    About parking heater. You need to conntact your VW dealer again to get this funktion. There is license code that needs to be downloaded to THE car.

    Lot's of confusion around on 0783 so beware people. Some dealers will only apply if your car has a fault (as VW will apparently only pay them for the labour if the install is due to a fault). Install can takes days or week especially when "modules" fail and need replacement. Not all functionality appears to be available to all cars (probably the hardware issue again) post upgrade. Responsiveness is better (it's awful on 0564), as is boot up time. 2.1 with OTA is probably March at earliest (hence why ID.4 delayed until March) and then you'll have to join the queue to get upgraded. Most dealers can do 1 car per day if there are no installs issues of 0783. They sold 3150 cars in December, not sure how many in total in 2020 but it will take a while to get through the fleet. Most people seem to come out of 0783 with a better experience but there are some horror stories out there. For details check out speakev/forums/vehicle specific/vw/id.3/sofware update 2.0
    Meanwhile my model 3 is updating fortnightly, not that it matters, neither car is going anywhere under lockdown. Nice hardware, awful software. Hopefully they get it fixed fast and owners can enjoy their cars as intended.

      ME2.1 rollout actually started yesterday, according to my VW mechanic the update takes about 6 hours. And updating the car doesn’t require any supervision, so depending on how well equipped your VW dealership is, they can flash 6-12 cars at the same time.

    • @malcolmhedges7346
      @malcolmhedges7346 3 года назад

      @@lorenzmuller4000 ah interesting thanks. Dealers in the U.K. have 1 machine per dealer, so 1 car a day. We’ve also seen hardware failures that require nee parts to be shipped to the dealer. One guy has had his car in the dealership for 2 months. Hopefully 2.1 solves a lot of problems and missing functionality but personally I think there will be more bumps along the way.

    You're fortunate to have had the 0783 update. I've got some issues with my Life model but VW won't do an update for me (I'm on 0564). One really annoying issue is my lights. If I put in manual mode, even in daylight, the dipped headlights are always on, they won't switch off. Even in auto mode it has to be very sunny before all lights go off. The strange thing is I was in standing traffic the other day and put the lights in manual mode, pushed the sensor and dipped and side lights went off, but as soon as the car in front drove off the lights came back on. It's so annoying other drivers flashing me because I have dipped headlights on in broad daylight.
    I'd be interested to know if any other owners have this issue.

    • @GowthamV07
      @GowthamV07 3 года назад

      For VW to update you have to report that you have software issues to your dealer and tell car is not usable so you get priority for the manual update or wait for 2.1 update this month.

    Alex, in general, despite software problems, would you say that the ID3 is a good buy at the moment? With further updates, hopefully over the air, it should get better? I'm planning to buy the 'Life' version later this year. Above 'Life' version they install black side windows, which I don't like. Maybe I'll go for the Skoda version!

      Driving is great. VW knows how to built a car. You feel the quality of the hardware while driving. Autopilot system is a revelation. LED lights are great. Every day handling including recharging is simple. Software 753 currently works ok and reliable but still deserves some work. OTA software updates will fix that.

CarPlay turn directions have been there since iOS9 and until now only Renault had implemented them. I'm glad it is now in the VW group latest systems. As of iOS13 it can provide a full map for a driver display so hopefully we will start to see those soon on cars with bigger screens that normally show an OEM map and not have to wait another 5 years

    still looks to be a work in progress and not thought out properly pretty poor for VW a rushed product. VW Need quality developers but probably already realised the best in Silicon Valley already work for Tesla. Huge debts and cost cutting is showing trying to manage a fossil and EV platform at the same time.

    • @GowthamV07
      @GowthamV07 3 года назад

      Tesla has issues with panel gaps VW has issues with software which can be fixed so no big deal. VW is not going bankrupt anytime soon they own most of the car brands of Europe. And i think they did a good job with their first EV. Only the software seems glitchy which VW has already mentioned they are fixing.

    • @timmurphy5541
      @timmurphy5541 3 года назад

      There are a lot of good software developers outside Tesla and even a decent number outside the US. e.g. Tesla's user interface uses the Qt toolkit which comes from an European company.
