later, it would've been more loved by even critics. For sure the best Superman movie in my eyes.
I just realized that a lot of the people who got mad that Supes killed Zod are the same ppl who would get mad when heroes don’t kill the villain because the villain comes back to kill more ppl later
No, the reason people don't like it is similar to why people don't like the "Martha" scene in BvS. It's not that the thing happened, but _how_ it happened that people don't like. We all knew Batman and Superman would stop fighting, but how it gets to that point is so contrived that it highlights how poorly written most comic book characters are. What are the chances that both our heroes had a mother with the same name? One that sounds lazily like mother? Like I said before, it's a similar problem here. We know Zod is probably going to die, because that's what happens to villains in superhero _movies_ , but after we've spent the last half an hour watching them demolish most of a populated city it comes down to the most anti-climactic neck snap to save a bunch of people we've never seen before, and never see again. Good job Supes, at least that one family got out.
Probably because murder isnt in supermans character. Supes vs the elite had a similar premise; superman saved the villain and he escaped and murdered some more people. It was a heated argument and most people came down on the Elites side and said some villains had to die. But superman stuck to his guns and almost died fighting to not have to kill people. This movie seems to ignore that dogged belief of his. Not entirely wrong but alot of fans feel like it isnt in character; even the fans that thought it was very dumb thought it was still a part of supermans character which has been changed.
Superman (1978): Time Travel Ending Superman II: That S Symbol Superman III: Richard Pryor Superman IV: Everything Superman Returns: Boring So yeah Man of Steel is the best
The score to this film was beyond epic. Zimmer's best work IMO. Yes, the movie is loud and hard to play full out at home w/o DRC enabled to some degree, but wow. When the full weight of sound is allowed to roar it's absolutely insane.
"NOOOOO THEY DESTROY THE BUILDIIINGS!", yeah and Superman does that ALL the time in comics and especially in the Justice League Unlimited. They don't even try to take the fight outside the city in animations. And superman smashes Dark Seid through 3 buildings, without even making sure is there people inside of it... The critique really falls flat on these films when you really take a look at it closely.
They're DragonBallZ fanboys. They seriously think a villain like Zod or Darkseid gives a fuck where they fight. They're not morons like Vegeta who goes outside the city because "I wunt to fight you at full powah wit nuthin else in de wey!"
How could you leave out Chris Melloni facing off with Feora until he was left with just a knife? They she says something like, for a warrior, death is it's own reward, then that's called back later. And I know you touched on this, but just before the final fight, Zod giving his speech about the sole purpose of his existence is to protect his people, and now he has no people. Such a great movie.
"A good death is it's own reward." It gives me goosebumps everytime I watch this movie and hear Chris Melloni say that line. An honorable warrior to the end.
The anti-bullying message applies to anyone who is mentally different, for starters. When I was younger, my mother showed me this movie to show me that I wasn’t the only one that struggled with sensory overload. I and many people with ADHD and/or Autism are hypersensitive to various input. For me, it’s noises and touch. For Clark, it was hearing and seeing absolutely everything. That scene with Clark in the closet trying to collect himself? I’ve done that. I didn’t heat vision the door, but you get my point. I was often singled out because I was an easy bully target. I reacted strongly and loudly. I now realize that many of them were probably just teasing me a bit, but because I process information differently than most, I took it the wrong way. That led to the bullying more than anything, I think. Because Clark is an alien, he thinks and reacts differently, too.
Yep I feel it. They thought I had ADHD when I was younger but later I was put on the autism spectrum (high functioning) and yeah sensory overload sucks big time
7:06 not to mention Supes made the only choice readily available to him. Ghost dad said himself that Zod wouldn't stop and Zod himself said it and proved it, it doesn't matter if Supes beats him here he'll just get up and keep trying to kill everyone. If it wasn't these humans it was gonna be the next group and Zod really is trying to kill everyone around him. Plus the only reason Supes is winning right now is he's spent so much longer under the effects of the yellow sun which gives him the power advantage over Zod that is just enough to get him the win Supes is stronger but Zod is a born and bred warrior he's practically mastered his powers just by seeing what Supes can do. And being under the yellow rays of the sun would let him grow just as strong. There really was no other outcome. I know the add doesn't like killing and as much as it hate Supes to do it this was the right move
People seem to forget the Superman from the comics (Man of Steel, the modern comic version that started in the 80s and is probably the most iconic of all of them these days), killed Zod too. Zod told him that he would "not stop until billions were dead." Did Superman break is neck? Nope, he poisoned him to death with Krytponite. This started Superman on a journey of discovery that led him to becoming Superman.
Maybe. Although Batman has his one rule, no killing no matter what. If Zod had killed these people that would be on Zods hands, Superman knows it can be a slipper slope between killing a murderous alien, killing a murderous human, killing a potentially murderous human, killing those that would stop him from his own version of Justice, becoming Zod. He is a hyper powered alien, he knows clinging to some extremely important rules may be what allows his mind to remain human.
Van B. There was a young boy, maybe 5 or so, a few rows ahead of me the 3rd time I saw this in theaters. He jumped out of his chair and cheered when Supes destroyed the World Engine. Initially, I thought that scene was "just" good but after seeing the boy's reaction, it became one of my favorites.
Ok, you missed 2 obvious wins. "A good death is it's own reward" for bad ass good guy looking death in the face and still drawing his knife, and "A good death is it's own reward" call back/self sacrifice.
To the detractors of the dispatching of Zod scene: Did it ever occur to you that it's possible that moment is the reason why Superman vows not to kill anyone if he can help it? It's the catalyst for his no-kill rule later.
except Superman doesnt have an ironclad "no kill rule" thats the Batman shtick as Bruce unlike Clark is unhinged madman being held together by the last shred of morality he has, if Bats kills, he will never stop whereas Superman simply avoids taking life when possible but if he had to choose between killing a villain or sacrificing innocents, he would snap that neck without a doubt.
That's why people really don't like the DCEU. Some of the nitpicky stuff about the characters can and should change, but their core should remain the same. Maybe a Superman film as dark as Dark Knight Rises caused more controversy than it was worth.
That's how I interpreted it. This is the start of his journey so of course we are being shown why he believes what he believes and killing the second last Kryptonian would be a good catalyst not to kill again.
I always felt this was the case. His aversion from killing is due to him personally executing the only other known living kryptonian. We see he hates what he did immediately with that epic, agonizing scream. That would certainly impact his decisions moving forward. Also, Superman has killed in the comics and animated movies. He's killed Doomsday and scores of parademons, and that's not even counting the injustice storyline. He will totally kill if there's no other option.
Lol, that was such a dumb scene, I was shaking my head at it. Batman doesn't need to kill one person to know that it's wrong. Reeve's Superman neither. Nolan even wanted Zod locked in the Phantom Zone with the others, but Snyder said "No, we need to see where the rule comes from!" and probably tacked on an extra half hour to the movie for that final fight, lol. And seeing Supermans reaction is not the same as understanding how it feels for Superman, as Zod and Kal are antagonistic from the very beginning and this version of Kal does not have any humanity, any love shown to anyone other than his mother and Lois(who he saves constantly, compared to other people in the middle of the warzone created by his and Zods fight(and Zod needs the codex in Clarks head to recreate Krypton, so why the hell doesn't Superman just lead him away after he destroys the planet cracker in the uninhabited area? Lol.) Unfortunately this version was before the "Earth One"Superman comic came out with Zod, where Superman is approached by Zod and was still early in his career,. Zod portrays himself as another surviving Kryptonian, befriends him and offers to teach him, only to reveal later that he spitefully joined an enemy race that warred with Krypton when he was removed from his position of power as a general. He gave this race the means to destroy Krypton by destabilizing the planets core and he only wanted to make all other Kryptonians extinct. To have the two as allies or friends would be better than just rushing forward with the "I hate you and we have the same powers!" schtick that most superhero movies do.
The thing about the destruction and killing. I see it this way. He has to do these things first to get to the point where he doesn't want to/refuses to. We have to get a little bad before we get the good. Which is why in BvS hes not nearly as destructive. I also aeriously love Cavill as Superman/Clark. He fits the role so damn well
This movie is so underrated. Now I'm a 2000s generation and I've seen almost all of the old school "classic" superman movies and superman returns as well. And I don't care what anyone says, this is by far the best superman origin movie there's ever been.
I feel like one of the major themes of this movie is that while you should always strive to do the right thing, that’s not always the convenient or obvious or easy thing. That’s first highlighted when pa Kent talks about the bus. He wasn’t saying “yeah let the fckers drown!” (Like some people think for some reason) he was saying he doesn’t know. Because there is no right way to answer that. He’s not omnipotent. He’s just a father trying to keep his son safe. Same goes for his death. It was to highlight that what he thought was the right thing wasn’t the easy thing. And it culminates with the final zod scene. Snyder deliberately placed Superman in a situation where either he had to kill Zod to save humanity, or not kill him and doom earth. There was no convenient third option, no prison could hold zod and kryptonite wasn’t a thing yet. Superman chose to end zod and he wasn’t proud of it. He made the decision he thought was right, but it cost him. Like any hard decision should.
Not only does this channel have positivity, it's one of the few that actually understands what the creators are going for. DC are doing the exact opposite of making cookie cutter movies
I don't Care what anyone says, 6 years in Man of Steel is a Great Movie. Fight me. Every time I watch this Video and get to 05:15 I wanna go Back and Re-watch the movie.
I don't think it's a masterpiece, I think the way it tells Clark's childhood through flashbacks is messy and unnecessary, I think that the villain is boring, I think that Lois Lane is a bit irritating but worst of all I think Clark/superman misses the point so much it hurts This is my opinion you can disagree
Jimmy DcRiket I initially didn’t like Man of Steel much but I have to say it has grown into one of my favorite DCEU films. Zod was perhaps the best villain in the DCEU by far who had a deep personal relation with Clark and you really sympathized with him when need be. It makes the final battle being character-driven all the better. Lois Lane was possibly my favorite itsration of Lois ever who didn’t constantly scream in a shrill voice or acted as a liability for Superman but was rather an independent character in her own right. Clark and Superman weren’t the Superman we all know and love *yet* because that was part of the character arc. “ They will race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But, in time, they will join you in the sun. “ Superman was a man who was thrust into an alien world and who was unsure of his place in the world. But he would eventually grow into the Beacon of Hope we all know and love by the end of Zack’s quintology. He wasn’t misunderstood or missed the point at all. Rather it was just not the Superman we know *yet.* Man of Steel also had the richest and most fascinating world-building of any CBM of recent times. The way they explored Krypton’s lore and added to the intrigue was awesome.
Gosh, I love this movie with a passion. Among all the criticisms it faced, the one that bothered me the most was that it was supposedly dark and gritty, but it wasn't. Dark and Gritty would be the Nolan Batman Trilogy, the Daredevil show, the Punisher movies, the Blade films, Ghost Rider, The Crow (they even explore incest), and the first three seasons of Arrow. MOS was just dramatic and serious, that's all. One could argue that the world in which Superman exists (both here and in the follow-up) is dark, but that's nothing new at all...
This movie really is underrated. People hate on this movie because it’s DCEU. I’m a huge Marcel Fan and I love their movies with being lighthearted comedic etc but I also love DC’s path with more realistic with its death toll and loss and powerful emotion and all and I appreciate that. Not everything is a happy ending. Heroes win? Yes. People die and there’s mass destruction? Yes. Amazing Superman movie
I think its a really good movie, too, but as a comic book fan I have some problems - mostly him letting Pa Kent die and killing Zod. What you have to realize about both of them is simply that the writers and directors CREATED those situations. They DECIDED the movie would go that way. The thing about there being no way to stop Zod and his army of Kryptonians? Sure there is - you toss them back into the Phantom Zone. They could have easily given Supes a McGuffin to do that, but decided NOT TO! Would it have required them to change the story? Yes. Absolutely. But THEY COULD HAVE, and chose not to! Saying that Supes had no choice but to do what he did assumes that this isn't a story, and that the writers didn't have complete control over what happened in it, which is patently absurd. These aren't real life events! The writers and director CHOSE to have the climax of the story be Superman killing Zod! As far as dramatic moments goes, it was excellent! As far as staying to true to Supes' boy scout code of honor? Not so much. Incredible movie. Poor decision for the finale. Anyone arguing against that because they liked it gets to have their opinion, of course, but simply saying that it couldn't have ended any other way, as I see so many people do, is silly.
If you really want to understand this movie, read Superman Earth One. It focuses more on Clark and Jonathan, than Clark/Jonathan/Jor, but the plot is basically 75% the same
Cobalt Falcon Thank you!... I've been saying that since the movie came out, this movie is basically based on that run and it's probably my personal favourite take on Supes, I'm not a big reader of him largely just because he's usually depicted as more a "walking concept of ultimate power and good" rather than an actual character with personality, but that run was excellent imo. And yeah, Snyder loved Smallville... there's a few in there, the bald Kryptonian played an old Lex clone, and the guy from Galactica played Dr Emil Hamilton... so he's standing next to himself in a few scenes XD I'd have to look up if there's any others.
***** - I agree! "Emergency Awesome" is a great positive channel. Charlie is, well....awesome! LOL. That's what I like. Positive channels and RUclipsr who like to enjoy things and look for the good in things.
Bnadit Yeah a win for that airplane scene for the badassery of everyone trying to make sure the plane gets to its destination even if they had to exchange their lives for it would have been nice
Just the fact that this channel is a play on Cinema Sins makes me happy. And I can't stop loving this movie. I knew that as time went on more and more people would wake up and realize that this is the best superman movie to date.
I used to follow the crowd and hate on this movie when it came out. Superman is my favorite character after all. I seen it again recently, didn't realize how good it was seeing it again. When I was in the theater seeing it for the first time was forcing myself to hate it because Redlettermedia and other critics told me so. shameful how groupthink is.
I had no problem with Superman breaking Zod's neck, and I had no trouble with Batman killing people in Batman v. Superman. Not because I'm a sociopath, (although, I am a high functioning sociopath) but because I don't see how it could logically be avoided.
THANK YOU! All the things you say in this video are what I've been saying about Man of Steel since it came out - especially about this being Clark's first fight. The film goes out of its way to show us that he's never thrown a punch before - imo that's half the point of the bullying scene - so I really hate that people compare the Metropolis fight to the big fight in Avengers. Everyone in that fight scene has combat experience. Oh, and they have a team. Iron Man's entire job in that fight is keeping the conflict within a small perimeter. Supes has no one to back him up, no combat experience, no field awareness, no real idea of how strong he is b/c he's never pushed his limits before. Tbh, we should be clapping that he didn't break his fist the first time he punched a Kyrptonian.
1. Zack Snyder’s Superman Man of steel is and was epic, one of the best movies of all time, a very detailed, potent, in-depth look for the beginning of any superhero especially Superman; I have to give it up for the director Zack Snyder, the writers, and the producers, because it is very hard to write a story line, to direct and produce a movie for a character like Superman with Godlike powers, the first question is what kind of story can you have for a being like that. 2. Man of Steel was very realistic very grounded and reality-based, the biggest issue that people had with this film was the distraction of the city, but if this was to actually happen in our world yes it would be no holds bar of destruction; this movie had no red tape’s in groundedness and realism as to what could actually happen and most likely would. 3. Compared to any other Superman movie 🎥 this would be considered rated R. This was a Superman movie the world was not ready for but need, unfortunately moviegoers are still in tuned and corrupted with a Disney tone boring family like movie where nobody dies or gets mortally wounded [director Joss Whedon], moviegoers are still adopted to superman saving a fucking cat out of a tree
I absolutely love the part when he says: "YOU THINK YOU CAN THREATEN MY MOTHER?" It shows how the MAN stands out from the SUPER, because that's what makes him interesting, the Superman is still super, but he is man too
+Intense Gaming Exactly! He is bitching about how nothing in BvS makes sense, but does not speak about the plot holes in CW. Joe thinks Ant Man makes more sense than BvS, he has become an idiot. Not the Joe I subscribed to...
+Sabyasachi Mukherjee I fucking love Man of Steel and really like BvS! :D Joe is a bit too harsh on the new film, but whatever man, I'm psyched for the next movies :)
Two comments about the city-destroying fight. First, as you said, this Superman is new to the gig, no experience under his belt, never learned to minimize collateral damage. He hasn't even really developed a code yet. And the original plan was for the events of this movie to be what motivates him to develop his code in/for the sequel. Secondly, people bitch that he should have taken the fight somewhere else, and to that I say "pfft, yeah, good luck with that". Zod was intent on destroying humans, why would he care where they fought? He'd _want_ to stay in the city. He'd have no reason to go somewhere with no people around, and every reason to stay, knowing that killing more humans would cause Superman more pain. Even if Superman could force Zod away, Zod would just go right back to the city. On top of that, there were other Kryptonians attacking the city anyways, that Supes wouldn't have been able to intervene with if necessary.
All the characters in this were designed to perfection. The characters in BvS are kinda shit, Ben's Batman was good and the new take on Alfred was cool as well. But what the fuck was that Lex Luthor???? He is supposed to be like an evil Bruce Wayne, not some psychopath like he was depicted. And who was this Wonder Woman? Just thrown in there, didn't add to the story, no explanation..... Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie until the whole Doomsday part started. The fights were cool but that's about it.....
He wasn't that good at playing the character. Bruce Wayne is lighthearted, party loving, womanizing playboy. Ben Affleck just carried on the Batman personal throughout all his identities which did ruin it
nope go and read DARK KNIGHT RETURNS,DEATH IN THE FAMILY at this timeline jason todd(the second robin) is dead which frustates batman and he blames himself for that and thus he becomes ruthless I THINK YOU ARE TRYING TO COMPARE BEN AFFLECK TO CHRISTOPHER NOLAN VERSION ,PLEASE THAT VERSION IS DIFFERENT THAT IS NOT INSPIRED BY THE COMICS THIS BATMAN IS JUST RIPPED OUT OF NEW 52 VERSION AND THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS VERSION DAMMIT
i know that movie is not perfectly paced but it did happen in the comic and in the movie jason was killed ten years ago by joker before dawn of justice incident
I hate that people complain about the ‘Superman destroys too much stuff’ argument. They establish in a flashback that Clark has never been in a fight, Pa Kent pushed him to pacifism for everyone’s sake. Most the destruction was Zod throwing him into buildings. Kal was stronger, but Zod had better skill, so when he had him by the neck, that was his only chance to finish it.
Actually I believe that he held the movie together in the end. Most if not all of the hate BEFORE the release was on him. Most if not all of the praise wan on him afterwards. There are voices that say he was lame as Bruce Wayne, but I think he did a good job. And vice versa for Snyder. Can't wait to see him in standalone Batman film and in Justice League.
I will never understand why people say man of steel and batman v superman had no substance. To me they had far more substance than a majority of the mcu films. Sure it was done in an unconventional way but just because its different from most blockbusters and the comics doesn't mean its bad. Also, they don't spoonfeed you and leave things open for interpretation.
***** On the nose on that comment. I love how he made Lex Luther ( even if he is JR) into the Modern CEO or business man. "The red capes are coming. The red capes are coming." was a twisted from america's history that most didn't get.
***** Huh bad viewing instead of bad storytelling. Thats exactly what it is. But if you try to explain to these people what they missed they call you pretentious. They say that you're giving meaning that isn't there. They say that if the film was really deep it wouldn't need defending. I've had people tell me all three of those things. The last one doesn't even make sense. Any way, can't wait for suicide squad
I think the main reason people hated Jonathan's death was because at the time the May Oklahoma tornado happened and it was a little "controversial". People always trying to find reasons to hate for no reason.
He that suit was enjoyable especially in Arkahm Knight fucking loved it. It'd be nice to see a live version of that arkahm knight batsuit buit it'd have to be cgi any real life version that would be comfortable to move in would look janky as all hell
Seal Entertainment, Bruce Wayne did nothing to stop Zod and his armies. Further, Batman can't touch Doomsday. Funny thing is, he was just watching Superman and Wonder Woman fighting against Doomsday.
Ahhhh yes, I remember seeing this movie opening weekend. A friend called and asked if I wanted to see this and I was excited as he was but for slightly different reasons: he's a big comic fan while Supes is my favorite DC hero. Still, we went in excited and hopeful....... and we left excited, hopeful and happy. Supes never looked more badass yet still humble and heroic and even human, reminding me why he was and still is my favorite DC hero. The first flight, the fights, even Zod's death made me feel Kal's power yet his raw emotions made me see him with weaknesses I never saw before, so way to go Henry on the stellar job. We were discussing right through the credits and on the drive back like excited 5 yr olds. But I was shocked when I started hearing the haters including another friend that had serious hate for it, we had a back and forth argument over it and it's a rare thing we disagree on. I still love this movie, my view won't change and I'm sad to see Henry more then likely departing cause I never saw a more realistic Kal/Clark to this day and might never again. Henry Cavill is my Superman from now on and I hope he comes back.
I can honestly say that this is my favorite Superman film. Superman has always been far to OP and alien for me to care for or relate too. And while this Superman is obviously still OP they were able to humanize him and make him just a little more relatable than he was before. They made me care about the character which no other film Superman has ever done
I happened to stumble onto this thanks to a YT suggestion. I'm so glad. A couple of weeks ago I realized how sick I was about all the info out there being SO NEGATIVE. Sometimes negative is needed, but damn, what about positive? I think CS has gotten a little too self-important by pointing out every of the tiniest flaws as if each one alone is a reason you shouldn't watch the movie. There's not enough "Carla Gugino isn't my girlfriend in this scene" and too much "I don't like Zack Snyder and Imma spend 30 minutes breaking it down." I hear so much about people walking out of movies and demanding their money back. Really? Are you that bad at considering what movies to watch? Did the theater staffed mostly by people making minimum wage make you a guarantee that you'd like that movie? I personally have never done that. Maybe I'm really selective or just easy to please for a couple of hours. Hope to see you get more subs to prove that positivity has its place.
Thanks! I can't imagine walking out of a theater. Mostly because I have to know how things end, even in the worst movies and tv. I'm definitely easily entertained. But depending on the mood I can just as easily be entertained by Primer as Wet Hot American Summer. The only thing I have a hard time getting on board with are the parody comedy movies like Disaster Movie or Meet the Spartans. Although my wife and I did see the first Scary Movie in theaters. But I think they've degraded since then. Clearly there is an audience for everything though.
When Lois said to Clark "Welcome to the planet." Doesn't just mean to the Daily planet. It's foreshadowing humanity finally accepting Superman on the earth.
Here in 2020 and I still have to say this movie is the best superman movie, it was ahead of its time, Henry Cavill was the perfect role and well. That father scene can still bring down my barrier
i love how you pointed out that this version of Superman is a noob compared to Zod and his army. of course, Superman doesn't know his limits yet and he's now aware of how dangerous they are. and yes, Zod was outshined by Faora.
Absolutely love this film. It's more than a simple superhero movie, it's an awesome action/sci/fi film. Filled with depth, compelling characterizations and story, drama, visually stunning shots and the most jaw dropping action sequences I've seen. It's Zack Snyder's best work, along with Watchmen, and definitely the best movie in the dc universe to this day.
This movie is a perfect example of nostalgia ruining a good remake. The audience knows what this character is capable of, and a long history. When the character doesn't rise to that immediate level, they consider it "wrong". This movie really did make Superman seem like an evolving relatable hero. When he grew up, you kind of felt like you were growing up with him. When he first started flying, the audience felt like they were flying. It was told in a bit slow way, but the biggest issue with Superman has always been how some fans just can't relate to a "god" character. That's why Batman has always been popular. You can understand him better. The approach of slowly explaining why how Superman became who he is in his early stage, made this Superman feel more real. He wasn't a God pretending to be human and we just got to like him because he is the hero of the story. He was an outsider trying to fit into the world, and learning how to do the right thing.
I HATED Superman before this movie. He was a boring unkillable character. This movie made me interested in Superman again. I hated this character, now I want more. This movie was a masterpiece.
MooCowManHG some of them never picked up a comic book, they just think, for example, that superman is only Christopher reeve. Okay, reeve's superman was fantastic, it still is, but superman is much more than him.
+Giovanni Alckmim Russo But you really don't know that. You're just trying to dismiss the opinions of those who disagree with you. I'm a huge fan of both comics and the superhero genre, liked Man of Steel, but still wasn't a huge fan of BvS. The editing was really messy in certain areas and the plot felt like an attempt to crush two and a half different story lines into one movie leaving me feeling that neither TDKR or Death of Superman were done any justice (Death of Superman really should be its own movie). Choices like the one to kill Jimmy Olsen off immediately (without any real introduction in the original cut) rather than just exclude his character from these movies or to make Batman kill feel like lazy ways to mess with fan expectations. Maybe those things will be better explained later on but for now, it only brings the movie down. With that said, I did like certain parts like the warehouse scene with Batman which really did feel like it was ripped out of the comics. It's just that, IMO, there weren't enough scenes like that for them to outweigh the many flaws the movie has. I can definitely see why others, especially comic book and superhero fans, would be disappointed.
My favorite Jonathan Kent is John Schneider on "Smallville," largely because his moral compass ion reminds me positively of my own dad, and the kind of dad I want to be. My favorite scene in this movie is where Clark's X-ray vision kicks on in class and he hides in a closet to avoid the overstimulation. I have two boys with severe autism, and that is the best illustration of what it is like for them.
4:18 Just wanted to point out that a comment made me realize that in this moment, where General Zod screams, he gets hit by the literal thing he is asking for, the codex :|
I think I like this movie a bit more after this video! Thank you!! But about the ending I was meh with the neck snap I know from his yell he did not want to do so its funny everyone forgets about that part lol. Also, I would like the end fight more if Superman saved a few people or something, oh well still looked amazing!
the ending was still better than superman 2 where he took zods powers away then threw him down a hole to die then made lois forget everything with a stupid kiss
"Also I would like the end fight more if superman save a few people or something" He did that by killing Zod. And the killing of Zod, would you rather have the killing of Zod from Superman 2? You know stripping him of all his powers, crushing his hand and throwing him down a frozen crevice beaten and bruised and leaving him to die frozen and crippled? Or a justified Neck snapping?
After seeing the Snyder Cut, its clear that Earth was chosen as Kal's destination for a reason: the Kryptonians knew the Anti-Life equation was there. It jives with the Mother Boxes and Kryptonian ship being connected (as stated in the movie). Also resolves the "random selection" problem that Superman arriving on Earth has always had.
+CinemaWins I'm glad i could find a nice alternative to cinemasins for a change. thank you for going through all this. I loved this movie. The metropolis destruction makes us CARE. There's a reason why people won't shut up about the destruction and yet they stupidly blame superman instead of the villain who staged the fight in the first place. There's tension and drama and it also adds to conflict for upcoming movies. I'd rather have people be torn on superman rather than everyone blindly praising him and welcoming him in open arms (looking at you amazing spiderman 2) speaking of future movies, batman v superman is like a reverse dark knight returns, instead superman is the focus and center of the whole movie. Its unjustifiably hated to the point where its hard to take such criticism's seriously. its one of those movies you have to sink your own teeth in and find the answers in the movie which are indeed there. Afleck didn't let us down, he was given an arc. a different one we haven't seen before. Meanwhile; jessie, while being a mixed bag, his lex was still smart, evil and manipulative. Just different. i look at him as lex luthors beginnings just like in man of steel was supermans beginnings. =) i hope to see you tackle that movie with just as much positivity
Thanks for the kind words! I agree. Hadn't thought about how good it is a good thing to have audience conflict over a character like Superman, good point. And I can't wait to take on Dawn of Justice.
+CinemaWins I loved the movie and I loved ur review on it! When will you be reviewing BvS?? Just stumbled on your video and I will be subscribing to ur channel.
Hopefully you realize that Cinemasins does what they do for a goof and not to be a real critique channel. "... a nice alternative" makes it sound like you don't seem to understand that and that you don't appreciate the humor and casual nature of the Cinemasins channel. They sins are a goof and there for a laugh. if you treat them seriously as criticisms then you are misinterpreting the nature and purpose of the channel and making yourself look more than a little foolish in complaining about them.
MOS is by far my favorite DCEU movie lol granted there are only 2, I am sure it will hold that place. SS looks amazing and so does WW and JL but MOS was so beautiful and I am happy it started the DCEU and not Batman. Coming from a Batman fan
8:46 The fact he goes out of his way to always, _always_ be good is sort of the point. A grounded Superman is good, but a corrupted Superman is the worst possible outcome, so the DCEU directors have essentially been handed a live grenade and told "don't let it blow up"
+Humble0721 just a preference. I thought the Smallville fight scene was way more creative and showed us a lot more we havent seen before in a Comic Book film scene. The Civil War airport fight scene was boring outside of giant man IMO. I thought the WS/BP chase scene earlier in the film was more entertaining.
+Lord Amadeus MoS and BvS fight scenes are just pure DBZ. Marvel fight scenes have good choreography and combos. Seriously, if I wanted to see fights like those I'd go see DBZ instead of DC. Just saying.
+Bela Bhowmik marvel fights scenes are getting lazy its shakey cam 2 second cuts and lots of spinning kicks it worked in avengers when you had brawlers like hulk and thor to kind of balance it out but now everyone kind if is doing similar fighting styles and it gets repetitive
This is the first(Or maybe second Idk) most realistic Superman yet It gets you to feel the power That you can actually feel how powerful this Superman really is
You know what im gonna say it superman in this film is not mopey or emo or anyother moody word you want to throw at him. He's putting on the suit for the first time and getting into the famous superman persona. Its a little rough around the edges but it shines through in the last scene with the general. Only times i saw him being brooding was when he had to make the choice between turn himself in to the aliens or see the earth get blown up and when he killed zod the rest of the time he was quiet or downright friendly
@@animaljp3 ... Grabbing Zod's head and pointing it up?
@@runefaustblack That's just snapping his neck at a different angle.
Miguel de Lima both of them were on the same level in terms of pure strength it would’ve been a constant stalemate which wouldn’t budge Zod and eventually allow him to kill the family

Zod was only going to get stronger as he adapted to Earth's atmosphere. He was relentless and was never going to stop - he had to die!!!
I never understood the hate for this film. To me it was exactly what a bad ass superman film should be and we finally got it.
Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice=5/10 - Great in terms of realism, but quite boring
Suicide Squad=2/10 - *bleugh*
Wonder Woman=4/10 - 1st act was okay, rest wasn't that great
Justice League=3/10 - Bad CG, horrible plot. Still some good aspects.
@@maid-chan4815 You kind of have a bit of an unpopular opinion but hey who am I to judge.
@@maid-chan4815 what is your opinion now on Aquaman?
@@phousefilms Wrong on all counts, but I understand if you dislike him
Also when Zod and Clark were fighting it was in an mostly abandoned city.
Exactly. He's not Superman. He's Clark Kent.

Okay, why doesn't Hans Zimmer get an "always a win" status? Seriously, he's like the best film composer working today!
I know, right? The second best , Michael Giacchino, IS "always a win" already!
he recycles a lot of his scores...egregiously. Giacchino at least has points for originality.
Also Zimmer is sometimes good, but he's nowhere close to the likes of John Williams or Joe Hisaishi.
Danny Elfman is also up there

No John Williams is the best. Hans is like fourth to Michael Giacchino and Danny Elfman

@@ewanmack6537 What exactly is wrong with MoS' Superman?

I actually really liked Zod in this. He was just a man trying to do the best for his species survival.
Same with Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
To me, he felt like a three dimensional character in this movie, unlike Terence Stamp's Zod.

+My names Jeff
Captain America (1990), Fant4stic, Ghost Rider, Batman and Robin are all "shit" movies.

Yeah and I remember how people hated the first look of Jared Leto's Joker
I was one of those people. Then I was like, let me watch it first
I always thought he was going to be good... but he was better then I thought lol, I loved BvS and he was the best part of it
I absolutely agree. I was pissed when Affleck was cast but he nailed it
This movie was the reason for me to like Superman. I've never gotten why the hate
Eduardo Martínez "people hate what they dont understand"
Eduardo Martínez me to i started liking superman after watching this movie one of my favourite superhero movie
Eduardo Martínez YEAH IF ONLY WB HADN'T BUT IN TO ALL OTHER DCEU FILMS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN AS GOOD AS SUPERMAN...
PATRICK LESLIE I actually like all the other movies too JLA is my 1 favourite in DCEU
Leo I DISAGREE THIS IS THE ONLY GOOD ONE...
I just realized that a lot of the people who got mad that Supes killed Zod are the same ppl who would get mad when heroes don’t kill the villain because the villain comes back to kill more ppl later
Cerebral Assassin true
thats becouse people are never happy with what they get
No, the reason people don't like it is similar to why people don't like the "Martha" scene in BvS.
There's no pleasing anyone.
Since no one else has the balls, I have to say that: this is the GREATEST Superman movie of all time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA. Good one. You make me laugh.
God, it must be great to live with so much bliss all the time.
well if this one isnt, then which one is?
Superman (1978): Time Travel Ending
Superman II: That S Symbol
Superman III: Richard Pryor
Superman IV: Everything
Superman Returns: Boring
So yeah Man of Steel is the best
I agree too.
The score to this film was beyond epic. Zimmer's best work IMO. Yes, the movie is loud and hard to play full out at home w/o DRC enabled to some degree, but wow. When the full weight of sound is allowed to roar it's absolutely insane.
Brinley T my lord... you really don't get soundtracks and good music do you?
Wattsify I'm new to the DCEU. I haven't had a chance to listen to the scores yet.
James Galligan Dark Knight? lmfao this isnt his Best but it is good i wont lie
It’s great until your band has to play it for a concert. Then you learn to hate it
this score is better than the dark knight imo
Underrated movie.
Russell Crowe kicked so much ass in this film.
2nd Dude Batfleck was amazing
He said after the release of this movie, he was willing to do a Krypton movie with his character. He enjoyed himself a lot.
SuperArppis Sometimes people just need to understand what happens when you put unbreakable people fighting in a clearly breakable place.
I also thought about this. Sadly, most people did not
They're DragonBallZ fanboys. They seriously think a villain like Zod or Darkseid gives a fuck where they fight. They're not morons like Vegeta who goes outside the city because "I wunt to fight you at full powah wit nuthin else in de wey!"
destroying buildings is like ... rule #2 of being a superhero lmfao. DC and Marvel both do it. its just... how it is /shrug
Thank you I’ve been saying the same thing for years.
"A good death is it's own reward."
It gives me goosebumps everytime I watch this movie and hear Chris Melloni say that line.
Because Clark is an alien, he thinks and reacts differently, too.
ruclips.net/video/d2RpU3FL1w8/видео.html
Oh, I can absolutely relate.
Yep I feel it. They thought I had ADHD when I was younger but later I was put on the autism spectrum (high functioning) and yeah sensory overload sucks big time
Lol you thought Batfleck would be the worst part of Batman v Superman...
little did he know that his predictions were all completely wrong
Oh the irony, when Batfleck is the best part, oh the irony...
+Shrek isLife I don't think it's irony
well we all doubted Batfleck and we were all wrong!
+bob bill I didn't doubt batfleck at all he's a good actor and I could tell from the commercial that he would be good. Don't speak for everybody
I know the add doesn't like killing and as much as it hate Supes to do it this was the right move
brownwingedangel
I agree.
CinemaWins contemplating Batfleck in 2016: We're screwed.
CinemaWins now: We love Batfleck!! Please don't go!!
Personal opinion.
I truly believe Superman destroying the world engine is truly one of the most inspiring scenes in movie history
Truly?
@Black Ninja beautiful metaphor
Daniel Villot nice. Im actually glad that there are people out there who enjoy this movie
@Black Ninja absolutely
Ok, you missed 2 obvious wins. "A good death is it's own reward" for bad ass good guy looking death in the face and still drawing his knife, and "A good death is it's own reward" call back/self sacrifice.
God that was such a great moment
Lol.)
Unfortunately this version was before the "Earth One"Superman comic came out with Zod, where Superman is approached by Zod and was still early in his career,.
He fits the role so damn well
TheR3aper5 i agree with you 110% man
Also, since when did an alien invasion film not have mass destruction of cities?
The Avengers....oh wait....
Plus all Superman fights have destruction in the cities.
It’s also Superman fighting another superpowered being for the first time.
This movie was horrible
@@swishasweetrold each to their own opinion
Man of Steel has the most Epic Action scenes I have ever seen. It was an Epic movie.
I don't Care what anyone says, 6 years in Man of Steel is a Great Movie. Fight me.
Every time I watch this Video and get to 05:15 I wanna go Back and Re-watch the movie.
Man of Steel is a masterpiece. FIGHT ME IF YOU DISAGREE!
@@AlexStarOfStarWars nah, it's awsometimesinfinite
No one do
I’ve been itching for a throw down *cracks joints*
I don't think it's a masterpiece, I think the way it tells Clark's childhood through flashbacks is messy and unnecessary, I think that the villain is boring, I think that Lois Lane is a bit irritating but worst of all I think Clark/superman misses the point so much it hurts
This is my opinion you can disagree
Robin D. Season 5 of arrow has been pretty damn dark.
i didn't think man of steel was dark at all.
HEY!
Incest is Wincest
Glad you watch daredevil
It focuses more on Clark and Jonathan, than Clark/Jonathan/Jor, but the plot is basically 75% the same
Plus American Alien, it's basically a parallel of that series, especially the ending, with the fight with Lobo where he first felt real pain and fear.
Book Three was the best!
True
Cobalt Falcon sounds like smallville
Cobalt Falcon Thank you!... I've been saying that since the movie came out, this movie is basically based on that run and it's probably my personal favourite take on Supes, I'm not a big reader of him largely just because he's usually depicted as more a "walking concept of ultimate power and good" rather than an actual character with personality, but that run was excellent imo.
And yeah, Snyder loved Smallville... there's a few in there, the bald Kryptonian played an old Lex clone, and the guy from Galactica played Dr Emil Hamilton... so he's standing next to himself in a few scenes XD
I'd have to look up if there's any others.
This is my kind of channel! Finally a RUclipsr who is positive and looks for the good in things. Subscribed!

JazzyZenBrotha yeah.. lol Only one time I heard he said something bad about a movie, and it was about Tom Hank's "Angels and Demons" haha
I have that movie on DVD somewhere, the original Fist of the North Star. Good movie.
The scene when he raises his fist and flies against the planet machine is so incredible
Wait so no win for the pilot of the cargo plane that says "A good death is its own reward!" before crashing the plane to save the planet?
Bnadit Yeah a win for that airplane scene for the badassery of everyone trying to make sure the plane gets to its destination even if they had to exchange their lives for it would have been nice
Thats Chris Meloni
Just the fact that this channel is a play on Cinema Sins makes me happy. And I can't stop loving this movie. I knew that as time went on more and more people would wake up and realize that this is the best superman movie to date.
I used to follow the crowd and hate on this movie when it came out. Superman is my favorite character after all. I seen it again recently, didn't realize how good it was seeing it again. When I was in the theater seeing it for the first time was forcing myself to hate it because Redlettermedia and other critics told me so. shameful how groupthink is.
It's like an important "copy cat" of something to show a different side of something.
That is debatable, but it's easily the best Superman movie ever made.
+Team VLCN Eh...I don't agree, but even if I did, that's not much of an accomplishment. Just about all the Superman movies are painfully bad
I had no problem with Superman breaking Zod's neck, and I had no trouble with Batman killing people in Batman v. Superman. Not because I'm a sociopath, (although, I am a high functioning sociopath) but because I don't see how it could logically be avoided.
High functioning sociopath huh?
"This clearly isn't your grandfather's Superman." WOW xD
Man of Steel and Watchmen are probably my favorite superhero movies. That's really what I go to the movies for nowadays.
now it should be infinity war, BvS and Justice league snyder cut
@@sidvyas9810 you got that right! Excited for the proper justice league!
Holy shit I just realised for the first time the double meaning in Lois' "Welcome to the planet" in the end!
how many times have u seen the movie
Lol I didn't even notice that.
I got that reference the first time I saw the movie in theater, I was like that was the best way to close the film, I was so impressed.
iHaveContrl It is.
I absolutely love the part when he says: "YOU THINK YOU CAN THREATEN MY MOTHER?" It shows how the MAN stands out from the SUPER, because that's what makes him interesting, the Superman is still super, but he is man too
I LOVED Man of Steel, this video and Angry Joe's review are so cool. Thanks.
Huh... OK...
+Francois Germain At the time of Manhattan of Steel, Angry Joe was alright. But now, he complains a shit ton on the smallest of issues.
+Intense Gaming Exactly! He is bitching about how nothing in BvS makes sense, but does not speak about the plot holes in CW. Joe thinks Ant Man makes more sense than BvS, he has become an idiot. Not the Joe I subscribed to...
+Sabyasachi Mukherjee I mean the beginning of the BvS spoiler talk made me click off. I had to watch it in bits due to the cringe.
7:30: "You wouldn't sully your own hands, but you'll damn the psycho to a black hole for eternity!!!"*spit*
I have to admit, this movie is actually better than BvS!
+AUSseal totally agree!
I think BvS was much better!
+AUSseal keep in mind that we've never seen a young lex before. who know what he was like
+Neal Caffey a realistic Superman would be affected by feeling like he's more harm Than good. that's common sense
ACTUALLY BATMAN OH SORRY BEN AFFLECK DIDN'T LET US DOWN AT ALL
Batfleck. It's pretty much his new identity. And deservedly so.
He was awesome except for the serial killer part
Batfleck was the bomb in dawn of justice yo
Word
Yes, he was.
The bomb in MOS was Lois Lane knowing the secret identity of Clark Kent as Superman.
sof sagu, Lois Lane is also the bomb in BvS. Flash tells Wayne that Ms. Lane is the key.
I will never understand why people say man of steel and batman v superman had no substance. To me they had far more substance than a majority of the mcu films. Sure it was done in an unconventional way but just because its different from most blockbusters and the comics doesn't mean its bad. Also, they don't spoonfeed you and leave things open for interpretation.
agreed
Then you got the movie! Can't wait for the extended addition.
same here amazing films!
Funny enough Batflec was the best part BvS.
Was just about to comment that
In most of the films he references at the end in relation to Afleck- Afleck was not the problem.
Frans van Schooten yup
This is the movie where I actually took Superman seriously and began to like the character
You've perfectly described why Superman will ALWAYS be my favorite, at the 7:00min mark. Thank you.
I can honestly say that this is my favorite Superman film. Superman has always been far to OP and alien for me to care for or relate too. And while this Superman is obviously still OP they were able to humanize him and make him just a little more relatable than he was before. They made me care about the character which no other film Superman has ever done
Yeah henry cavill is the most human superman yet
Nerd, Patriot, Disciple Superman is an allegory for Jesus, and the story is very similar.
7:35 you forgot to say you better not disappoint us Martian manhunter
dude, you need more subscribers! thank you for the positive outlook!
4:18
THANK YOU
i've been saying that for years
7:40 when you realize he was actually talking to martian manhunter
I happened to stumble onto this thanks to a YT suggestion. I'm so glad. A couple of weeks ago I realized how sick I was about all the info out there being SO NEGATIVE. Sometimes negative is needed, but damn, what about positive? I think CS has gotten a little too self-important by pointing out every of the tiniest flaws as if each one alone is a reason you shouldn't watch the movie. There's not enough "Carla Gugino isn't my girlfriend in this scene" and too much "I don't like Zack Snyder and Imma spend 30 minutes breaking it down."
I hear so much about people walking out of movies and demanding their money back.
5:46 - Superman says, "Fuck you, gravity."
When Lois said to Clark "Welcome to the planet." Doesn't just mean to the Daily planet. It's foreshadowing humanity finally accepting Superman on the earth.
finally some one talks good about this movie i like it
Here in 2020 and I still have to say this movie is the best superman movie, it was ahead of its time, Henry Cavill was the perfect role and well. That father scene can still bring down my barrier
i love how you pointed out that this version of Superman is a noob compared to Zod and his army. of course, Superman doesn't know his limits yet and he's now aware of how dangerous they are. and yes, Zod was outshined by Faora.
Shoulda won on the Zod speech. Possibly my favorite "I have nothing left to lose" speeches in any movie.
The irony is that Batfleck and Scarfred were the best part of Dawn of Justice.
Lol
+Rinstinkt Rat Are you talking about how he looks as batman or when he's Bruce Wayne?
This movie is great very under appreciated in the DCEU
Unpopular opinion: Man of Steel is the Citizen Kane of every Superman movies!
Hahahha and batfleck was one of the best parts of BvS... Great movie btw fuck the critics it is fantastic
It's not just the critics bro. A lot of fans hated BVS too. but I feel your pain cuz I fucking love MOS but it seems a lot of people think it's trash.
False fans. I'm a big DC fan and loved BvS, it felt like reading a comic book, and for fucks sake, Superman is Superman, both in MoS and in BvS.
+Giovanni Alckmim Russo It's a bit bullshit to call people false fans just because they don't hold the same opinion as yourself.
I freaking loved how you can almost feel the power and speed from Superman and the kryptonians
It just shows how ungodly these people really are
My favorite Jonathan Kent is John Schneider on "Smallville," largely because his moral compass ion reminds me positively of my own dad, and the kind of dad I want to be. My favorite scene in this movie is where Clark's X-ray vision kicks on in class and he hides in a closet to avoid the overstimulation. I have two boys with severe autism, and that is the best illustration of what it is like for them.
3:11 I love that the camera can't keep up with superman.
“Welcome to the Planet” is the best double entendre in film history
4:18
Just wanted to point out that a comment made me realize that in this moment, where General Zod screams, he gets hit by the literal thing he is asking for, the codex :|
I think I like this movie a bit more after this video! Thank you!! But about the ending I was meh with the neck snap I know from his yell he did not want to do so its funny everyone forgets about that part lol. Also, I would like the end fight more if Superman saved a few people or something, oh well still looked amazing!
Glad to hear it! I feel like the end of Age of Ultron when they were trying to save all the Sokovians was a direct response the backlash that MoS got.
What do you think is the problem with superman snapping Zod's neck?
+CinemaWins I thought that EXACT thing. "NO.. we're saving EVERYBODY" Okay Cap, calm down.. how is that even possible to do in a situation like that.
the ending was still better than superman 2 where he took zods powers away then threw him down a hole to die then made lois forget everything with a stupid kiss
"Also I would like the end fight more if superman save a few people or something"
He did that by killing Zod.
And the killing of Zod, would you rather have the killing of Zod from Superman 2?
You know stripping him of all his powers, crushing his hand and throwing him down a frozen crevice beaten and bruised and leaving him to die frozen and crippled?
Or a justified Neck snapping?
Someday, I want a Perry the Platypus/Dr. Doofenshmirtz moment. "Clark Kent." *takes off glasses* "SUPERMAN?!"
After seeing the Snyder Cut, its clear that Earth was chosen as Kal's destination for a reason: the Kryptonians knew the Anti-Life equation was there. It jives with the Mother Boxes and Kryptonian ship being connected (as stated in the movie). Also resolves the "random selection" problem that Superman arriving on Earth has always had.
you are just the best. keep going! I really really really love BVS, wait to hear what you say about it
+CinemaWins I'm glad i could find a nice alternative to cinemasins for a change. thank you for going through all this.
+CinemaWins
I loved the movie and I loved ur review on it!
Shadow07Warrior1989
i do know most of cinemasins is a joke and do enjoy some of that channels videos. what i meant is "finally a positive outlook"
MOS is by far my favorite DCEU movie lol granted there are only 2, I am sure it will hold that place. SS looks amazing and so does WW and JL but MOS was so beautiful and I am happy it started the DCEU and not Batman. Coming from a Batman fan
8:46
The fact he goes out of his way to always, _always_ be good is sort of the point. A grounded Superman is good, but a corrupted Superman is the worst possible outcome, so the DCEU directors have essentially been handed a live grenade and told "don't let it blow up"
Smallville wrestling match > Civil War airport sequence.
eeeehh, Its like a First time Rookie Superman vs everything the MCU gave us minus thor and hulk, Its not a reach, but also not a stretch.
+Lord Amadeus but that's your opinion
+Lord Amadeus MoS and BvS fight scenes are just pure DBZ. Marvel fight scenes have good choreography and combos. Seriously, if I wanted to see fights like those I'd go see DBZ instead of DC. Just saying.
+Bela Bhowmik marvel fights scenes are getting lazy its shakey cam 2 second cuts and lots of spinning kicks it worked in avengers when you had brawlers like hulk and thor to kind of balance it out but now everyone kind if is doing similar fighting styles and it gets repetitive
This is the first(Or maybe second Idk) most realistic Superman yet
It gets you to feel the power
That you can actually feel how powerful this Superman really is
You know what im gonna say it superman in this film is not mopey or emo or anyother moody word you want to throw at him.
Let's be honest: without Supes, no DCEU! :) Hanz Zimmer gives me chills in this movie.
best superhero movie ever.thanks for explaining the world
Henry Cavill's Superman is the best I've ever witnessed... in my 75 years on this planet. Go for Henry. You're so good it hurt.
Anyone else notice that this movie is the Saiyan Saga?
Samuel Woody yeah basically
You and your dbz
except with a terrible final fight.
The creator of DBZ was inspired by the story of superman. That's why you can see many similarities lile Goku's uniform etc-
Dbz fan here lol
Superman was first so technically it’s the other way around
