You can get the factory 10 round savage mags for about $50 or so. You have to call savage customer service for parts and magazines.
Looks like you clipped a loop or two off the ejector spring. I did that on a Savage once, makes it so you don't have to chase brass in the weeds, but if you ever get in a situation where you have to get a lot of rounds off quickly, you will find your gun is a jam-o-matic. The weak spring can't get the old case out of the way of the next one fast enough.

How did you do to mount the pic rail to the stock?
How do you find the Burris XTR? I'm thinking of going with the same model with 3-15x magnification for 1-800m shooting, is it a good scope for those ranges or would you recommend something else?

Just got this rifle last week. Do you think a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP is a good scope for this rifle? I'm probably going to go with the MRAD version

I bought a box of SSA 168s and 175s from Cabelas that I shot out of my Savage Model 10T. Half of the rounds the primers blew out and accuracy was terrible. My handloads perform much much better.

Can you give a little info on the scope and rings? I have just purchased this rifle (I'm also new to long range) and have been having a little bit of an issue trying to figure out if i need Low or Med rings for a 44 objective lens scope.
mediums are what you need.
If you're watching this, just know, there is no footage of targets, bullet flight, etc. Literally just him shooting the gun. Depending on what you're expecting, or hoping to see, that is it.

It's a great gun for the money, I've picked up a Ruger Precision Rifle in .243 and have been shooting it a lot. The savage has been collecting dust ever since haha.
Does the ruger just shoot a lot better then? More accurate? 243 is flatter shooting.

What's the bag wrapped around the stock?
its a cheek rest. much softer and can be put onto any rifle to bring your head up a little further from the stock for better clarity on the scope.
