I bought the tesmart kvm two years ago and it broke, I tried to contact them and they continued to solve the problem for me! So surprising! So I also bought their new dual monitor kvm, which works great now.
Great informative video. What I don't get is, why does it require 2 hdmis from each pc/laptop to kvm switch. Would have been ideal if it was just 1 cable from each.
Might have missed it, but it should be noted that while you can connect it to a gaming PC, it is not ideal given that it supports only 60Hz. So anyone out there with 144hz monitor don't just buy this for the sake of using with the gaming PC. I connect my PC directly to the monitors via DP, and use the HDMI ports for kvm.
you should be able to get more than 60hz` put of this switch! I was running my ultra wide via HDMI 2 at 120hz. The 4k 60hz is a bandwidth limit of the HDMI 2 port
I've been looking pretty hard for a KVM that allows showing both computers at the same time, the setting that you said you don't have a use for. These tesmart KVMs are just about the only ones I can find at a consumer level that allow that. Would have been great if you demonstrated that. I'd like to know if I can choose which monitor shows which computer, how the keyboard/mouse control works in that scenario, and how window placement works in that scenario. This video was my best shot at seeing that in action, guess I'll just have to buy the damned thing to see lmao.
in case anybody's here for the same reason I was, I found the manual on their pretty confusing website (models have multiple model numbers) and there are hotkeys to swap which monitor shows which PC, and a hotkey to switch keyboard/mouse control, but it appears to work in a weird way. "Keyboard and mouse focus on the desktop of PC 2 in display mode 2 (i.e. swap images)" that sounds like KM focus stays on 1 monitor (be it left or right, I don't know) and the images flip. Gonna have to get used to this dance if you're alternating a lot. Also, these bits of information were important to me: "The 2 monitors will not swap the image when the maximum resolutions supported by them are different." and "The EDID emulator function is not support in display mode 2". So, If you have two different resolution monitors, it seems you're limited to one orientation in display mode 2 (meaning you're seeing both computers on two monitors at once), and regardless of what monitors you have, display mode two will not remember window placement (EDID). I want both computers in extended display (what's the point of mirroring?) with specific windows on each monitor. The whole point of swapping which monitor showed which PC was so I could see specific windows at the same time. Gonna be annoying to get used to this, but still seems like the only "affordable" option where you can see both PCs at once.
Would it make sense to use a dock station instead of running multiple cables directly from the Macbook? That way, if you need to unplug and take your Macbook with on the go, you just have one or two cables to deal with?
With this dual HDMI KVM set up could I do the following ? For the hot keys 3 and 4 where I’m using each monitor for separate input (mode where I’m just switching keyboard and mouse but have separate computers showing on each monitor) use the laptop as a “2nd” monitor of that input computer ? For example… monitor 1 = personal desktop Monitor 2 = work laptop with it open like your mac and use that laptop screen as well so making dual monitor setup with the laptop and monitor 2 while having monitor 1 stick to personal computer In this setup, I would essentially have a dual monitor solution of work laptop screen + monitor 2 and switch back and forth between this dual setup and the monitor 1 with personal computer

Hello - quick question to you all. I have a USB-C monitor for my Macbook Pro and want to switch between that and my Windows work laptop. Will this solution work if I want to connect Macbook Pro directly to the monitor and then switch to my work laptop?
Can you view multiple inputs at the same time on one monitor? I’m looking for a KVM switch that allows me to view 4 screens on my tv to take advantage of the screen space
@MashITTech it looks like Tesmart is what I need. How are you connecting your microphone and your camera though? I use a Yeti X mic and a DSLR camera- I am right now connecting both using a USB-C to my Macbook ... but just got a windows PC and would love to have both working on it too... I am soon probably going to be getting a RodeCaster Pro II - have no idea how I would connect that.
This video is a little older now and all newer models come either usb3 which will make what you ask easier. I would either plug a small usb hub into the usb3 port on the TESmart if I needed to share more than 3 devices or if your monitor has a usb hub you can use that (this is what I do with my 4 port usb hub built into my dell 4K ultra sharp )

question, i have a gaming laptop and a macbook. is there a way to not have to open my laptops everytime to turn them on? i want to keep them closed all the time without having to continue to pull them out under the shelf and moving all the cords...
As long as the laptops are in s3 sleep (not hibernate) and are set to wake from usb they should wake up as long as you set the switch to the relevant channel
That price tho... You can get a generic KVM box with all the same ports for fairly cheap online. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for something flashy like this but we're talking literally 7x the price.
Thanks for this video, I will be sure to purchase through your link. Two Questions. 1. If I put a 3.5mm audio splitter in the audio out, then plug my speakers in one and a headset in the other do you think that will work. I know both would be running but I can mute one or the other on the actual device depending on which one I want to use. 2. Where did you get your very cool monitor riser, it would go great on my desk. You should have a link for that as well. Thanks again.
Hi Richard, glad it was useful. 1. That should work but you mention headset, do you plan to use the mic on it or just the headphones? 2. The monitor stand was from ikea but I don’t think they sell it anymore
Another good video. I use one of these Tesmart KVM to share monitor, keyboard, and mouse between my r13 and x17. It’s very convenient. The remote is nice if you want to put the KVM out of site. I have it near my router and modem under the desk so the remote comes in handy. I was pleasantly surprised at how well these Tesmart kvms work as u read some poor reviews. But I think those that had trouble just didn’t fully understand their requirements so they might not have selected the right model for them.
Thanks mate, and yes I guess it could be difficult for an average user to A. choose the right KVM and B. set it up as it looks quite daunting when you look at all the ports :)
I need some advice. Im trying to connect both my Macbook (lid closed) and Playstation to one monitor. I want a clean desk with not much wires showing, will i be able to do that with a KVM switch? Any advice would be great!

Nuphy gave me a 10% discount code if you buy it from them too, use Mash10 if you want one :)
I have the same keyboard!
why dont just get monitors with built in kvm????
just bought this and it frequently drops usb connections. this is within 12 hrs of use. would not recommend
you clearly have a faulty unit! I have had a few now and none have dropped USB. Can you get it exchanged?
@@MashITTech yes i can return it for a full refund. good to know usb drop is not normal
no mic jack smh
No, but I just used a Logitech usb to mic and audio jack, works perfectly in my set up
@@MashITTech the funny part is I actually bought and returned this device anyway. It didn't work well for me :(
Most complicated, non concise , ambiguous instructions I ever experienced in my 20 years as a Database Administrator! I spent 400+ on a TESmart POS KVM. Every video showboats it's features, but don't tell you what goes where. DO NOT BUY a TESmart because the instructions came from Walmart! If you love troubleshooting and setting up a device without a PHD in KVMs, this products for you!
Would be nice if it fucking worked
Total waste of time and money. Bought directly from the manufacturer. Very slow in changing from PC1 to PC2, sometimes not even identifying monitors, a restart is required, slows down both connected PCs, etc... it has been overadvertised, but not really worth it
Wow, are you sure yours wasn’t faulty? Mine was quick to change sources! And what do you mean slows down both pc? How is that possible the pc just sees it as a monitor?
@@MashITTech "slow down" here refers to keyboard and mouse response through Bluetooth dongle, changed couple pairs, with different USB versions, still the same
oh how annoying! I do not get any with my 2.4ghz dongle. I don't have a bluetooth dongle to test. Have you reached out to their support? Maybe there is a firmware upgrade or the unit is faulty :(
@@MashITTech good question, in case you figure out how to do that except talking to some dull chat bot please share the info with me :)
I have a contact, let me fire him a message 👍
