This video saved me last year! Dealer and Toyota corporate refused to fix my sensors under warranty. Brought my car to them 4 times and never fixed. I saw this video which gave me the courage to remove my bumper. I replaced the $6.00 sensor and I did not need to deal with the runaround anymore. Again, thank you so much for the detailed video!!
This is exactly what I needed to see so I can wrap my chrome !! Thank you!! I have plans to remove the rear bumper too. I would LOVE to see if u made a step by step video for the rear bumper removal on the 2020+ Highlander !
I haven’t had the chance to take apart another highlander and I actually just moved to another shop so no vids just yet. The rear bumper is a lot like the front bumper on these Toyota’s. Just about the same procedure and screw/clip locations only difference is when you open your lift gate there are screws on each side should only be 2. They may be covered by a trim piece attached to the tail light (use a clip tool to remove) Thank you for your feedback
Very good video. Not that much to get it off. Like it is called, just a cover. They are designed to be easily replaced. Doesn't take much to damage one. Just contact..Pull it, paint it, put it back on and get back into traffic. Covers are cheap. Just all that extra labor that makes a expensive deal.
After removing the front bumper. Are you able to remove the front garnish (the chrome part of the bumper). If so are you able to show us a tutorial on how to do that. I’m looking on replacing it with a black one. Thank you!!
I haven’t had the chance to take another one apart but yes you should be able to remove the chrome from the grill assembly and replace it with the black one. Most likely held in by tabs and possibly screws. Toyota might sell the whole grill with black garnish on it as one piece
Does the front bumper have to be removed to replace the lower cover w/valance panel and valance panel? (part numbers 521290E100 & 539010E010) Thank you!
Yes it seems you do have to remove the entire bumper to replace the lower bumper cover. That's the job we just did. If you don't remove the bumper you can't get to the snap connectors that secure the lower bumper to the main bumper. But, with this video the job is really not that bad. We did the whole thing with a 10mm ratchet with extension, and two screwdrivers.

Thanks so much for this thorough video! Worked perfectly, and saved me a ton of money--I had to re-adhere one of the front bumper sensors.
Parking sensor fell in bumper. Saved money doing this myself. Thank you! Much appreciated!
You have no idea how long I wait for this video.. Thank you so much..
can you please share a video on how to replace only the front grill of 2022 highlander?

You already know I'm adding the xse to my xle 😂
Have you done this? Is it a direct swap?
Wondering as well lol
Thanks for making the video!
Thank you for watching and subscribing👍
Spot on!!!! Thank you
When you removed 'the "one last clip" from the bottom cover, it looked like it broke the clip. Did you just use the "pry" tool to pull it off?

Is it possible to replace that black lower front bumper cover without taking the whole bumper off? I cracked mine on a raccoon's skull.
So well done. We removed and reinstalled the entire bumper without a hitch.
Great video.
I just fot a limited grill do I need to take of the bumper completely to change it??
Yes I don’t think there’s a way around it
Thanks
